Chapter 17: Chapter 17

Danas had never seen the man who reprimanded her before.

"Who am I? You don't need to know who I am. Em, and why I'm here is because I saw a beautiful girl making a face like she was going to end her life, especially by taking the fire escape. I thought you were going to kill yourself. That said, it wouldn't be good if you killed yourself here."

"You'd better stay out of other people's business," Danas said curtly, then chose to leave while the man scratched his head that wasn't itchy.

"Did I do something wrong?" he asked and stepped out of the fire escape.

Melvin stopped his footsteps when he saw the man who had just come out.

"Jagad, what are you doing here? And, what are you doing there?" asked Melvin who had just come out from inside his room.

"Saying hello to a friend," the man replied casually. "And, that-just curious about that beautiful woman over there, I thought she was going to kill herself so I followed her but she ignored me."

Melvin snorted. "Come on. Let's go in."

Several employees saw him, instantly mesmerized. Jagad found the stares of the female employees a little uncomfortable, as it was the first time he was there.

" Do you want me to make you a drink?" asked Melvin, offering Jagad a drink.

"If you make it yourself, I'll drink it. Of course, not your assistant," said Jagad, not forgetting to point at Rangga.

Melvin made a drink for Jagad, then sat down. "Drink up."

Melvin looked at the man who was in front of him right now. There were no words, just silence, remembering what happened to them a few days ago after the meeting, if Jagad beat him up.

"Looks like your cheek, it's not bruised," Jagad said while pointing toward his own right cheek.

"Yeah, but your punch was pretty strong." Jagad chuckled.

There were no more grudges between the two of them, such was their friendship.

"Want to have lunch together?" asked Jagad.

"No, I still have to finish some important paperwork."

"Hey, come on. It's on me, think of it as an apology for bruising your face for a few days."

Melvin sighed. "Alright, if that's what you want," Melvin said getting up from his seat, taking his coat and putting it on.

"It's your treat, I know that."

Check!

Rangga had just returned, the man was quietly looking for Danas' whereabouts, his assistant more attentive than Melvin himself.

"I'm going out for lunch with Jagad."

Rangga nodded his head. After that, he looked at the two men who were embracing each other.

"Until now, I still don't understand how a woman like Mrs. Danas is capable of murder?" muttered Rangga as he closed the door and tried to contact Danas. "What if-" Rangga's sentence hung, but the evidence continued to dismiss the whole thought.

Danas chose to take a taxi back home. Throughout the journey, the woman kept crying. She still couldn't fully understand what Melvin had said. How could she be accused by Melvin?

What should she do now? Go home to her parents and tell them what she had experienced. Or face her own household problems? Would she be able to?

Her feelings were mixed. When she arrived, Danas chose to curl up in bed until she was tired of crying.

At the office on his way to the restaurant, Melvin stopped his footsteps when he saw a woman standing in front of the company. Renata, the woman was staring at him. Seeing who the woman was, Melvin immediately hugged her. Jagad seeing that could only snort. Lunch with Melvin was canceled because of that woman.

"Where have you been?" asked Melvin hugging Renata tightly. The longing for the woman in his arms was so deep, even he hugged her tightly.

"I looked for you but didn't find you. Why? Why did you..."

Melvin's words hung, he couldn't continue what he wanted to say. He didn't need that answer anymore, the most important thing was that Renata was back.

"I guess we'll just cancel lunch today, I don't want to disturb you two," Jagad said then left Melvin's presence.

The handsome doctor somehow felt unhappy with Renata's presence. He chose to get out of there as soon as possible. But not Melvin, Renata's presence made his frustration disappear instantly.

"You're probably tired, I'll take you back to the apartment," Melvin said, pulling Renata's suitcase into the car.

"Em. I was tired for a few hours on the plane," whined Renata.

"Alright, I'll take you to the apartment," Melvin said while rubbing the woman's head lovingly.

