Chapter 40: Chapter 40

Jace returned home late last night. It was past eleven. He met his grandfather and Hannah in the living room, they were both restless. Immediately they saw Jace, they asked him if he had seen Constance but Jace said no.

“Wasn't she back from school?" He asked them.

“She's not back from school, we have been calling her number but she's not picking up. We are becoming more worried."

Jace became worried just like them. He also started calling Constance but she wasn't picking up. Throughout the night, he couldn't sleep. He informed the police and they said that they will carry out the search in the morning.

Jace wasn't okay with what they said. He wants them to start looking for his wife that night but of course, that's not possible. The only thing best to do was calling the school management that night. Their answer was that no student was still in school at that hour, they had to check the whole school and even the CCTVs. Jace knows that no student will be in school till midnight but his worrisome self made him to call the school management, maybe in case his wife is in the school.

In the morning, he called the police again and they started their search immediately. If he has any idea of a place his wife could be, he would do the searching himself. He can't even believe that he's so worried about a girl he shouldn't even care for. He couldn't sleep last night because he was worried about her. Jace just can't understand himself anymore.

Melinda was ranting words that his wife had gone to spend the night with her lover but he didn't pay attention to all her words. Those things she's saying doesn't matter to him. What matters the most is to find his wife. He believes that his little innocent wife doesn't have a lover, he trusts her.

He's only worried that something bad might have happened to her. Jake said that she told him to go home and that she's going out with her friend who will later bring her home. Jace wonders who that friend of hers is. He blamed Jake for listening to her, he should have followed them from a close distance to know where the friend was taking her to. Who knows where that friend took her? What if something bad had happened to her?

He warned Jake that if anything should happen to his wife he will not spare him because all these are his fault. It's his job to protect his wife but he failed.

The police weren't giving Jace any good news, he was running out of patience. He was about to leave the house to go and do the searching himself, he didn't mind driving round the whole city with no destination just to look for his wife but before he could step out of the house, he saw his wife walking inside the house with the support of someone.

He felt like it was a dream. Is that really his wife, he was greatly relieved and his tensed body was able to calm. But then anger and jealousy washed over him when he recognized the guy whom his wife is leaning on for support to walk. That's the same London guy. What was he doing with his wife? Is he the friend she told Jake about? Were they together all night?

Looking at his wife, she looks weak. He wonders what happened.

Hannah was the first to rush to her and help her to sit.

Jace really wanted to go over to his wife but the anger and jealousy he was feeling wouldn't let him. Especially when Darren explained what happened, about how he and Constance went to the amusement park and Constance was nearly kidnapped.

How can Constance go with him to the amusement park and she sleeps in his house? Yes, he knows that she's weak and that was why she slept in Darren's house but if she didn't go to the amusement park with him, all these wouldn't have happened.

He was so worried about her not knowing that she went out with a man. How can she trust Darren to go out with him? They only met in London. Jace believes that she doesn't know much about Darren and yet she's calling him her friend and being so close to him. Jace doesn't like Darren and feels like his words are crap. He left the house in anger.

He believes that nothing happened between his wife and Darren but he's angry that she went out with him.

Right now, he feels that he's not angry at Constance or anyone. He's angry with himself. Why was he so worried about Constance and jealous because she went out with Darren and spent the night in his house. Whether the stupid Darren touched her or not, he shouldn't care but why does it seem that he cares.

When he arrived at his office, he called the police and told them to stop their search because his wife is back. He told them about Constance's kidnap and they should look into it, he wants to know who dared to try to kidnap his wife. The police said his grandfather had already made the report and they have gotten the statement of both Darren and Constance.

At work he just couldn't concentrate, his head is occupied especially with the thought of his wife and he hates it. He tried his best to stop thinking about her but he just couldn't. What the f*ck is that girl doing to him!

And for that Darren, he doesn't trust him at all. Constance might see him as a friend but he believes that Darren doesn't think that way. That guy lives a private life, what if there's more about him. He really needs to find out why that guy came into his wife's life.

