Chapter 224: Chapter 224

“Does this mean, I am forgiven, babe?” Lucien asked grinning widely.

“I can’t be mad at you more than a minute, apparently. I don’t understand myself, I want to cry one moment when you act or say anything that offends me, but when I don’t see you the next second, I miss you like hell. I’m confused myself, I won’t be surprised if you get tired of me one day,” Brianna sobbed. “Pregnancy hormonal change drives me crazy nowadays!” she whined helplessly.

“Caleb, honey, do you agree if I say your mom looks so cute while saying l those words she just said?” Lucien cautiously asked his son. Lucien even spoke in a soft voice expressing he was not very sure he should say them out loud but couldn’t help and asked away anyway.

“Dad, do you think mommy will be mad at me if I say I can’t disagree with you on that?” Caleb whispered back.

Brianna covered her face with both her hands as she could not help but frown and laugh at the two male species, and somehow were like bullies in her eyes, yet she could not find anger in her heart and get mad at them. The way they seemed to be so cautious in expressing their thoughts and opinion was like a tickling hand strumming her ribs. How can she ever be angry at them when their facial expressions showed the purity of their hearts speaking their opinions?

The father and son were worried when they saw Brianna covering her face but they felt relieved when the next moment they saw her shoulders shaking and when they tried to pry her hands off her face, Lucien and Caleb realized Brianna was laughing with her tears streaming down her cheeks.

All throughout Brianna’s pregnancy, her mood swings had not changed, until the day Abigail Michaelson was born. Everyone in the immediate family came to welcome the baby girl. The great-grandpa and the grandparents were beyond excited to meet their little princess, but the father was so overprotective. Lucien would only let others hold the baby for a maximum of five minutes because he would take the baby in his embrace.

While Brianna was recuperating after her second C-sec delivery, no one could do anything about Lucien’s behavior. But when she woke up, Brianna kept Lucien busy assisting her so the elders could take turns watching and playing with the babies.

“What a beautiful angel!” Exclaimed Leandro tearfully. “I have always worried life would be too short for me like my dear wife had it, but here I am, surrounded by my precious family, and holding the most beautiful great-granddaughter and great-grandson I could ever ask heavens for. I wish to live longer and see how they live life but even if death comes knocking on my door tonight, I will not fear it. I am even excited to join my dear wife out there and tell her everything about all of you,” he whimpered softly s he stared at the baby girl’s sleeping form on the fancy crib.

Brianna’s recovery did not take long. She was on her feet for only a few weeks, but she did not engage in anything strenuous knowing it would worsen her still-on-progress recuperation. Sandra and Levi also hired the best in the field to assist her in the comfort of their home. And to let the mother rest, Sandra would volunteer to take care of the children from time to time. Sandra and Levi even took a few months of leave from work to ensure they assist the young couple in raising their kids in whatever way Brianna and Lucien would ask of them for help. It was a win-win arrangement since Brianna admits she had no good foundation on how to grow children taking from her experience, while the elders from the Michaelson were all eager to help and assist. Brianna saw how sensible Caleb, her firstborn, had grown in the guidance of the elders, so she was happy she accepted their hands when they extended them to help her. Now, having the second child, Brianna also understands that the elders may not have the same endurance of patience, and strength as they used to, so she was willing to give her best and only ask for their guidance when there is something she is not confident about.

As for Lucien, he was a dad wrapped around in his daughter’s tiny little fingers. He could see the great resemblance between his wife and his daughter as he stared t the photos he captured of her daughter and compare them to Brianna’s pictures when she was the same age.

“I love you, babe! I don’t even think there is any word to describe and explain how much my heart adores you,” Lucien said with his tears clouding his eyes and finally traveling down his cheeks. “Thank you, for everything. I’m sorry you had to go through the burden of pregnancy and childbirth. I promise to share every task we ought to face from now on…” he solemnly vowed.

“And thank you for giving me the family I never thought I was even worthy to dream about,” Brianna answered softly. “Damn, I am starting to believe I am getting emotionally weak.”

The couple chuckled, wiping tears for each other. The moment Brianna’s environment changed, the painful memories of her past had been covered up with joy and happiness. As this happened over time, her cold personality started to warm up and her emotions started to freely show naturally.

Caleb and Abigail Michaelson grew up healthy. Physically, psychologically, and in every aspect of their lives, from the early years to their adulthood, their parents' and grandparents’ love and guidance led them to a life of great happiness and abundance. Leandro passed away when Caleb was in his early teens due to old age. They mourned and grieved but only because they would not get to see him in the flesh again. They did not have anything to regret as they had loved Leandro even to his last breath with all their hearts.

Brianna and Lucien's family along with everyone around them enjoyed and lived their lives with joy, and laughter as they loved and respect one another. And so, despite having occasional storms and tests of patience or strength,  they won over through the wisdom and kindness of their hearts that they have learned through life experiences and led them to have good faith in everything. They had harmony with everyone they lived, worked, and have connections with.
