Chapter 27: Chapter 27

At night, my wolf jumps out of Jasmine's house much to my dismay even though I told her not to.

She wonders around the city, skillfully bypassing people without them knowing but before I figure out what's happening, she is infront of Nathan's doorstep. Surprisingly, Nathan is standing there too.

His eyes bores into my wolf's own, seeming like he is looking straight at me, maybe he is.

"I knew something was up with you." He says.

I try to scream out his name but I'm not in control of this body and it's not like my wolf can speak words. She can only growl, grunt and howl along with other sounds. The conversation that involves words goes on in our minds, mentally.

"Aren't you going to come in?"

This guy.

What is he doing.

Nathan steps away from the door, motioning for us to go in.

I'm not really sure of my wolf's intentions towards Nathan but I think that they aren't evil since she walks into the house without any show of a bad omen.

I hear the door closing behind us. Well, Heather hears that too.

"Do you want some tea.. Um, nevermind. Wolves don't drink tea." Nathan laughs as he kneels before us. "I forgot about that but that's not the problem right now, you need to give Isabella back control, we have an important part to attend in a few days."

Nathan watches on, waiting and my wolf turns away from him and walks to the door, wagging her tail in his face.

Can she be any more annoying!

As she reaches the door, she scratches on it and whines loudly.

"You want me to open it?" Nathan's heavy footsteps comes closer to us. "If I do that, you have to promise me that you'll give Isabella back control before the party."

I think that he also forgot that my wolf is a WOLF! She can't talk, dammit!

Nevertheless, he opens the door and Heather rushes out like the wind. I wish I can glare at that nitwit for letting her go.

'You're just jealous that he likes me more than you.' My anger rises when she tells me this.

Liar!!

Throughout the whole day, she hops around, giving chase to any animal she sees but when the moon is in the sky, she wonders back to Nathan's home and he is waiting at the same spot as before, ready to feed her with steak.

As my wolf snacks on it, Nathan walks back inside and she taunts me.

'I told ya! He likes me better than you!!'

This routine continues for a few more days, although I don't know how many exactly but I get used to being in this predicament as the time goes by.

The feeling of loneliness continues to crept in, when it gets heavier Heather is always there to leave a remark. It's almost like she feels it too but that's just an assumption of mine, nothing else.

Today is no different from other days. As usual, she pounces everywhere in the town but stays hidden from the humans.

She walks back to Nathan's home as usual but the unusual thing is that Nathan hasn't prepared any steak.

I focus my attention on searching for any form of food around him but I see nothing.

Is this a plan of his or is he trying to tell Heather that he is her food. Wait, will Heather really eat him.

I think staying in wolf form for this long is making me delusional. This isn't good at all.

"Are you ready?" He asks.

Ready to eat you?

I'm not but I think my wolf is.

Heather steps forward and my emotions rises up.

Nathan step out of the way!! Run away, she is going to eat you up!

Immediately, she soars into the sky and lands on Nathan. I close my eyes tightly.

I can't see this. I don't want to see this. In a few seconds Nathan is going to die and I am going to be stuck in wolf form forever.

"Hey, you can open your eyes now."

I shake my head and hold on to the person infront of m... Wait, what?

When I open my eyes, Nathan is staring right at me with a small smile and my eyes widen.

"Do you want a blanket, it's really cold out here."

I look down at my body. I'm back in my human form?

"But how?" I don't understand.

"You should ask your wolf. She can explain that better for you. Apparently, she is okay with her run."

"But she said..." I pause. "She said that she wouldn't let me turn back until we are about to die."

Nathan laughs. "She is really funny and you'll have to speak to her, she will tell you everything."

Huh? Why do I feel like there's something more to this that meets the eye.

He moves into the house with me and when I realize our position, my cheeks turns scarlet.

"Why am I naked?"

He looks up and me. "You don't need me to explain that to you, do you?"

I look away immediately. "Sorry, that was an stupid question."

It's obvious that when I turn into my wolf form my clothes tear off but the fact that my bare body is pressed on his own body is a bit embarrassing.

I have been unconsciously holding on to his neck for a little while now and now, it's weird.

I try to pull away from him but he doesn't let me.

"It will take a while for you to be steady on your feet, so let me take you to your room."

So that's where he is taking me. I guess forgotten the path to my room here, I have a lot of rooms in different places now.

