Chapter 33: Chapter 33
Karen's POV
Brody was already awake when I finished taking the last bite of pancake on my plate. He was coming down from the stairs. "Good morning." I murmured.
"Morning sweetheart." He replied with a smirk.
Mom was just coming down from the stairs. "Today's going to be a very big day."
What did she mean? I didn't understand her statement. "Where did you guys go yesterday?" Brody asked his mother as I held a glass of water and quickly gulped down it's content.
His mother yawned and sat on the floor. "It's a secret, we're planning something for you and Karen." She answered with a grin.
What were they planning? I just couldn't wait to see it. Standing up from the chair, I walked to the sofa and sat down. Diego had also finished eating. "How are you?" I asked in a low-piqued voice.
He smiled and winked at me. "I'm fine and you?"
"I'm also fine," I replied. "Care to tell me what they're planning?"
He chuckled and stood up. "No way!" With that, he ran into his room.
I smiled in frustration. I hated surprises and no one was telling me what was going on. "I can't wait to see the surprise." I told Brody's mom.
"I'm sure you'll love it." She replied.
Brody finished eating quickly and came to sit near me. "What do you want to watch?"
"Maybe a romance film."
He chuckled. "Or a cartoon? Raya and the last dragon was released yesterday, do you want to watch it? I could...."
I interrupted. "I'll definitely watch it someday. I'm missing my mom already. I wished I could check what's going on in her reality show."
"She's facing a major opponent today and I'm sorry but she might not win. Joanne is a very good cook and she has cooked for different wealthy parties."
Surprisingly, I didn't get offended by her statement. She was actually right, I've heard of Joanne Watson, one of America's greatest cooks. My mom wasn't even interested in the reality show, she joined so she could take care of herself after she lost her job. "I understand you. She didn't want to win, she just needed help when she joined." I murmured.
Helen came out of her room and yawned. "What a bright morning, I'm so having fun." She shouted.
"A bright morning? This is Eleven o'clock, I can't believe you and Brody stayed up in bed for long." Mom retorted, sarcastically.
I chuckled and rested my head on Brody's shoulders. "I love you." I muttered to him truthfully.
"Was that a fake remark?" He asked in a low voice.
I didn't want him to see me as a cheap prostitute so I replied. "Yeah, definitely a fake confession."
He chuckled and stood up. "I'll be in my room for now, call me if you need anything."
"I'm excited that you're not going to your office."
Brody chuckled. "I'm tired." He replied and climbed the stairs. I looked at Helen as she yawned. "I should be sleeping but I can't sleep because of my photoshoot." She said.
Photoshoot? I loved photoshoots but I couldn't get one even in high school. My mom made me realize that it was for wealthy people.
"What's wrong?" I asked as I noticed her sad expression.
She cleared her throat and looked at me. "My film director wants me to look for a lady who would pose in a wedding gown and I'll take pictures of her."
That looked like an idea to actually pose for a photoshoot. I was so interested. "Have you found anyone to help you."
She frowned and sulked. "No, I haven't."
"I'll definitely help you."
"Really?"
"Of course."
She ran into her room and I stole a glance at Brody's mom, she was smiling at me. She was definitely not a bad person, I knew that she wanted her son's progress.
"That was a nice decision you took, I didn't know that you would accept to help her. I was already worried." His mother explained gently.
A smile plastered on her face. "It would be nice posing for a photoshoot as the bride."
Mom laughed. "Congratulations in advance."
I rolled my eyes in confusion. "Congratulations?" I asked, surprised.
"You'll get to know soon,"
I nodded. What did she mean by that? Did she know that it was my first photoshoot? I must have told her mistakenly. "I should probably check up on Brody." She added and climbed the stairs quickly.
Helen came out of her room and placed the wedding gown on the sofa. "You're going to be beautiful in this."
"Absolutely!" I muttered and touched the gown.
"I can't wait to see you wear it."
Brody's POV
The door opened as soon as I came out of the bathroom already dressed in a plain white shirt and black trousers. Mom walked in with a smile. "Right on time, I'm getting you ready for a photoshoot."
I narrowed my eyes at her in confusion. "Photoshoot?"
"Yeah, Helen's director asked her to get a man to dress up like a groom who wants to get married. She needs it for her project."
This was totally confusing. She could hire someone to help her. Why did she want me to help her? How could I possibly help her? "I hate taking pictures or anything that has to photoshoot."
"A billionaire should upload pictures often on social media."
"I'm a Billionaire's son."
"What's the reason for the photoshoot?"
"Helen's film director wants to give her a lead in the film but she needs to pass the project first and you're the only one that can help her." Mom explained and dropped a box on the bed.
"What's that?" I asked, concerned.
"A suit, black trouser and a red tie is in the box. You should wear them and come downstairs before five minutes." She ordered.
"I'm not comfortable with this." I murmured.
She smiled at me. "You should have fun. There's nothing wrong in taking pictures of yourself." She replied and walked out of the house.
As strange as it was, I decided to wear the gown to please Helen. I knew it would mean a lot to her if her film director made her the lead actress.
Karen's POV
"Wow, you look beautiful." Helen remarked as she gave me a mirror to look at the make-up on my face.
"Yeah, it's not that colourful. I don't want to look like a mad woman." I joked and she laughed.
"You're really beautiful," she said and walked towards the door. "Bring Brody to the backyard when he comes downstairs." She added.
"Alright." I replied and she walked out of the house.
I looked at my face again before dropping the mirror on the sofa. Brody came down from the stairs dressed exactly like a groom prepared to marry his bride. "You're also dressed in a suit." I said in confusion.
"I'm totally confused, why are you dressed in a wedding gown?"
"A photoshoot."
He chuckled. "It seems Helen wants us to pose as a couple for her photoshoot." He said and I nodded.
It seemed like a brilliant thought. "Yeah, I think so too, you're handsome in that outfit."
"And you're also beautiful in that dress." He replied with a smile.
"Thank you!"
He looked around for his family members. "Where are they?"
"Helen asked me to take you to the backyard." I answered with a smile.
