Chapter 63: Chapter 63
Author's point of view:
Jace clenched his fist when Jocelyn told him everything that had been going on in Constance's life but the only thing that made Jace smile was when Jocelyn said that Constance is pregnant.
“Constance is pregnant?" His voice was full of excitement, though some anger was still lurking there.
“Yes," Jocelyn replied with a teary smile. She was happy that Jace was alive. Constance was the only one that did not believe that Jace was dead and she was waiting for him to return back to her and her wish had been fulfilled. Jace was actually alive and her wish had been fulfilled.
It was three days ago that Jace came to Jocelyn's house. It was a cold night. The knock came on the door and Jocelyn was the one to get the door. At first, she couldn't recognize that it was Jace that was standing on the doorway because he was covered in a black hoodie. She screamed in fear when Jace removed his hoodie cap to reveal his handsome face. Jace was fast enough to cover her mouth with his hand.
After making sure that Jocelyn and her family who also rushed to the scene were calmed. Jace was ushered in and that was when he told his story. He had once come to Jocelyn's house to pick Constance after she spent some time in Jocelyn's house so he knew the route to her house.
When he escaped death and returned to the city, the first person he wanted to see was his wife. He knew very well that his brothers will definitely not make life easy for his wife especially when their grandfather is in coma. He believes that the only place his wife will find solace is staying with her friend Jocelyn, that was why he came to Jocelyn's house at first.
Before he told Jocelyn and her family how he escaped death; Jocelyn told him how his wife had suffered since the news of his death. The more Jocelyn speaks, the more the anger and rage spikes in Jace. His face reddened in rage, his knuckles turned white. Even Jocelyn could feel the aura of his anger, every man in his shoes has the right to feel angry if not enraged after hearing how his wife suffered and his sick grandfather was kidnapped. Also, another man forced his wife to marry him. They took away all his properties and left his wife with nothing.
“I will tear them all apart! All of them!" Jace growled in rage. Kevin and Darren will pay with their lives.
After he had calmed down a little, he told Jocelyn and her family how he escaped death. When they found out that a bomb was installed in the jet, it was already too late. There was only one parachute in the jet and that was a mistake. A jet was supposed to have more than one parachute. It wasn't easy for Jace to leave Victor behind. Victor is not just his personal assistant but his best friend. Victor had told him to go without him. He believes that Jace's life is more important than his. Jace wasn't able to stop the tears that slid down his cheeks when he was telling the story of how Victor sacrificed his life for him. He's going to avenge Victor's death.
Jace didn't know what happened when he used the parachute. The only thing he remembers is that he woke up in a small cozy room. The old man told him that he found him in the forest unconscious and he had been sleeping for days. That means he was in a coma. After thanking the man and regaining his strength, he decided to return home.
Jocelyn was glad that Jace was alive. Constance will be very happy but the problem is that she doesn't know where Constance is. She has been calling Constance's phone since yesterday and she wasn't picking her calls. Jocelyn doesn't know where Darren's apartment is and she was scared that something bad must have happened to Constance.
Jocelyn and Jace traced Darren's house. Meanwhile, Jocelyn and Constance's plan worked. One of the plans that Jocelyn and Constance marked out is hiring a private investigator that will trail Kevin and Darren. They believe that by doing so, one day those men will find out where Darren and Kevin are hiding Mr. Williams. One of them will definitely lead those men to the place.
Fortunately, the private investigator found the place. Jace sent the police there while he and Jocelyn went to Darren's house. When they arrived at Darren's house, no one was there. The door is locked but Jace managed to open it with a tricky key. They searched for Constance and found her in one of the rooms, unconscious. She looks weak and pale.
Jace hugged her and cried. He can't imagine how much his poor wife had suffered. They took her to the hospital. She stayed unconscious the whole day. While in the hospital, the police also bring his grandfather to the hospital. The police also gave him good news: his grandfather is awake. They arrested the doctor and nurse which Kevin and Darren hired to take care of Mr. Williams in the house where they kept him.
The police men told Jace that they couldn't find either Kevin or Darren, Jace told them that they shouldn't bother. Jace doesn't plan on letting Kevin and Darren stay in prison. He planned on killing them himself. But when he met his grandfather, he made him change his mind.
