Chapter 54: Chapter 54

The truth happened when she returned home from college, Danas returned home in a sad state, even though Davina had defended her in front of the class.

Danas entered the house with tears in her eyes. Walking quickly to her room. Christina saw her employer. Her crying sounded sad, even though Danas was already in the room, the sound of her sobs was still heard.

Christina then took the initiative to go to Danas' room, bringing drinks and food. If possible, she also wanted to calm her employer. Although Christina was sure that what Danas needed right now was Melvin.

Christina then knocked on Danas' bedroom door.

"Come in!" Danas said from inside the room.

The senior household assistant then opened the door quietly. "Madam, eat first. Madam doesn't seem to have eaten yet."

Danas turned to Christina, "Just put it on the table," she said as she wiped her tears.

Christina saw that Danas' study table already had some study tools.

"Eat first, ma'am. No matter what you're going to do. It's good to have a full stomach, so the baby will be calm."

Danas thought what Christina said was true. So, Danas ate her food quickly.

Danas was in a hurry to finish her meal, because there was so much to do.

After eating, Danas continued his work in earnest. He still had sewing to do, but the attentive Christina didn't stop delivering food, or milk to his room.

"Don't forget to eat, ma'am," Christina warned.

Danas just nodded, still focused on the design. Then she sewed the dress according to the design she had made. She was tired beyond measure that night, but Danas had to prove that she could finish it, too. Plus Christina always delivered food for him, Danas felt cared for.

Every once in a while, he felt nauseous. Danas just took a breath, then sighed softly.

Until late at night, everything was done. Danas lay down on the bed, locked the door and turned off the lights, leaving only the lamp on the nightstand as light.

Davina, who was worried about Danas' condition, called her best friend.

Danas gasped when his cell phone rang loudly, and the name that appeared on his cell phone screen was Davina's name.

"Hello?" greeted Danas first.

"Are you okay?" asked a worried Davina immediately. "Sorry, I couldn't make it home," Davina said hurriedly. "Did Melvin do something bad to you?" Davina became even more worried.

"No, she didn't. She saw the state I was in earlier."

"What?" Davina's voice was shrill, incredulous.

Danas smiled. He stroked his stomach, which was now slightly distended. "No, Davina."

Davina sighed. "Okay, are you still working on your design?"

"It's all done now. Hopefully I'll get the most out of it tomorrow."

"Yeah, right," Davina guessed to herself that Melvin was now meeting with Renata. "Alright, I'll hang up. Have a good rest."

"Okay, see you tomorrow."

The phone connection was disconnected. Danas' hand reached out to stroke his stomach again. It felt like this was a new thing that Danas was addicted to doing.

"Good night," she whispered against his stomach. "I'm sorry if I woke you up. Pray for me that tomorrow goes well."

Danas smiled to himself, feeling better after Davina called and talked to her stomach.

The next day, Melvin wasn't awake yet but Danas was already at the dining table.

Christina had already prepared breakfast for her mistress. "This mistress, a nutritious breakfast is good for the baby," she said excitedly.

"Thank you, Chris." Her eyes were still looking in the direction Melvin used to sit.

After breakfast Danas went straight to the university by taxi.

Danas used the trip to campus to prepare her designs. If the sketch was dirty or had scribbles, Danas cleaned it first.

Until hse arrived at the campus. Davina was already there. She greeted Danas. "Hi, how are you? Ah, please don't talk, it must be very good," Davina's voice sounded very enthusiastic, while embracing Danas' shoulder.

Danas shook her shoulder. "Already, already, I need to go to the lecturer's room first. To submit this design," Danas showed Davina the folder containing the sketches she had been working on all night.

"Can I see it first?" asked Davina, curious about the contents.

Danas looked at Davina for a few seconds.

"I just wanna see it," Davina said, meaning to break the tension, but Danas didn't seem to be in the mood. Or her face was very tired.

Danas sighed, "I just hope the results will be good."