Constance point of view:

I was really disappointed when my husband left this morning without a word despite seeing my condition. I felt bad, it looks like he believed what Melinda said.

Even if what Melinda is true, why should he be angry? Is not as if he's faithful in this marriage. During our honeymoon, he had to sleep with another woman.

But I'm not like that, I love him, I will not let any other man touch me. Also, Darren is my friend and nothing more.

Is already sunset and I feel much better now. Hannah didn't go to work, she stayed back at home to take care of me. Grandfather was also there for me, I'm so lucky to have them as my family.

My phone was dead, I charged it and saw the missed call from both Hannah and grandfather. I also saw Jocelyn's missed call, I'm sure she called because she didn't see me in school. Wait…. My husband also called me. Was he worried about me?

I saw more than thirty missed calls from him, he must have been worried about me but if he was worried why did he ignore me this morning when I came home. Or was it as I've thought, he believed what Melinda said. If he was worried about me, he should have at least a little trust in me.

I'm delighted that he was worried about me but the way he acted this morning made me feel sad. I'm sad that he doesn't trust me.

I waited that night but my husband didn't come home. Is he not going to come home? Is he that angry at me?

During noon that same day, the police came to our house to get my statement. I was feeling a little bit better then. I told them all that I could remember. They gave me their words that they will do their best in finding the kidnappers. They said that Darren also gave his own statement.

I later called Jocelyn back. I know she must be worried since I didn't come to school today and I need to assure her that everything is fine. She was relieved when she heard my voice.

“I didn't see you in school and I was so worried, are you okay?" She asked through the phone.

I told her what happened and as expected she freaked out.

“You nearly got kidnapped. Oh! My goodness bestie. I'm glad that you are okay. I wonder who wanted to kidnap you, you are just an innocent girl. You haven't done any bad to anyone."

“I am thinking the same thing, I don't know who wants to kidnap me but don't worry; my family has already told the police and they will look into it. I and Darren gave our statement."

After having a long discussion with her, I ended the call before going to the bathroom to have my bath.

I had to sleep with Hannah since I can't sleep in a room all by myself. The next day, I became stronger than yesterday, I wasn't feeling weak anymore.

“Are you sure you are fit to go to school?" Grandfather asked during breakfast.

“Yes Grandfather, I'm okay now. I missed lectures yesterday, I don't want to miss it today as well," I replied.

“You don't have to worry about your lecture. Your health is more important, if you are not yet fit to go to school. You should rest okay," Hannah said. I'm really happy to have caring people around me.

I assured them that I'm fine. Finally, they were convinced. Jake took me to school as usual. When I entered the class and saw Jocelyn, she quickly hugged me.

“I'm so happy that you are okay." She hugged me tight. I smiled and hugged her back. Having people that cares so much about you, is the best feeling in the world.

The lecture went smooth as usual and during lunch, we sat with Darren. Jocelyn thanked Darren for saving me from the kidnappers.

“Constance is also my friend. I went there with her and it was my responsibility to take care of her," Darren said.

“I hope they will find those stupid kidnappers. How dare they try to kidnap my friend," Jocelyn is so pissed. The way she looks now, she will definitely tear those kidnapers into pieces If she sets her eyes on them.

I'm really scared, I hope those kidnappers will be found.

“The police are on it, they will definitely find them," Darren chipped in.

After lunch, Jocelyn went to the restroom and I was left with Darren. Lots of girls were giving me and Jocelyn hatful looks during lunch. I'm sure it's because we were eating with Darren. Darren is now so popular because of his looks and lots of girls are trying to get his attention.

They shouldn't worry because I won't take Darren away from them, I'm married already. And for Jocelyn, I think she sees Darren just as a friend.

“You didn't tell me that you are married to the popular musician Jace," Darren said when Jocelyn excused herself to the restroom.

Now that Darren has found out. I think there's no reason to hide my marriage.