Mr. Williams persuaded him to allow the police to do the job. They shouldn't take law into their own hands. Mr. Williams requested to see Constance but Jace told him that she's unconscious. Jace told him everything that Darren and Kevin did to Constance and also how he nearly died from the bomb they attached in his private jet. He also told his grandfather that Kevin was the one that wanted to kill him by cutting the brakes of his car.
Mr. Williams couldn't believe that his grandson turned out to be a monster. He really deserves death as Jace said but the best punishment to give him is to let him suffer in jail. Also, even though he did all these despicable things, he's still his grandson and he won't have the heart to watch him die. He believes that if Kevin receives a good punishment, he will change.
Jocelyn called Jace and told him that Constance is awake. Jace quickly rushed to her ward. Mr. Williams is still weak to move and the doctor said he should not be stressed.
When Jace opened the door to Constance's ward. A tear fell down his cheeks. Jace is not the type of man that cries but in this situation, he can't help it. When he was in the air, the first person that came to his mind was his wife. Is he not going to see her again? He had only begun a beautiful relationship with her, he promised not to leave her and he must fulfill his promise. That was why he fought to survive.
Jocelyn helped Constance to sit up. The moment Constance woke up, Jocelyn was so happy. She excitedly hugged her and then called Jace whom she believed was happy when she delivered the good news.
Constance was still confused, her head was not clear yet. She remembered that she lost her baby, she tried killing Darren but didn't succeed. Darren locked her up in a room. How then did she find herself in the hospital? Didn't Jocelyn find her? Is she finally out of Darren's apartment or is this a dream? She has lots of questions in her head.
“Baby." She heard that familiar voice she had been longing to hear for weeks. She froze. Did she hear right? She slowly turned her head to her right as her eyes fell on the face she was yearning to see. She blinked her eyes and shook her head. She wants to make sure that she's not dreaming.
“Baby, it's me. I'm alive." Tears slowly slide down Constance's cheeks as she stares at her husband. Her heart is beating so fast. She's scared that this might be a dream since she always dreams of him.
“Honey, is that really you?" She asked in tears. Jace nods, also in tears.
Constance is still doubting her view. What if this is a dream? Her husband, whom everyone said is dead, comes back alive and she, who is in Darren's apartment, locked in a room, is now in a hospital. She still finds it hard to believe. She had hoped that her husband was still alive and would come back to her one day but right now she seems confused.
She climbed down the bed, though her body is still weak, she didn't mind it at all. She moves towards Jace who also moves towards her until there's just a very little space separating them. She raised her hand and touched Jace's right cheek. She raised her other hand and touched his left cheek as her eyes stared into his eyes. She wants to be sure this is not a dream because she can't handle it if it's one. She needs her husband, she really needs her husband in her life.
“Baby it's me. I'm alive, I didn't die. I survived." Jace muttered.
“You're alive, you're alive, you're alive." Constance keeps repeating the same words as she hugs her husband so tight, sobbing profusely in his chest. “You are alive, my husband is alive." She keeps on saying.
“Yes, baby and I will never leave you again."
…
After crying and hugging. Constance sat with her husband. She sat on his lap, she didn't want to leave his side; afraid that if she did, she wouldn't see him again.
Jace told her everything that happened. Including how he survived. For once since the news of her husband's death, Constance felt alive. Her husband is alive and her grandfather has woken up.
“Jocelyn told me about your pregnancy," Jace said. Tears started wetting Constance's cheeks. It got Jocelyn and Jace surprised.
“Our child, our baby is dead," Constance whimpers in tears. Jace's heart clenched in pain, Jocelyn not left out. How did that happen? When did she lose the pregnancy? Jocelyn is just confused. Constance's baby was still alive the last time they met, so how did this happen?
Constance told them everything concerning how she lost her pregnancy. Darren wanted to rape her, she tried saving herself but fell down at the process and forcefully hit her stomach on the floor. She was crying bitterly as she told them everything in detail.
Jace's clenched fist was trembling as she told them the painful story.
Darren, Kevin, he's going to kill them both.
