Chapter 25: Chapter 25
Jasmine wasn't kidding when she told me that she wouldn't take me to the café again. The next day, we head to another shop instead, an icecream shop to be precise.
All the while, everywhere I turn I see little kids smiling and jumping with glee when they lay their eyes on the icecream of their choice.
My eyes are immediately attracted to the little girl who asked for a chocolate flavoured icecream a few minutes back. In a way, she reminds me of Shelia.
Speaking about that, I haven't had the chance to visit again. Even though it's been a few days, I wonder how they are doing.
"Hey mama, do you want some of my icecream. It's really good."
Beside the little girl is a young woman, apparently her mother.
"You know that I don't like sweets. Why don't we buy one for daddy too."
"Yea!"
The young mother ruffles her daughter's hair in response.
"You're looking a bit in the moment." Jasmine's voice comes from behind, startling me. "Are you thinking about Sir Nathan?"
She wiggles her eyebrows in my direction making me turn bright red.
"I don't know w-what you're talking about." I take a few steps away from her and the weird look on her face.
"Oh, so you're dreaming of doing more than kissing with him then."
My voice gets stuck in my throat. "Would you stop being so creepy."
"Come on, don't be shy."
I shrug her hand off when she tries to reach out to me. "Stop being creepy. We're working and at the end of the day, I want to get paid."
"You're acting like I'm not the one paying you."
I roll my eyes. "Then act like you're the boss."
When it's almost noon and we are done with everything, Jasmine decides that it's time for us to close up but instead of taking me back to her house, she takes me elsewhere.
I state at the building in front of me with confusion. "Why are we going to a boutique?"
Jasmine giggles beside me and raises her hands up in the air like a little kid. "We're hunting for a dress!"
Hunting?
That sounds out of the blue.
I wave my hands vigorously in the air. "I can assure you. I don't want anymore clothes."
"It's not just any kind of dress, silly." She giggles again. "Didn't Sir Nathan tell you about the party taking place in a few days."
"I guess he did but that has nothing to do with dresses."
"You're wrong. It has everything to do with that." She jumps. "Since you're a lady of royalty, you should be glimmering, which adds to the fact that you're Sir Nathan's mate, you're not allowed to look like garbage."
"Huh? I look like garbage?" I frown.
"That's not... what I- you know what, just go in there and choose a dress of your choice. Sir Nathan will cover all the expenses."
She pushes me into the boutique, at least she tries to. Before she can succeed, I hold the sides of the door frame with my fingers, pushing myself in the opposite direction she is propelling me to while I look around.
"Is Nathan here? I don't see him anywhere."
"Would you just go in already! He is not here okay, but he gave me some money for your use earlier. Now get in!"
With one last push from her, I stumble into the boutique. It takes a few seconds for me to stand properly.
Earlier?
So that's means he has contacted her in some way, irrespective of the fact that I am with his phone.
Jasmine taps my shoulder impatiently. "Hey, hey. Look alive. We have a lot of things to do so you can't just stand there lost in your own thoughts. Go on, make your pick."
I send a sheepishly smile her way. "Sorry about that. I was just thinking about how I need gadgets too."
She blinks at me. "Huh?"
"A phone. I need a phone."
"Oh, that can be arranged. I have tons of those at home."
Good. With that I can transfer every single detail from Nathan's phone to it.
As I stand there, wondering how I will go about seeing Nathan again. How I will react and what I will say.
I know for sure that half of my mind has come up with the decision to punch him when I do see him again, mostly because he hasn't come to look for me up till now, but there's no doubt that he knows where I am.
While the other half comes up with the solution of ignoring him completely. I think that will hit a nerve in him.
The only problem is, I don't know why I am so mad at him.
Jasmine is a bit far from me no. It looks as though she knows someone here, seeing as she talks to one of the employees casually. The manager tag on the female employee's shirt leads me to believe that the woman Jasmine is taking to, is the manager of this place.
To be frank, I won't be surprised if Jasmine owns this place too. It wouldn't be a shock to me that much.
"Hey, have you picked anything yet?" Jasmine calls from behind me and I sigh.
"No, not yet."
My eyes graze through the various dresses in a hurry. I am sure that either way I'll have to choose something. I just need to make it quick.
Soon, the torture is over and we head to Jasmine's home with more than two bags in each of our hands. At the end of it all, Jasmine was the one who chose for me.
"I need a warm bath." She groans from behind me when we step into her home. "Don't you want a bath too, Isabella? I could call Sir Nathan to join you."
Her eyes twinkles with mischief. I can see it clearly from where I stand.
"Would you cut it out." I grit my teeth for a few seconds. "Speaking of phones..."
Her face lightens up.
"Oh yeah, you're still with Sir Nathan's phone and you apparently need one. Right right." She nods. "If I want to call Sir Nathan to take a bath with you, I will need to run over to him house and that will be a waste of time. I'm sure you'll be already done by then but maybe he'll get to see you in just a towel."
I glare at her as she rambles in front of me.
It looks like she is talking to herself but did she really have to say those things?
"Do you have a spare phone or not?"
"Of course, I do." She waves me off with a forced smile.
I can feel her cheerfulness falling drastically. This always happens when we are back in her home. I guess that she is still trying to adjust with me staying here.
"It's in the kitchen cabinet, the last one." She points out and I immediately follow her directions.
I've taking into notice that her cheerfulness increases when we are outside, surrounded by people. I feel bad for making her put up with me but when I save enough money, I can get my own place, that is if Nathan doesn't interfere.
"Do you know that I'm supposed to be your bodyguard in the party?" She speaks from behind me when I drop the bags on the ground, beside me and I open the cabinet's drawer.
To keep the mood going, I answer her. "Will you get a uniform and everything else?"
"That would be cool but I'm not sure that I will look great in that. What colour should it be anyway?"
This time I don't respond. My voice gets stuck in my throat once I see what's in the drawer. Yes, a few gadgets are in here but beside them is a blood bag?
It's a blur but I catch a glimpse of Jasmine as she rushes past me, snatching it from my hand in the process.
A look of panic appears on her face as she stares at me, holding it to her chest.
"It's not what you think."
This may be an assumption but some things are adding up in my head. The blood bag, her speed and perhaps her strong relationship with Nathan.
The corner of my eyes tighten once I realize this.
"Are you- are you a vampire?"
