Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Brody's POV

I dropped the laptop on her lap angrily. "Why would you fix that in their room?" I asked angrily.

She frowned and looked at Diego. "Go to your room, I have something very important to discuss with my son." She told him and he quickly ran into that room and locked the door.

"This is nonsense, Mom. Karen would never do anything to hurt me and you should know that."

"I don't trust her, I'm only doing what's right for you and I really deserve some accolades and not insults." She replied.

"So how is this right?" I asked, folding my arms. I wanted her to tell me that she was doing the right thing and also prove her point.

She tutted in disbelief. "I can't believe that you're arguing with me because of a mere girl."

"Mom, you're spying on their privacy." I reminded her.

It wasn't right, she should not have sent her to Los Angeles. "I'm doing this for you."

"I didn't ask you to do anything for me." I snapped.

Patricia walked down the stairs and looked at me angrily. "You don't talk to your mother in that manner." She said.

Now, I was sure that she was the one behind everything. My mom could not send Karen to Los Angeles without her help. "Ohhh shut up aunt, we all know that the devil is better than you."

Mom slapped me and I frowned. "She's your aunt."

I took a few steps backwards and held my face in agony. "Do you know who Michael is? He tried to rape Karen before and there's a possibility that he would try again. I saw him in the video you showed me," I told her and turned to look at Patricia. "You were no way better than Karen when my uncle got married to you."

My mind drifted to Karen, I prayed for her safety. "You should not talk to your aunt rudely." Mom corrected.

"I'm sorry, aunt." I apologized to Aunt Patricia who avoided my gaze and walked into the kitchen.

Karen's POV

"How dare you lie? Brody was there, he knows that you tried to rape me." I defended, angrily. I hated Michael and I didn't want to see him around me.

"You should just leave the room for now." Helen told him and he frowned.

"I'm not scared of you." He said before walking out of the door.

"Is that one of Brody's friends?" I was forced to ask.

Helen chuckled. "I don't know, Brody doesn't hang out with Micheal, they're just business partners and Micheal calls Brody a boss."

I faked a smile even though I was angry. Why would Michael be in this house? "Yeah, I know right."

"We should join the rest of the housemates." She said and stood up.

Yawning, I kept my bag under the bed. "This is supposed to be great, right?" I slanted her a look.

She shook her head in a heavy sigh. "I don't think so. Joe seems like he's so attracted to you." She told me and I grinned.

"Really?" I asked her with a smirk.

"Yeah, it does feel so."

My eyes locked into hers in disappointment. I didn't feel any connection earlier when he hugged me. "Was I supposed to feel a connection or spark when he hugged me?" I asked.

She place her hands on her hips. "Sorry babes, I don't believe in sparks and connection."

I raised an eyebrow. "They're real, that's what caused me to fall at the party when I danced with Brody."

"Yeah, I honestly wanted to find out the reason why you fell down."

Smiling, I recalled that day's event. The moment I looked into his eyes while we danced on the dance floor. I could feel that connection and spark, my heart beat racing at a rapid rate. "I could feel that connection." I told her trying to make my voice remain calm and steady.

"So you finally admit that you fell because of Brody." She mocked.

I felt goosebumps forming on my skin. "I didn't say that." I defended myself, admitting no such thing.

"But..."

"Look, I just want to have fun here. Don't make it look like hell.

She sighed and smiled at me. "Alright, we should join the others."

We left the room and walked into the parlor. Joe was chatting with another girl and I smiled at his direction. "He has a girlfriend." I whispered to Helen.

"Or maybe he's a flirt." She replied in a low voice.

I chuckled loudly and they all looked at me. "Huh Lisa, how's the relationship between you and Brody going on?" A guy asked.

I looked at him and admired his t-shirt before answering his questions with lies. I needed to do everything for that money. It was a huge sum of money and I wouldn't do anything stupid that would stop the contract. "Huh, Brody and I have known each other for a while now and we've been faithful and loyal to ourselves." I answered with a smile.

"That's a beautiful love story." He remarked and I blushed at my lies.

"Thanks."

"I'm Leo," He replied and I blew him a kiss. "Wow, wasn't expecting that." He added and I chuckled. Walking towards Joe, I sat down and he looked at me, shyly. "Hi babe."

I frowned. "Don't call me babe, I'm Brody's babe."

He let out a slight grin and chuckled. "I already know that. It was an harmless joke and you should probably laugh."

Looking at the girl who sat down near me, I decided to inquire about her since she refused to talk to me. "Who's she?" I asked.

He shrugged and wrapped his hands around her shoulder. "A friend."

I nodded. "So when did you guys come?"

"One hour before you came." He answered quickly.

Sounded fair! "Huh, I hope I'm welcome here."

He smiled and winked at me charmingly. "Certainly."

Brody's POV

"Here's the laptop, you can monitor your girlfriend's activities." Mom said and gave me the laptop again. I hesitated for a second because I wanted to trust Karen but it was so hard. I knew Karen could do anything for money. Holding the laptop carefully, I climbed the stairs and walked into my room. Slamming the door gently, I dropped the laptop on the table and looked at myself in the mirror.

"I'm so cute." I muttered and sat on the bed, I pulled the table to my side and switched on the laptop. It was actually a good idea to monitor her. I couldn't pay her the money if she revealed the contract mistakenly to anyone and I silently prayed she won't get drunk.

My heart beat increased a little when I saw her standing with the other housemates. "Lisa, who do you want to share a bed with?" Helen asked a shy girl in their midst.

I laughed. I was very sure Karen would choose to sleep on the floor rather than sleeping on the same bed with a man. "I'll stay with Martin." She said and sat on the bed.

I chuckled and looked at Helen. "Karen, who do you want to share a bed with?" She asked her.

Smiling, I held the laptop on my hands eagerly waiting for her reply. I just couldn't wait for her to tell them that she would sleep on the floor. "I'll share a bed with Joe."

The laptop fell from my hand as soon as I heard that name.

Was she in love with Joe?