Everyone was staring at them, it was no secret that the two of them had a special relationship.

"Rangga. Give me the car keys," Melvin pleaded, making Rangga quickly give the car keys to his boss.

Renata's apartment was not far from Melvin's company, it was on orders from him because he didn't want to be apart from the woman he loved. It took 10 minutes to get to the apartment.

When they arrived at the apartment, Melvin immediately kissed Renata's lips to vent his longing for her. Both of them were breathing hard, until they ran out of oxygen and then they broke their bond.

To release their longing, the creaking of the bed sounded so loud as well as small sighs, until after a while their voices could not be heard.

Melvin rubbed Renata's face gently. "Why did you leave when our wedding was so close?" Melvin asked making her look at him.

Renata glanced at Melvin, she just remained silent not answering Melvin's question. "Well, if you don't want to say it, I won't force you. It's enough that you come back to me."

"M-Melvin, I-that is, I-I..."

"No need to say it now," Melvin interrupted while putting an index finger on Renata's lips. "You better get some rest, I'm going back to the office," said Melvin getting out of bed and cleaning himself up.

The water from the shower washes away the sweat from his and Renata's struggle on the bed. His mind was not at ease, he did not have the courage to say what really happened. Saying that she was married, his tongue was heavy enough to say that.

"Did you think of something, Honey?" asked Renata as she entered the bathroom, taking a shower together.

"Um yeah, I've been working quite a lot lately," Melvin lied.

"I must have worried you," said Renata hugging Melvin.

"It's okay, as long as you come back, that's enough for me." Melvin hugged Renata, not knowing that there was a heart that was hurting because of his actions.

Danas was curled up in bed, she was devastated after knowing everything that happened. How would she live her day together with Melvin?

The sound of the door shutting loudly made him immediately get out of bed and wipe away the tears. She knew very well that Melvin had returned. Hurried footsteps down the stairs made Melvin glance at her.

"Are you hungry? I'll make some food," Danas offered as he put on a pink apron and started to open the refrigerator door.

The argument between her and Melvin earlier in the office wasn't one Danas hadn't forgotten, it was just that she was afraid that not welcoming Melvin would anger him.

For a moment Melvin glanced at the clock on the wall, it was 8 o'clock, he had spent a lot of time with Renata. Now his stomach was hungry. His eyes looked at Danas who was cooking. A sense of ego came over him, he didn't want to eat the woman's food but his stomach was hungry. When Danas served the food, she immediately tasted the food. For the first time she could eat Danas' food.

Danas looked anxious, afraid that his cooking this time would be thrown away like the first time he cooked. However, what he thought didn't happen, when he saw Melvin eating his food with gusto.

Melvin's tongue enjoyed Danas' cooking so much, he didn't even hesitate to add more food, not caring about Danas who was watching him. The look on Danas' face was so happy to see that.

Brak!

The door suddenly opened with great force. A woman wearing a red dress and high heels walked up to them.

"Honey, let me sleep with you," she exclaimed, making Danas turn around.

Danas gasped in shock, as did the woman when she saw who was in front of her. The two pairs of eyes stared at each other. "D-danas..."

Just like Danas, Renata was also surprised. How could that woman be in front of her right now, more precisely at Melvin's house?

"W-why are you here?" asked Renata emotionally.

"I-I live here."

"You? Live here?" asked Renata emotionally while looking at Melvin, she needed an explanation from her boyfriend. "Explain to me, what happened, why is she here?" asked Renata demanding an answer from Melvin who was sitting while looking at Renata.

Seeing no answer made Renata full of emotion, she demanded an answer from Melvin who was silent as if he didn't want to explain what was going on.

"I married her," Melvin replied quietly, making Renata even more emotional.

"You married her? W-Why? Why did you marry her? Don't you love me?" asked Renata.

"Yes, I love you, but you left me two weeks before our wedding and made me have to find a replacement bride," Melvin explained emotionally, his voice filling the whole kitchen.