"That's for sure," Davina replied with a thumbs up. "Be enthusiastic, okay? The lecturer will really like your design."

Danas smiled and took a breath. She was sure today was a good day for her. There was nothing to be afraid of anymore. Danas and Davina walked slowly to the front of the class. Before the lesson started, the lecturer wanted to assess the design that Danas had updated. He immediately called Danas when stepping into the classroom.

"Danas!" the lecturer called. "I wanna see the improvement of your design."

Danas, who had just entered the classroom, immediately approached the lecturer, who was sitting in a chair.

"Is your design finished?" asked the lecturer.

Davina who was in the same class also nervously looked at Danas.

Not far from the lecturer's desk, Renata stood with her lopsided smile. She crossed her arms in front of her chest.

"I'll bet that Danas can't come up with a new design overnight."

Davina who heard what Renata said turned her head. "We'll see," she snapped in a sarcastic tone.

Renata who heard the answer from Davina felt shocked. She looked sharply at Davina.

Danas explained to the examiner for the design of the clothes he made. Where did the inspiration come from, the idea and whether his friends copied the existing ones.

Danas easily gave an explanation about the design he made. Witnessed by several students in the class. The students really paid attention to what Danas explained. Some of them were amazed by the design Danas made.

"You made this overnight?" said one of the students.

"Yes," Danas replied loudly, knowing that Renata was nearby. There was nothing wrong with Danas bragging a little.

"I think this is a good design," said another student.

The lecturer who examined the design that Danas made, nodded. "Yes, if I may say so, you got a perfect score!" said the lecturer.

"What? Didn't I hear wrong?" Danas smiled widely in the end. Still not believing what the lecturer had said.

"Yes, it's perfect, your design is so real, artistic and atestic," the lecturer added. "In fact, I dare say, you got the highest score here. So. Congratulations, your efforts were not in vain."

Danas' smile grew wider. While several students congratulated Danas.

Davina who stood beside Renata glanced at the woman. "You heard, right? The grades are perfect!" Davina smiled wryly at Renata.

Renata said nothing, "At least she paid someone to do the design," she accused.

Davina was furious at Renata's accusation. "Danas, it's not you who's doing everything you can to get praise from people."

Renata then looked at Davina, "Hey, why are you defending her now? Are you her servant?"

All the students' eyes were not directed to Danas and the lecturer anymore, but now directed to Davina and Renata who were arguing about the grades Danas got.

"Yes, just admit that Danas' grades are better than yours!" accused one of the students. His voice was so loud that he pointed at Renata.

Davina smiled mockingly at Renata. "You saw it yourself, didn't you? All the students in this class admit it."

Renata was angry, upset and disappointed all in one. Her face reddened with shame, she said nothing more. She left the class immediately.

The whole class cheered Renata.

"That's it! Stop it!" The lecturer mediated his students who became brutalized because of the scores obtained by Danas and Renata.

"So, I declare, Danas, that your score is the best in this class," the lecturer informed.

"Is that right?" Danas couldn't help but smile, her hand automatically touching her stomach.

Davina also approached Danas. "Kudos, Danas!"

Danas nodded, her heart tucked with pride. It was not in vain that he struggled all night.

Davina then followed Danas until their class finished today. "How about we celebrate?" Davina suggested. "I'll buy you some food."

Danas shook her head, it was lunchtime, almost afternoon in fact, but Danas was late to eat. "I got a perfect score. Are you going to treat me?"

Davina chuckled. The campus cafeteria was crowded with hungry students. Davina took Danas' hand, until they were at one of the food outlets.

"Let's just eat. What do you want?" asked Davina.

Danas took the tray to get the food. She looked at the menu on the board behind the cashier. "I'll have the rice package with vegetables and grilled chicken," she ordered.

The cell phone in Danas' bag rang, and her eyes widened when she saw the caller's name. "It's Melvin," she said, with a messy heartbeat.
