Chapter 189: Chapter 189

While Lucian and Brianna were happy in their peaceful slumber, outside Brianna's yard went busy. Jack had an eye from outside Brianna's yard through the security cameras installed. He could check the footage of the security cameras inside the house, but no matter how he tried to find where Brianna and Lucien were, Jack could not see them. He just came to a wild guess that the two might be having a rest in her bedroom—the only spot in her house without any camera or hidden microphone.

And Jack saw the footage of Brianna and Lucien walking into the house, but there was no sign of them walking out. So, he gathered they were still inside it when an alarm of the trapped being set to operate automatically was sent to him.

"What is going on?" Jack called Enzo as soon as he realized the two, Brianna and Lucien, were in her place, but the alarm still blared on his side.

"Someone tried to make a hit on them while they were at the cemetery earlier tonight," Enzo answered without hiding anything from Jack. "We do not have an eye on the Young Master and Anna, but the GPS on their phone showed they are in her place. Can you confirm this fact? I have to inform Don Leon about everything accurately," Enzo stated.

"I do not have eyes on them, but checking all surveillance cameras from Brianna's place, they went in, but there are no signs of them walking out of there. And the only place in the house, blind to my sight, is her bedroom. And I saw them walking to its door from the hallway. Every exit from there will be visible from the yard's security cameras, but I have not seen them anywhere after the footage from the hallway."

Jack explained in detail, knowing Enzo would have to report to the old Michaelson. Then he continued.

"The traps in the yard are set to automatic release with only sensors to trigger them. Brianna will not walk out of her house in such danger, so I would like to believe they are just resting."

"Can you send me a file of the last footage where you saw the Young Master?" Enzo asked politely.

Jack paused for a while. He was not sure if he should grant Enzo's request or not. He played the same video clip. There were a few of them from different cameras, but following the timeline, Jack could put them all together and create a single clip of them to watch in less than a minute length of the video.

"I am not sure Brianna will allow this, but I have no way to speak to her right now. None of them are taking my calls," Jack cleared his throat. "And I have a wild and funny guess that they don't want to be disturbed at the moment."

Jack saw how Lucien carried Brianna from the control room downstairs to her bedroom upstairs. They weren't being indecent, liking kissing torridly on their way up, but the intimacy in the air could never be denied. Jack was not blind to everything Lucien was doing for Anna, and he would be glad if Brianna would give the man a chance. It was just not for Jack to interfere. He was all-out supportive. He would even joke at Brianna about her impressive suitor. Jack saw how her responses had gradually changed, from ignoring his jokes with a sneer to being passive and tolerant until her reactions turned to weak smiles and tolerating Jack's crazy antics.

"I will take the blame," Enzo readily replied. "I have been trying to contact the Young Master, but after the last call he made, his phone would only keep on ringing. He never answers my call. The Old Master will be anxious if my report isn't crystal clear."

The pellucid distress in Enzo's tone and voice did not escape Jack's ears even if they were just talking over the phone. So, Jack sighed in defeat and reminded Enzo to admit this fact to Brianna when things go south for Jack.

"Just make sure to let Brianna know I am left with no choice here, Enzo. Are we good?"

"Positive, Jack Foster. I give you my word," Enzo replied affirmatively.

"Okay, I am sending you the file now. I strongly suggest you keep it secured and unseen by more than you and the old Michaelson. We don't know what consequences lie ahead of us if we piss this girl in the video even in the slightest," Jack said as he filled his lungs with air to their limit.

Jack could already think of many ways Brianna would torture him if she did not like what he had just done, sending that footage for anyone else to see. He was shaking in his knees, but he was also somehow confident to claim that the Michaelson wouldn't want her and Lucien harmed. The video clip was only to calm the old Michaelson from worrying as he was elderly, it might be fatal, so Jack could take it as an acceptable excuse.

Then Jack also told Enzo the updates of what was happening in front of Brianna's house. The Michaelson's IT team did not have enough eyes to monitor what was happening around since they could only access the satellite cameras they could hack into. The report from their men on-post as Enzo had ordered them to do after receiving Lucien's call.

"I told Blake Gordon about the movements I saw in the backyard. Do you want to send anyone from your men to assist?" Jack returned to his proper and professional behavior. The worry about being roasted by Brianna was moved behind his thoughts, taking the tasks on hand to be more in dire need of his attention.

"I will send Tatum Eliott to assist Blake Gordon and the rest of your team. Among our men, he is the only one to have seen the place inside and out before tonight. I believe he will be fit for the job," Enzo answered. "Where do I send Tatum to?" Enzo asked.

"Just let me know where Tatum is right now, and I will tell Blake about his location," Jack answered. "They will be riding bikes, so I guess it will be easier to swing by wherever Tatum is and be on the way together to Brianna's place," he added.

"Understood," Enzo agreed. "I will return to you when I get to speak with Tatum Eliott."

The line was cut, and Enzo did as he said to Jack. He dialed the number of the former driver/ bodyguard turned team leader for Lucien's security. That day he was sent to a more urgent mission that he was not able to join the battle against Terrence Clayton. Well, no one thought that day would be the day to finish that scumbag. Something came urgent for the old Michaelson to deal with silently that he sent Tatum discreetly. Only the three; Don Leon, Enzo, and Tatum, knew about the latter's mission that day before Lucien and Brianna were attacked.

His mission was a success, but even before he could enjoy his rest to the fullest, he heard about a team of their men being sent to guard Anna's property.

Instead of Enzo, Tatum made the direct call to Jack as soon as he got the orders from Enzo to assist Brianna's team on their backup rescue mission.

"Jack, I will be riding my bike too. Let me know where I can cross paths with Blake or with anyone on the team," Tatum spoke to Jack as he geared up, preparing to deploy.

"They will be taking a dirt road track to drive around the area and leave their bikes hidden somewhere in the woods a few miles from the target location," Jack answered. "If you have a digital map on your phone, check the routes possible to access the target area, and you will understand the hints."

"I will get there in about twenty minutes. I hope I am not too late. I can walk behind and follow their trail; if so, let Blake move ahead," Tatum declared.

"You might just arrive at the same time if everything goes as planned," Jack said after checking the location Blake and his team were at the moment to where Tatum was according to his position traced from the call they were having at the moment.

"Alright then, over and out!"

"Good luck, soldier!" Jack sternly said before the line ended.

Tatum arrived at the place but saw no one around. He just estimated the distance from where he was to where Anna's house was. Using his night vision binoculars, Tatum checked his surroundings. He saw a group of men in combat attire moving cautiously around, heading in the same direction Tatum was supposed to go.

Tatum checked his military watch. Even if Blake's team had arrived earlier than him, Tatum was sure they wouldn't have gotten that far already. He checked his surroundings again. Tatum made sure no one was nearby to hear him making a call to ask if Blake and his team were the ones Tatum saw were getting too close to the border lines of the woods to cross the plains behind Anna's backyard.
