Chapter 84: Chapter 84
Kayden came to a halt when he saw that Heaven's taxi had dropped her off at a familiar house. He knew that he had been there before, but he just couldn't remember what brought him there.
"Isn't this Zamiel's little runaway home?" He chuckled and suddenly raised his head.
"Why is Heaven here?" He wondered to himself.
"Hello," he heard her speak over the phone just before she pushed open the gate.
Luckily for him, she was too indulged in her conversation over the phone that she didn't even bother checking behind her when she entered the house.
He took advantage of her carelessness and made his way into the house. He found it funny, how he had to sneak into the house like a thief.
She hung up and remembered she had not shut the gate, and by the time she had turned around, Kayden had already hidden behind the rose bush just by the side of the house.
Heaven on her part was too absent-minded when she shut the gate and entered the house.
"Sorry, what were you saying?" She put the phone down, and on speaker mode, as she searched the small bag she was holding, for something.
"Don't you even miss me a bit? Common, I do a lot for you and you don't even see that" Kayden heard a male voice from the other end of the phone. And he clenched his chest, as he felt an arrow shot directly at his heart.
"That's not true, I miss you a lot. Your playfulness and all" she giggled, blushing.
"I see," The male voice responded.
And Kayden almost had a heart attack, when he finally figured out who the male voice belonged to.
It was Zamiel, but how could Zamiel do this to him?
He already had an ear full, as he turned around and took his leave.
Heaven heard the gate closing as she ran out of the house, but the compound was empty and she concluded that she was hearing things.
Kayden's PO
Kayden's POVu a lot. Your playfulness and all" Her voice kept on playing in my head like some kind of sick music.
I wanted to throw up, never have I felt this kind of heartache before. The last time I felt this way was when my girlfriend cheated on me back in high school…
"Be careful crown prince" A maid warned me when she had noticed I almost lost balance climbing the stairs.
I turned to look at her with devilish eyes, she was so frightened she dropped the tray she was holding and ran away. I shook my head, in confusion. Why was I venting my anger on her, when she wasn't responsible for the circumstances I find myself in currently?. She wasn't the cause of the pain I was feeling, neither did she have a hand in it.
I felt like k*lling everyone and destroying everything that stood in my path. But, everyone was lucky enough to avoid me.
I didn't know how to vent my anger, who to blame, or what to do. I was so confused, and in so much pain too. Maybe, I shouldn't have woken up, maybe I should have died instead, I think I prefer hell instead.
Why is this affecting me so much? Why do I feel betrayed? We were never in love, and the contract never stopped her from getting another man.
She wasn't so different from other women I had come across, maybe I just needed more women in my life. I had gotten used to having only her around me, I think it would be better if I explore somewhere else since she has already chosen Zamiel over me.
At the office the next morning
"I don't know why you are acting like you have just seen a ghost. Get up from the chair" Kayden forced his door open, and Zamiel was in shock. He didn't expect Kayden to resume work so early.
"Didn't you hear me, or do you need me to use a microphone " Kayden repeated himself, and nothing pissed Kayden off more than when he had to repeat himself.
Zamiel slowly got up, and Kayden's new secretary entered the office at the wrong time.
"Who are you?" Kayden asked her, making himself comfortable in his office chair, a seat he hadn't used for a very long time.
"She is your new secretary" Zamiel hurriedly said, when he was just at the exit of Kayden's office.
"I didn't ask you" he raised an eyebrow at him.
"What's your name, and what happened to my old secretary?" He turned to the fair tall lady in front of him.
"My name is Clara, and I don't know what happened…" She was talking when Kayden slammed his hand on the table.
"SHUT UP!!" He yelled, and she stood there like a mannequin with her legs shaking.
By this time Zamiel had already left the office, comfortably seated in his car, and ready to flee from Kayden's wrath.
He was so scared of Kayden at this time, he knew Kayden to be ruthless, but when he looked into Kayden's eyes, he saw wickedness. Not Kayden's usual wickedness, he saw a different side he had never expected to see in his entire life, something wasn't right with Kayden and Zamiel was eager to find out what it was.
If only he knew that he was the reason behind Kayden's sudden change in behavior.
"Why are you still standing here? Leave my office. I don't like lazy people who know nothing but go give excuses as to why they didn't do their job correctly" Kayden chased Clara out, even if she had done nothing wrong. Poor thing, ran out of his office crying her eyes out. It was just her second day of work and Kayden was already treating her like an ex-convict. She swallowed hard, as she organised herself, leaving Kayden's office with a heavy heart.
