Chapter 15: Chapter 15
• • • • Eve Elite's POV • • • •
"Which trust? What are you guys talking about?" I stare at them in shock, they never tell me anything.
"The truth is that you are not ready for this absurd marriage," Maryline says with her dismal glance.
Taking a deep breath as if she has accomplished a task. Despite all that I think or say, Maryline always fights for me and I puff out my breath "It's fine, Maryline, I will marry Adams." I gaily say.
Shocked, she runs to me "Are you sure of what you are about to do? Remember it's not a game." she insists. My shoulders slump "Yes!" I pick an apple from the table then I leave. I move to my room and lock myself in my room.
"Her sense of duty is way greater than yours! I told you
She is ready but you keep worrying for nothing." he slowly walks to Maryline then he tried to clench her hand but she instantly flinches
"If anything, I mean anything happens to her you will pay with your life." She warns and all he does is grin maliciously.
"Believe me or not but sometimes I doubt where your loyalty lays! I just hope that you will always stay loyal to Eve, her father did so much for you, if only you still remember. So don't let his daughter down. That's all I have to say." With that said she leaves immediately.
"Maryline you bother a lot." He sarcastically retorts as he walked out of the kitchen behind her.
In some ways, she was blaming herself, she felt like she might have pushed me to take the wrong decision. With all that she told me earlier in the day. was it true?
"Eve I hope you know what you are doing. Please, Moon goddess guide my little girl. She's still young and naive but I know with your guidance she will have all that it takes to overcome her troubles." Maryline prays.
While I was busily eating the apple in my room thinking about what to do with my freedom. I mean temporal freedom.

I run to check down the compound, "Come, come!" she whispers as soon as she sees my peeping eyes. As I look down, I see a moving figure and I see her hiding I quietly move out of my room, because any unnecessary noise might attract the guards and it wouldn't be good for her.
"How did you find me?" as I hide behind the tree to avoid outside attention.
"After the magisterial introduction at the mating festival, I had no other choice than to keep your name in my mind. You are a princess and soon-to-be Queen and you did bother to tell us. You are a crazy girl." she gets excited.
"Matilda..." I pull her name with a grin on my face.
"There is bad news though?" her smile fades away and this gets me seriously worried "What's that?" my smile vanished along with hers.
"David, the young guy I was with at the festival, his corpse was found this morning and it's sure that someone killed him, but why will someone want to kill such an inoffensive guy." her shoulders slump " l came because I think you have to know," she adds.
"Thank you for coming. I'm so sorry for him." Guilt burns me yet I manage to pretend.
"The truth is I have no one to talk with," she reveals her feelings. "Ohh, I'm here if you need a friend or someone to talk to. I'm like you, I have no one to talk to."
"Thank you! He was my only friend though he was living far away in the other kingdom." she cries. "I can imagine how you feel right now." I hold her in my arms.
"I wish I could go there and see his family but it's still prohibited. It's only after your marriage that all access will be open," she says.
"What if we go there?" I try to help. "You are a princess and soon to be the queen of two big clans, I don't think it's a good idea," she says.
"Why do you think so?" I ask. "From the look of things, you are barely permitted to go out of the palace and worst of all, to another clan. No one will permit you!"
"Who told you I was going to ask for permission? Don't be silly." I chuckle. "Oh, this is more dangerous." she widens her glance then her mouth in surprise.
"Is Matilda the most beautiful damsel, a coward?" I tease her "Are you in or not?" I insist. Perhaps taking her to her only friend's burial will alleviate my guilt.
"Of course, I'm in, I'm always ready for any adventure and this time around it's not with any regular youngster but the princess of our clan." She gets excited back and this makes me happy for her. "I'm highly honoured my Queen." she bows in reverence for me, she's teasing me.
"You are crazy." I laugh, I like her energy.
"Now how do we reach there, the Caelum clan?" she asks as reality hits her. "Don't bother, just follow me. Don't make noise." we slowly move by the walls, so that no one can see us through the window of their rooms.
The two-horse I and Maryline use this early morning is still tied at the entrance, so we steal them.
~ ~ Jogging in the wilderness.~ ~ Screaming ~ ~
I scream as the horse was riding super fast and the wind was blowing so fast.
At some point, we had to slow down to avoid hunters catching us in the forest. The such forest was highly hunted as it was thickly populated with dangerous animals/creatures. So keeping calm will be the best option for them. As we continue riding as subtly as the gentle wind, the serenity of the territory was interrupted as Matilda said, "I can overcome any attack in this place, nothing can even scare us, listen to how calm the atmosphere is. Aaaaaaaaaarrh, Matilda suddenly shouted as she points to the gigantic tree beside them, that's a snake, Omg as she clinches to my clothes, It was amusing, as I started laughing, calm down, that's just a tree trunk that has been formed like that. But you said you can handle any attack? Of course, I can, I'm not scared, I was just showing you, I never finished talking. Then why are you still clinching so tight to my clothes, Matilda releases the cloth and clears her throat, I was just ....., look a caterpillar on your shoulder, stay still. Please move it, as tilts her shoulder to the left with watery eyes. Hahahaha, I'm just kidding, you were just what.
"We are a few meters away from the kingdom." Matilda notifies. "Wow!" I'm just screaming the hell out of me. The joy I feel now is unexplainable. I could never imagine that I could travel this far in my life.
After a few jogs...
"We're at the Caelum kingdom. I can't believe this.
It's my first time coming here alone." Matilda exclaims. "I can't believe this." I step down from my horse as soon as we entered the market place and I begin to dance. "Maryline will surely kill me but it's worth it."
"Sure. I'm sure by now the whole palace is searching for you, haha." She exclaims and she moves closer to me "Princess Stop dancing they will notice us and you can imagine the rest." she whispers
"Okay, fine." I stop as soon I turn, facing each other "What next? So you know where he stays?" I whisper I guessed we had to speak in a low tone so I did.
"Hey you ladies!" some two guards yell from a distance. We run as soon as they called but as soon as we turn we fall on two other guards who seize our hands to check and they see the "S" mark on Matilda and nothing on mine.
This was their first time seeing nothing on someone's hands, every kingdom mark their members at birth. This drew all their attention to me. "What are you?" he brutally releases my hand. "She's surely a vagabond." the other replied.
"Take them to the cell, they will spend the night and we will see what to do about them tomorrow," he ordered and the two other men took us away. We shake our hands to escape the chains, but their grip is so tight and all this goes in vain.
He throws us in like pieces of wood and we hit the ground slightly hurting ourselves. "Be gentle," we screamed as we get off the ground.
The cell is nasty with rats running all over, as I try to keep the rats away I'm so tight only to turn and see Matilda wrapped around my gown like chicks under their mother.
Marylin calls, "Eve, where are you, I have been calling for minutes, opening Eve's door, behold the room is empty. ...
