Chapter 66: Chapter 66

Constance's point of view:

I shakily turn to face the angry Darren. He's laughing but no one needs to tell me that it's a dangerous laugh. I thought I hit him hard, he should have fainted or died. I didn't know that he would rise on his feet so quickly, though blood is still oozing out from his forehead.

“I told you that you can't escape from me. You are mine and only mine!"

“I will never be yours Darren, never!" screamed and ran away in another direction. Maybe I will find another exist. I haven't run far before Darren caught up on me.

He held my arm tightly and pushed me to himself. I tried to free myself from his grip but he wouldn't let me. The next thing I felt was a sharp pain on my cheeks. He slapped me. This time, I felt my lips were broken.

“I told you that I will be good to you if you do not make me angry but you didn't listen to me. Now, I will teach you a lesson. I don't want to hurt you but you have pushed me too far."

I gulped down in fear. What is he trying to do to me? He tightened his grip on my arm and his finger cut through my flesh. I winced in pain but he didn't mind at all.

“I want us to do this the easy way but you want it the hard way."

“Let go of me Darren. You are hurting me!"

“Shut up!" He gravel and hit my face once again, making another cut through my cheek.

“Now give me your hand. I'm going to remove that ring on your finger because it doesn't belong there. You will only wear a ring from me because I'm your husband. I'm the one that loves you and you belong to me."

“You are a monster Darren. You claim to love me but you are hitting me. Jace never hit me. Jace is my husband and I love only him. I will never ever love you!" I shriek. And then, I regretted my words immediately. What is wrong with me? Why can't I hold my tongue?

Darren's face had darkened and his eyes flashing red. His grip on my arm tightened the more. He held me so tight that I yelped in pain. I'm sure that his fingers must have dug a big hole in my arm due to the amount of blood that is flowing out and the pain that I felt.

“You are testing my patience Constance. I told you that you belong to me, you should love me and no one else!" He hollered and hit my face. The force he used this time is greater than before. He pushed me hard and I fell on the floor as my head met the floor with great force. I felt a pang of pain on my head, the pain is so excruciating and I understand why. The force I used on hitting my head on the floor is enough to incur such pain.

I was still trying to get over the pain on my head as I felt something hit my body. I look up to see that Darren is hitting me with his belt. I yelped in pain and tried to cower away although I'm already feeling dizzy and the pain in my head is too much compared to the pain Darren is inflicting on my body.

I tried to crawl away but I couldn't. I felt numb and Darren wouldn't stop hitting me. I felt darkness slowly crowding me. Darren finally stopped hitting me as he crouched before me. He raised my head up, tapping my cheeks. I only saw that through a blurry view.

“Constance, Constance… What is happening to you? I'm sorry sweetheart. I'm sorry for hitting you." That was the last thing I held before I fell into darkness. I don't even know if I will ever come out from this darkness, my body is too weak and I need rest.

Author's point of view:

It's already been two days since Constance passed out. Darren had been worried to dead. He doesn't know what to do. She's still breathing but she hasn't opened her eyes. Darren fears that if medical attention is not given to her, she will die.

He's so confused and doesn't know what step to take. He can't take her to the hospital. He's a fugitive and if he goes to the hospital he will be caught. Also, Constance will definitely be recognized by one of, if not all the doctors and nurses in the hospital since she's now popular.

The best thing to do now is to cover himself up and go buy some medicines. He needs to treat her wound so that she won't contract infection. He's secretly planning on leaving the country. He knows that it will be hard but he will try his best. The police must have found out that he escaped with Kevin and some other prisoners so they must be looking for him and others, that's why he must do everything possible to leave the country before it will be hard to do so.

Constance is the one making things difficult. Why can't she love him and marry him so that they will leave the country together. It hurts him so much that Constance couldn't love him. It makes him angry that he loves Jace and not him.

He doesn't want to hurt her, he doesn't want to lay his hands on her but she pushed him to the wall. He couldn't control his anger when she kept on saying that she would never love him, that she only loves Jace.

Darren can't help but blame himself for the condition Constance is in. If he hadn't lost his temper, all these wouldn't have happened. He wouldn't have any reason to take her to the hospital and they will be planning on how to leave the country.

He didn't know what came over him and he beat her till she lost consciousness. He knows that she will be angry at him when she wakes up but he will make it up to her. He loves her and she only belongs to him. Even if she's stubborn now, he believes that she will come to her senses at the right time. He escaped from the prison to be with her and he will definitely be with her forever. He disguised himself and that was how he was able to enter her birthday party. Once she wakes up, they will leave the country.

He's still confused at what decision to make. Constance needs medical attention. He can't bear to lose her, he must do everything in his power to save her. If only he knew where Kevin is, he would ask for help from him. He and Kevin separated when they escaped from the prison. He doesn't know which path he took or where he could be right now.

He stared at Constance, her breathing had become shallow as if she would stop breathing in the next second. Fear clouded him.

He has a number of his friend who's a doctor. His friend helped him do dirty work in the past. He will call him to come treat Constance. He knew the doctor wouldn't expose him because they are both good friends .

He later called the doctor and he came over. After checking Constance, the doctor found out that her condition is critical. She needs to be moved to the hospital for proper treatment but Darren refuses.

The doctor came the second day and Constance's condition was getting worse.

“Darren, we need to take her to the hospital. If we don't do it, she will die. She needs to undergo surgery in her head." The doctor tried convincing Darren.

“I told you that I will not let her go to the hospital. The police are looking for me and if you take her to the hospital, when she wakes up, she will expose us. You can do the surgery here, she is not going to the hospital and that's final."

The doctor shook his head, Darren is a very stubborn man. If this girl is not treated properly, she will definitely die. “Darren, the operation can't be done anywhere to avoid infection. If you really want this girl to live, let's move her to the hospital."

Darren thought for a while. He doesn't want to lose Constance. He won't be able to live without her and he also knows that if he takes her to the hospital, he will still lose her even if she recovers. He's in a dilemma.

“I will think about it, Jorge. Maybe if you come tomorrow, I will make up my mind," he said.

“You need to be fast with your decision," Jorge said before leaving. He doesn't feel good meeting a fugitive but he knows that Darren had done a lot for him in the past. He doesn't want to be caught up with Darren's crime this time. His crime is huge, the whole country knows of his escape from the prison and the police are doing all they can to find him.

He knows that if Darren is caught, he will be implicated. He still can't give Darren's location to the police. Darren is his good friend and he can't betray him. He also knows that if this girl is taken to the hospital, he and Darren will be caught but he will be careful. This girl will die if they don't take her to the hospital.

He knew of all Darren's crimes. He knew he was the one that nearly killed Jace. He was one of the doctor's that was taking care of Jace's grandfather when Darren kidnapped the old man. He escaped when the police came for them. He doesn't want to help Darren this time and get involved in his crime but Darren is his good friend who had helped him in the past and he can't deny him his help.
