Chapter 87: Chapter 87

Married to Mr. Arrogant

Subtitle: Getting to know him

Written by : Marvy Hyacinth

(Justin's POV)

It's in the afternoon and I'm on a drive back to the building where I supposedly 'work'. Zara is in the car with me on my way back just like she was on my way going. Though, we were unable to say anything to each other on the first ride, since we were busy being briefed on the directives and agenda of the meeting we were going to attend in place of my dad, we are finally able to talk this time around, with me on the wheel and Zara on the passenger's seat in front..She begins, as an answer to the question that I had earlier asked her.

"It isn't even really like that anyway, I have told you, there's truly nothing to tell.."

I watch Zara, my secretary, as she intones and I fortunately do not miss that strange half smile on her face, so I know that she's probably trying to make a fool of me, I mean, even if I did figure out a way to make her spill whatever is going on, she's smart enough to know how to wriggle her way out of it. It's evidently one of the many reasons why she's my secretary; For her wit, calmness, evasiveness, and cunning.

"Zara, I know there's something going on, and I've taken the liberty of coming to you to ask, not doubting your loyalty or nothing.." I speak through my teeth cause obviously I doubt her loyalty, I'm currently pretending to believe her, let's see how long she can keep this up.

"You should really come out with the truth. I know there's something though, I don't know what it is.."

"Okay Justin, okay. I believe that you're not doubting my loyalty, I'll try my best to explain what happened last week Thursday."

Finally, some headway, ugh! Let's see what sort of tale she will spin this time..

"After office hours, that Thursday, I was going to.."

..Flashback..

Zara is walking back to her office, after she has escorted Justin out and finally for the day, as his secretary, there are some things expected of her, things like this. She stands in front of the elevator, but when it doesn't open up after about 5 minutes, quite impatient to return to her office, she decides to make a turn and take the long stairs up to the floor where Justin's office is and where she works as his secretary.

Just as she makes the turn to take the stairs, she hears the ping of the elevator..

TIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGGG!

As it opens up.

Zara shakes her head and rolls her eyes, as if blaming the elevator for having taken so long to open up. She strides in as she smoothes her smart skirt down, she presses the button that will take her to floor D6 where she's headed; It is at this time that Julian, in a smart day-suit and without his entourage, comes into her view and at that moment, it is all she can do not to gulp down the saliva that seems to have become stuck in her throat.

Julian tries to stop the elevator from closing up and he gets in with Zara.

"Hello Zara.."

That's the first thing he says to her as the elevator makes its final close.

Neither of them notice Justin at the corner, just at the entrance of the building, who forgot some files that he has just remembered to pick up from his office, he watches the exchange between Zara and Justin and catches the part when Julian looks smilingly at Zara, reading Julian's lips, he makes out the words..

"Hello Zara.."

He also notices the look on Sara's face that screams subservience to a person.

Justin is thoughtful for a while just standing there, he knows that it is truly by chance that he has witnessed this exchange. After some time, he walks away from the building, forgoing the files and making a mental note for them to be sent to him.

Meanwhile, in the elevator, Julian is staring at Zara obnoxiously, while she's feeling not and bothered, thoughts of what could happen in a small elevator with a guy as hot as Julian and a woman like her, deep in her thoughts, she is startled out of her thoughts when Julian asks her..

"How's the plan going?"

"Accordingly, sir, everything is going as planned, I didn't give him the files, so they're still on his desk, I'll do away with them tonight and tomorrow, they'll be reported missing, sir. He'll definitely be implicated then"

"Very good, Zara, remember what to do the next time you're out for a meeting." Julian replies her rushed words while also using his hands to raise up her face to his, he intones again, "Keep up the good work, I'll make sure there's a reward" as he maintains eye contact with her.

Zara feels herself getting wet and it is all she can do not to raise herself on her tiptoes, begging him to kiss her senseless.

