At the castle
Kayden's POV
When I lifted my head, to see the person that screamed, the first thing that caught my attention was the sight of blood. Imogen's forehead was bleeding profusely and she looked at me one last time before she collapsed.
"IMOGEN!!" I screamed and rushed to go pick her up.
She wasn't even semi-conscious. With her still in my arms I ran to the car.
"GUARDS!!" I kept on yelling for someone, anyone to go get me the car keys but no one came to me, I couldn't blame them though.
I shut my eyes very tightly, and I was already in my room,with Imogen still half lifeless in my arms. I grabbed my keys from the drawer and shut my eyes again, I soon found myself beside the car.
I opened the back door and almost threw her inside before going to open the driver's door.
I couldn't even control myself, while I was driving as I used my palm to clean my face.
People are right about me, I am nothing but a monster. Imogen was bleeding so much all because of me, I was the one who threw a metal vase at her.
If something happens to her then I will never be able to forgive myself.
I rushed out of the car, as I held her in my arms,and we had arrived at the city hospital.
A nurse rushed towards me, with a stroller and soon they rushed her into the emergency room,asking me to wait outside.
It was when they had begun attending to her that I noticed the blood that was all over my palm, anxiousness didn't let me settle at a place as I kept pacing back and forth like some kind of psycho.
"Ahh" I heard a lady scream and when I raised my head to see who it was, I staggered backwards unwillingly, and used my right hand to cover my mouth.
"I am so sorry" the nurse apologized and picked up the tray, before running towards a certain direction. She had left one of the equipment behind and I went after her, only to see her going into the ICU.
Carelessly,I went into the ICU with her, just to meet her attending to a middle aged woman.
The woman seemed to be in a very critical condition and my curiosity pushed me to ask.
"Nurse, what's wrong with her?" I found myself asking the nurse.
"She has a heart condition, and is in need of an immediate heart transplant" the nurse looked at the lady with so much pity.
"Why don't you just carry out the surgery then?" I asked again.
"Because her daughter is unable to meet the requirements, to find a donor is very difficult plus the surgery is very expensive" the nurse nodded her head sideways.
"That's a pity" I found myself saying before I walked out of the room.
Immediately I stepped out of the ICU, I checked my pocket and it was empty, and realization dawned on me that I was holding my phone in there, I must have forgotten it.
I was about to go inside to get it, when I saw Heaven walk in there.
What could she be going to do?. I waited patiently for her to come out, before I went back inside the ICU.
"Is she the woman's daughter?" I asked the nurse,even before I could fully enter the ICU.
"Yes" the nurse gave me a simple reply and I dashed out of the ICU, remembering that Imogen's condition was the reason that brought me to the hospital in the first place
I am not the kind of person that forgets things, but today must be excluded, everything is just going wrong, I am gradually losing my mind.
"She is fine now, the wound is not as serious as we thought" the doctor placed his hand on my shoulder, as I sat beside Imogen on the bed.
"That's a relief, so would she be out anytime soon?" I asked him and stood up to give him a handshake.
"Yes, just give her two to three days,she will be fine," the doctor informed me.
"Thank you doctor" I replied and checked my wrist watch, it was getting late, and I needed to get back home. I needed to take care of the mess that I had created in the castle, before bringing Imogen to the hospital.
At the castle
Kayden's POV
I woke up the next morning with a very bad headache. I rubbed my head, and my eyes at the same time, but before I could climb down from my bed. I heard someone yelling my name from outside.
"KAYDEN! YOU BETTER OPEN THIS DOOR, BEFORE I BREAK IT DOWN!!" I heard someone banging on my metal door. The voice was very harsh and annoying, it could only be the voice of Alex.
I climbed out of bed to go see the beast.
"Good morning" I greeted him rudely, with a smirk on my face.
"What did you do to my daughter?" He asked me with his raised eyebrows.
"You came back early, we expected you to be back , maybe,…one week from now so what happened, didn't you get hit by a bus or train?" I asked him, as I tilted my head and leaned on the door.
"Kayden,you haven't answered me!! Where is Princess Imogen!!" He shouted again and with the throbbing headache that I was having, he was really making me sick.
"Whatever they told you is exactly what happened so now leave!" I ordered him out but he still remained standing at my door.
"If anything happens to the princess then.." he pointed his index finger at me, probably trying to warn me.
"THEN WHAT?" I asked him and without waiting for any reply whatsoever, I pushed him out and locked the door. I could feel that we weren't alone in the castle, we had guests, and when I heard a femine voice talking from outside,I felt like vomiting.
I knew who it was, and that made me sick to my stomach.
What is she doing here, and is that her father's voice that I hear?. For the first time in my life, I am wishing that my ears are deceiving me.