"How long has it been since I have been stuck in wolf form."

He opens a door and walks in. "A week. Tomorrow is the date of the party and don't worry, I informed Jasmine that you were here when I saw you the first time."

I look down at my fingers as he drops me down on the bed.

I didn't even think about her. I'm being really forgetful now.

My mind gets cornered by my thoughts that I forget that I'm not putting on any clothes until Nathan hands me a blanket.

I take it with deep embarrassment. The only thing I can be thankful about is that he didn't look. Even though, I have the urge to ask him if he had a little peep, I keep quiet. If I do ask him that then I'll die of shame.

"I'll draw a bath for you."

I guess it's his turn to take care of me.

He walks into the bathroom, leaving me to my thoughts and I use this time to connect to my wolf.

'Puny human, are you happy now.'

My eyes narrows. "Typical for you to throw the first insult, puny wolf."

'What do you want, human. Aren't you happy now? Why can't I get a break from you.'

"Why did you give me back control and put me in a delicate situation." I glare at the wall.

'Oh, so you are mad that I threw you at our mate.' I can almost hear the smirk in her voice.

"That was uncalled for." I seethe.

'You need to make the first move, it's about time that you both get more intimate, right? So, I'm helping but it looks like he is playing hard to get, I'll have to push more harder.'

My nails turns into claws and digs into my skin, threatening to draw blood. "I'm gonna ask again, why did you give me back control."

'Oh, that. I made a promise to Nathan to give you back control for him to let me go and I was getting bored, I want something exciting and I feel that lurking around the corner. You better not ruin it!'

Something exciting lurking around the corner?

I narrow my eyes as I hear her giggles. "Where did you get that line?"

"Are you okay on your feet now or do you want me to carry you again?"

I look up to see Nathan by the bathroom door and I stand up quickly.

"I'm fi-"

Before I can finish talking, I begin to fall and in a second, he is standing by my side, holding me in place.

"Hey, you should be careful."

'Tune him out and mate with him right now. You shouldn't be anything close to careful, be rough.' My wolf adds in and my face reddens immediately.

I can't talk aloud since Nathan is standing here so I reprimand her mentally. 'Shut up! Don't you realize that he can hear you. Have you forgotten who he is!!'

'Hmm. Have you forgotten who he is? You do know that he can hear you too.'

My throat cloaks up. She has a point there. He told me before that he could hear my wolf and her stupid rambles.

'No, he never said it that way. He would never call my rambles stupid and it's not like I ramble.'

I look up at the person in question. "Hey, can you hear what my wolf is saying right now?"

In return, he shakes his head. "I blocked that ability out, I don't want you to get uncomfortable when you are speaking to her with me around. I know that most of the time she has a lot of 'interesting' things to say."

'Did you hear that, he thinks that I am interesting.' I can feel my wolf bouncing around in my head and  I deadpan.

That's not what he said.

I get back into reality when he carries me into the bathroom and steadies me on my feet.

"You should hop in or your bath will get cold."

"Er... Sure." I laugh out nervously.

He turns away and holds the door knob. "I'll leave you to it."

Immediately, a surge comes over me and it stuns me for a few seconds before my mouth starts pouring out words.

"My bath would be more pleasant if you join me. There is enough room for one."

My body also moves on its own accord and I grab him, letting go of the blanket covering me. I can only shout inwardly while watching what's happening.

I don't think Nathan realizes what's going on with me, though, it takes a while for him to agree to join me and it is only then that I get back to myself.

I glare at the water, trying my best not to stare at his bare chest.

I connect to my wolf in the next second.

'What did you do!'

'You're welcome. Isn't that what you're supposed to tell me first.' I can hear the smirk in her voice. 'I never imagined that he would actually agree to it.'

'That was a reckless move, Heather.'

'Cool your paws. I'm just getting started.'

Hearing Nathan's voices makes me look up. "If you feel better embarrassed, I can always leave."

He tries to stand up and my eyes widen. Before the water can fully reveal past his stomach, I grab his hand and drag his down.

"Oh no. I feel great, awesome. I'm awesome." I laugh even as it sounds strange in my ears.

I'm dead.

'Isabella, as your wolf, I'm gonna call this your birthday gift even though it's not your birthday. You dig!'