Instead of that, she just nods rapidly and continues to smooth down her skirt, which Julian notices. While her eyes are trained to the ground, Julian is smirking the entire time, it seems like he knows the effect that he has on her. The ability to make someone as smart and intelligent as Zara to keep mute and subservient. It can only be him, Julian, he thinks to himself.

Just then, the elevator opens up and Zara walks out rapidly, mumbling her departure greetings while Julian stays in the elevator as it closes and continues to move up.

..End of flashback..

(Zara's POV)

.. Perceiving that a little birdie could have sung songs of truth to Justin, the boss that I work for on the surface, I think hard of how to convince him that I'm innocent, just to twist it all in his mind..l begin by saying..

"Okay Justin, okay. I believe that you're not doubting my loyalty, I'll try my best to explain what happened last week Thursday.".

"After office hours, that Thursday, I was going to.."

I already have the false scenarios in my mind, so I do not even stutter when I am talking.

"..So on my return to the office after escorting you, I was going to take the elevator, once I got in and was about to leave, Julian came sauntering into the elevator and in all honesty, I thought he wouldn't come in, that he'd just wait till the elevator was ready again.

Once he saw that it was me in the elevator, he had this cross look on his face, like he was looking at filth. I truly wonder why he entered at all, especially, when he knows that I'm now his rival's secretary, it just felt really weird."

"..I didn't speak to him at all, and other than the mumble of acknowledgement that he gave when I first saluted him, he didn't say a word to me , neither did I speak to him for the 5 minutes of the ride. You have to believe me Justin, I wouldn't cross sides like such a fickle person, besides, it's against the rules."

Justin is silent for a while, he looks like he's turning my words over and over in his mind and frankly, I don't truly mind. I'm sure that as long as it was some little birdie that tipped him off, my words were fireproof and could not be doubted. I evidently didn't take into account the fact that possibly it was Justin himself that had found out that something was wrong and fishy.

"Oh okay okay okay. I'm much more rest assured now, all that fuss for nothing, okay, that's fine then." Justin answers my entire story with these words and when I feel the insincerity in the words, it is then that I become suspicious.

Perhaps he has actually found out that I'm working for his brother? Omdds, that would be disastrous for me. I'll just hold my breath and see how this goes.

(Justin's POV)

All the while that Zara is talking and relating what allegedly happened last week Thursday, I notice the dreamy look in her eyes when she's talking about Julian and it suddenly makes me thoughtful. Hmm.

Screeeeech screech screeeeeeccchhhhh!

I suddenly notice that the car's engine was making some weird ass noises, and I intentionally go to the bonnet so that I can check out the problems of the car, to avoid problems and incidents.

"Uh, what's going on?" Zara asks me and I am suddenly tempted to answer by telling her that I know for a fact that she is not loyal to me though her attempts to outsmart me and make me believe she's innocent is quite backed up by words of wisdom and analogy.

"I think something is wrong with car apart from the..." I begin but before I can even finish, she answers hastily.

"Really? Oh my God, that's terrible, will we have to be stuck here longer than I thought or what?" She asks and again, I am suspicious of her answers.

Having checked, and having no idea of what was wrong, It was then that I look around and Good God, I have no idea where we are, I just know that this is one of the many routes that could be taken back to the office.

I turn and see that Zara is looking around furtively though we are virtually the only car on the road at this time and quite luckily, I was able to park the car at the side of the road.

Thank heavens that we're safe, I mentally give thanks. I look around to see if there's a place nearby where I can get some repairs done to the tires and I am actually devastated when rain begins to pour.

Quickly, I got back into the car and Zara, who had before gotten down, to take note of the damage done to the tires, speedily got onto the car, a little surprised at the rain's interruption it seemed.

Fuck! That's the first thing I think. Now, I will be unable to look or move around for a repair place or person. Damn this rain! I curse mentally.

Flat tires, Unknown Road, Cold Rain that doesn't look like it'll let up in a while and ZARA! Fuck, how am I supposed to beat this combo?!
