Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Heaven's POV

I woke up to an empty bed, and an empty room as well. But I could hear some ruckus from outside. I slipped into my shoes and walked out, just to see what was happening.

"What are you doing here?" I heard Kayden talking to someone, but I couldn't see who it was.

The person he was talking to was backing me, no one had noticed my presence. Everyone was gathered in the ballroom, and it looked like the two were about to fight.

"Come on little cousin…this is also my house. In case you have forgotten?" The deep male voice spoke. His voice was charming and appealing. I was so curious to see what he looked like.

I walked over to Kayden and the image that met me was jaw-dropping….why didn't I marry him instead?

He had brisk eyebrows and dark curly hair. A concrete jaw, a hawkish nose.

His eyes, his eyes reminded me of the rainbow because they were ocean blue. The kind that could make me want to drown.

The way he licked his lips, before he tapped Kayden on the shoulder was something else, it made me feel weak in the knees.

And I had to wonder, if I had fallen in love with him, at first sight.

"Don't touch me!!, you are not supposed to be back until next year" Kayden shrugged his shoulders, and forcefully brought his hands down.

"I'm older than you, so don't shout at me like that…Is she your wife? The one Imogen doesn't like" He teased Kayden, and licked the roof of his mouth.

Kayden soon darted his eyes towards Imogen, who just looked away in fear.

"She is hot, Hi,my name is Zamiel. Cousin to this demon?" He offered me a handshake, I was quick to take his hands in mine.

But, Kayden didn't let me, he held my hands and forcefully brought them down.

"Don't touch him, let's go" he dragged me to the room.

Zamiel just stood there, smirking at himself. God damn it! His lips made me want to k*ss him. I don't think I have ever been so anxious to k*ss Kayden before.

"Kayden stop, you are hurting me '' I shouted at him, struggling to free my little wrist. He was grabbing it so tightly, I felt like my hands were going to fall off.

"Should I leave you?. So you can go ahead and flirt with my cousin. His lips make you want to k*ss him huh?" Kayden raised an eyebrow.

When did I even say that out loud, nope I am sure I didn't say it at all, I only thought about it. So, it's either he is a mind-reading freak, or he uses black magic.

"Just get dressed for work" he pushed me into the room.

"I don't want to go to work today. I don't feel too good" I placed my palm on my neck, trying to avoid work. At least, if he leaves, I will be able to spend some time with this Zamiel guy.

"No! You're going to work, and if you refuse. I'll k*ll Zamiel, because I know he is the reason you are avoiding going to work" he frowned and shut the room door.

I was ready in twenty minutes. I got to the dining table, only to meet everyone already having breakfast.

Breakfast was weird and unusual, it's not like it was normal before. But it felt different, there was a kind of unusual silence.

Even the king didn't want his plate and spoon to make a noise.

"So, why did you marry him?" Zamiel talked to no one in particular. But it was obvious he was talking to me.

"I…" I wanted to speak up but Kayden intervened.

"Shut your mouth Zamiel. You are spitting in my food, you don't talk while eating!" Kayden made it sound like an order.

"Excuse me?" Zamiel didn't seem to be shocked, but his question seemed to be mocking.

"I am older than you little cous.." he mocked Kayden some more.

The way his voice and words rilled Kayden up, really surprised me.

Zamiel seemed to enjoy every bit of it, as he didn't stop smirking through breakfast.

"Yeah, by a few months you mean. Stop talking, and don't look at Heaven like that" he warned and stabbed the meat with his fork.

The way he picked up the meat scared the hell out of me, because I felt like he was stabbing Zamiel with the fork and not the meat.

"You haven't changed a bit. I thought getting married would make you a better person, that demon still leaves in you" Zamiel shook his head very slowly, as if he was disappointed in him.

Kayden just remained silent, concentrating on the food. He didn't want to say anything, I don't think I'll be able to understand him anytime soon.

Sometimes, he talks nice and is caring, and other times. He is very strict, and doesn't even want to hear my voice or have anything to do with me.

Zamiel seems like a much more playful person, and I am sure we would get along better than Kayden and I.

"Let's go, we are running late now" Kayden reminded me when he was done eating. I just drank whatever was left of my orange juice, and followed him.

I wonder why he was so grumpy all the time. Doesn't he ever find anything to make him happy?.

"It would make me happy knowing that my wife isn't attracted to another man, not just any other man. But my cousin?" Kayden said directly to me, as he helped me put on my seatbelt in the car.

"You said you don't love me, and our marriage was never for love. So, why can't I find love somewhere else?" I rolled my eyes.

"You can, when you are no longer married to me.

And even if you want to find love elsewhere, I'll never let that so-called "love" be Zamiel" he spoke with so much authority, and made sure he stretched out, and emphasized on the love, using his fingers to do air quotes.

He needed serious counseling but he didn't know it.

"Ahh!!" I screamed because of the way he zoomed off.

"Are you trying to get me k*lled?" I asked him furiously.

"If you keep saying nasty things about me in your head, then I might.

Just keep silent and don't think any nonsense, or else we might both die in a car accident" he said in a low tone, not averting his eyes from the road. He was weird, super weird.
