Chapter 12: Chapter 12
Kayden's POV
I had barely stepped into the castle when someone threw a punch at me. I knew who it was, but I just had to check anyway. There was only one person, capable of doing that. It was Zamiel.
"Are you mad?" I didn't restrain myself, as I also threw my hands at him. Aiming for his face, it didn't take too much effort for me to knock him down, but he got up almost immediately.
Grabbing my arm, and twisting it behind my back. I grunted, and hit him in the stomach with my elbow. That managed to get him off me, just for a while. As he stood up again, and came at me.
The fight got heated, but no one would dare to separate us. It was only him that matched my strength.
I felt a liquid gush out from the side of my mouth. I was surprised to see blood.
My own blood, I can't even remember the last time someone had hurt me, to the extent of making me lose blood.
I was the only person capable of hurting myself, and that really made me mad. I was going insane, and the anger inside me just built up to another level.
I attacked him again, pushing him to the ground, and throwing heavy blows at him. He didn't waste time to turn the tables, as he also defended himself.
As he was now on top of me, I kicked him off and he went flying in the air, but he didn't fall on his back like every other person.
He landed on his feet, that just irritated me. Why couldn't I get him to just loose?.
There was no way I was going to back out of the fight. He started it, and must surely be the one to end it.
"KAYDEN!!!" He charged at me, running towards me like a rhino, and pushed me to the floor.
I resisted, and kept on hitting him.
Everyone watched us fight like animals, not even Alex, not the guards dared to separate us.
Alex didn't dare because he knew the consequences, he knew he was going to get hurt in the process. And the guards were just mere guards, they dared not to interfere in the affairs of two princes.
The amusing part was that we had been fighting for over twenty minutes, and I still didn't know the cause of our fight. I mean he had attacked me first, so I wasn't going to just stand and watch him.
I saw one of the guards holding a dagger, and I ran towards him, snatching the dagger away from him.
I headed towards Zamiel with reddish dark eyes.
But I immediately stopped in my tracks, when Heaven came in between the both of us. Is she insane? Does she want me to k*ll her?.
So the kingdom will add her name, to the list of innocent people I have k*lled so far. I am the victim, she shouldn't let them paint me as a monster anymore..
"Kayden stop!!! You will end up killing each other if you continue like this" she spread her arms wide open so she was blocking my path. She was the only thing standing in between me and k*lling Zamiel.
Heaven's POV
"Tell your wife to stay out of this!!" he shouted at Kayden, giving him a sound warning that seemed more like a threat to me.
And who the hell did he think he was to be warning my husband like that?.
" And if he doesn't? What will you do? Let me guess…." I took a sudden pause and then placed my hand on my waist.
"Then, you are probably going to beat me up and have your way to right?" I asked him rhetorically, and just as I had suspected. He had no answer for me.
"That will just show the whole world how weak you are, to beat up a lady in front of her own husband.
And as for you my husband, you want to k*ll your own cousin…well" I moved away.
I wasn't standing in between them any longer, I gave them the chance to face each other, and deal with each other the way they both wanted to. But, neither of them could launch an attack.
"Go ahead and kill him, I think it would be best if you both die, at least then everyone will be able to have their rest" I urged them.
I barely knew Zamiel but I saw the way guilt flushed through him, with the expression on his face.
Kayden felt no remorse whatsoever, the only thing he felt was anger.
"I will, when I get the right chance to….and besides it is all his fault.
You all saw the way he attacked me" Kayden refused to take responsibility for his actions, and I found his reaction rather very childish.
"But…" I wanted to talk, but he didn't let me complete my statement before he walked out on me.
I ran after him, I wanted to get to him, before he locks me out of the room again. He didn't do that anyways, he just went to the bathroom and had a cold shower..
I wonder how he felt, with the cold water running down the injuries Zamiel had inflicted on him, it must have hurt him so much.
"Are you upset with me?" I asked him, the moment he walked out of the shower with a towel, drying his hair off.
He didn't answer me, in fact he didn't even act like anybody was in the room with him.
He just kept silent throughout the entire time and I felt really bad.
Initially, I thought that when he shouts at me, I would get hurt but now I have realized that there's nothing that hurts me as much as his silence.
"Kayden please say something. I know I shouldn't have stood up to you out there, but I just couldn't let you k*ll your own cousin.
You know, in a kind of way he is your brother" I talked to him, while he looked at the mirror, combing his hair.
It seemed like my last statement must have rung a bell in his head, as he turned to look at me, with the same darkness I saw in his eyes a few moments ago, when he was about to kill Zamiel.
For a second there, I thought that he was going to strangle me.
" HE IS NOT MY BROTHER!!" He shouted at me, and I could have sworn that I felt the ground shake beneath my feet.
"He is not my brother, he can never be my brother. So don't you ever refer to him as that" he said in a low, yet frightful tone. I swallowed hard and walked backwards away from him.
"I didn't want you to get into trouble because of him, plus he has hurt you so much.
You need to attend to your wounds" I rushed towards the drawer to get a first aid box. But, how did I know that I would find one there?.
It doesn't matter anyway.
"Kay.." I turned around but I couldn't find Kayden anywhere.
My eyes soon darted towards the couch, he had made himself comfortable, and was ready to sleep.
I knelt in front of him so I could treat his wounds, but he shook me off.
"Please don't touch me.
They will go on their own" he turned to the opposite direction and fell asleep.
With a heavy heart, I returned the first aid box and went to the bed.
I looked at him one last time, and turned off the lights, before I dozed off.
