The day was gradually raising and this weird urge of rushing back to the palace was growing stronger and stronger in me and I knew something wasn't going right. Perhaps Eve was in trouble, or something else but whatever the case, I had to rush home.

I was far from the palace, it took me a long time to find my way. However, somehow I still manage to find my way and now I'm standing in front of the gate, eagerly waiting for the door to be open. It takes longer than before for the gate to be open since no guard is. standing by the gate.

I realise this when I push the gate and it opens and I see no one standing by either inside or outside. Strange! , I murmur to myself. I'm about to yell but I notice a huge crowd gathered, keenly watching something that intrigued me. So I rush into the crowd and in my presence, they paved a path in-between as they all shift to the side as I move further. I can feel their weird stare at me and it's saying something tragic.

"Cut!... Coward!" dad screams as soon as he sees me moving in the path leading to him. His insult goes straight into my heart and I feel scattered yet I act bold and strong.

"You ain't fit to be called my son. You are stupid and weak. You're a coward, you ran at the first and last obstacle. Oh, I don't blame you but I blame myself for that... Yes, I'm the cause of your indolence because contrary to Andrew, I always served you every on a silver tray, while your brother has to toil, had to get only half of what you do!" he yells without carrying about the crowd and that is very disrespectful to me, the king of this kingdom

Anyway, I'm not surprised, I expected that from him. "Where is Eve?" I ask.

"Are you crazy? You think you can leave and come back when you want and the first thing you ask is Eve?. Damn it! If only you stay here yesterday night we would have done the p ritual to solve this fucken crisis... But no, as foolish as you are you had to leave and now you are here asking about her?" he chides and I'm sick.

I strode closer to face him straight into the eyes "I don't give a fuck about what you think of me, so far as I'm concerned I'm still the King of this palace and you owe me respect whether you like it or not" I warn him he grins.

But I don't care and I add "I want you out of this palace first thing tomorrow morning. My wife and I need space, - space!" I glare at him. "You can go to hell, Adam. You are not more the king of this kingdom. I send for your brother Andrew and when he will arrive you will give him the throne in front of this same crowd!" he says

"You will do no such thing. And What the hell are all these people doing here?!" I yell while turning around to send them back to their duty post.

As soon as I turn all I see are dead bodies hanging with blood and I see her, - Maryline, "What the hell did you do?" I clutch his dress pressing his neck then I nudged "That is Maryline for crying out loud. So you have no respect for anyone?" I hit him on the chest as I free him and I run to Maryline to help what is left of her.

"She deserves what is happening to her," the King says ruthlessly "Guards arrest him!" dad screams. "Adams run!" Maryline barely whispers. She was suffering. "Eve is out there with no one to help her. Find her and take care of her" she whispers to me as I move closer. The rope on her neck was already mortal and she was the only person left on the line.

A few guards approach to hold me. Haha, one even dares come closer and hold my hand and place it behind my back. Before he can even realise it, I had seized the sword hung by his waist belt.

Without wasting any second, I pierce him in the stomach. Blood oozes out of his stomach as he falls to the ground like a piece of trash. "No one should dare come closer to!" I threaten with the sword pointing in all directions.

"Cut!" the King screams again and his guard reacts immediately by cutting the rope linked to Maryline. Her extinct is so brutal that a few maids close their eyes so as not to Maryline's agony.

"Are you crazy?" I scream. "Run! Adams run!" Maryline whispers, from the ground on which she's laying. Luckily for her, I was smart enough to the rope on time before the guard. I stoop to the ground "Hey, let's go!" I jerk her with one hand while the other hand is pointing the sword in every direction.

"She's a traitor! If you don't hand me over that traitor, I will disown you as my hire and son. For your good and the good of this palace, you better use your sense for once in your entire life and hand me over that snitch!" the King scolds.

"Never! I rather die!" I exclaim.

"What are you waiting for? Arrest him!" the King others. While I pave the way in the crowds and I run out of the palace with Maryline in my arms. "You didn't have to... Now I will slow you down!" she says, - coughs follow.

"Don't be silly, woman, I do what I want!" I exclaim. "You will never change, eh?" she grins then point out "That way, I always hide a horse there," she says. Immediately we hurry in that direction.

"At least, with this, we will be faster. For now, I don't have the strength to shift!" she said as I help her mouth the horse.

"Where is Eve!" I ask. "I'm not sure of where she is. But as I helped her to escape I sent her to my bungalow not far from here. I told her to wait for me until the sun raises but I told her to leave as soon as she doesn't see me!" she says. "Okay, show me the way there. I think I will be able to trace her scent!" I say.

"You can't, I gave her a scarf that hides her scent so that no one will find her," she says. "Damn!. Anyway, that was a good idea. Let's go to the place perhaps we might be lucky enough to find her there" I ride the horse with Maryline seated in front of me.

She was exhausted! Her voice was fluttering and I was pained to see her in such a weak state despite all our differences. Anyway, she did what I expected of her by saving learn.

We were both silent as I was speeding the riding... "Why did Eve have to escape?" I asked. "Your father wanted to kill her during a pass-over ritual!" she said with her weary voice.

Damn! I knew I was stupid to leave her alone. How could I minimize my father's ambition?. That was stupid!. I blamed myself deep down.

Oh, my dear Eve! To think I thought things were getting better between us and we could take this time to know ourselves more. Then Boom! This Alpha nonsense thing had to stand between us and all this is my fault.

"I pray you are saving and that nothing has happened to you, my love!" my heart was pounding in fear and for centuries now, I have had no such feeling of fear simmering in me and this rendered me unpleasantly frantic.

"My king we lost them!" the guards came back to the King with sad faces. "Are you all crazy? Who the hell asked you to give up?" he chided with veins carved on his neck and forehead.

"but my king... we..."

"Shut the hell up and find them. Search for them until you find them. No single house should be left unexamined. I want the both of them alive before the next day" the king clutches his fist tightly as he yelled.

"Get out!" he hit the table.

Thank you all for reading my books and following me on this journey. I know this book-1 is ending with lots of suspensions but I have to end it here due to a very busy school and life schedule. I will reorganize myself and come up with a book-2 and it will still be between 100,000 words to 150k words like this first one.

I must admit I was first sceptical to write this book not confident enough to pass across the right story content which I wanted to pass but with little boosting, I posted this story and please all constructive criticism is welcome. I'm out to improve.
