Chapter 146: Chapter 146
Because if this person was the enemy, it was like Brianna was walking right into the lair. But she did not care. Whether it was a witness or the enemy itself, she was ready. Because if they are not coming to get her. She will go and hunt them. It's been too long. Justice should have been served already. But with how things are going, turning their tragic death into an unresolved cold case file, almost erased in the records at the very system that was supposed to protect them, it was really getting so disappointing. So, Brianna was willing to do anything and everything, risky or not. She was aware there was no easy strategic plan for this.
She would dare be bold because she had lived for this moment. She has survived countless death, and she believes she is more than ready. In case she failed, despite all her efforts, training, and expertise, she would still be brave enough to meet her parents on the other side, if there is such, and apologize for her failure.
What matters most is the fact that she did try, and she did everything she could.
But of course, Brianna was looking forward to getting justice and bringing it as her most precious gift for her parents when she visits their grave the next time. She will try to be lawful and deal with her enemy according to the law, but they shouldn't count on that thought so much because she might renew her mind and end up not bringing such animals, who made her an orphan, to court. If it comes to the point she gets face to face with the person who did this to her family, and they try to send her death as well, Brianna had her mind set that she will be the judge. She will not hesitate to send them to hell first, if necessary!
Lucien turned to look at Tatum and gave orders discreetly inside the elevator. They found an empty parking spot by the roof of the building, so they had to go down three floors from where they were.
"Inform our men to observe men and women in the whole area. We might be meeting a woman and not a man today," he spoke closely to Tatum as he stepped back to get close to his driver bodyguard.
Since they were going to a public area, Lucien and Anna were wearing casual clothes of jean pants and shirts. They also blend in with the crowd. Brianna erased her makeup in the car while they were on the way here. She wanted the person to recognize her as Brianna Peters, daughter of Elizabeth Patel-Peters and Leith Peters. She only had a baseball cap to cover her face until she was sure they had found the person they were supposed to speak to.
And maybe for security reasons. The person was not just using one burner phone. So aside from having contact through receiving messages, the IT team could not detect the accuracy of its location. Because the person would turn the phone off as soon as he's done sending a message. They were told to meet the person in a public area. The message said that they were supposed to have lunch at a mall's food court. Brianna and Lucien had no problem with the location. They did not need to hide. They just want to talk to the person and hear what the person has to say. It was only by chance that they saw this person's file somewhere while digging; every stone was turned, every corner was checked, and every possible chance to uncover any hidden information.
Without even having enough time to look around, Brianna received another message. Lucien did not notice as she intentionally did not open the message right away. Brianna wanted to have a good look at her surroundings first. She will try to see if she can tell which one she needs to speak with today. So she casually led Lucien to a table around the center of the whole food court. She pretended to look at every stalls signage for the menu with posters and images of different delicacies. But under the visor of her cap, she was looking for that specific person that would stand out in her sight.
It was lunchtime, so there were a lot of people. And people waiting for their company should not be forgotten to be considered. Some were already seated at a table while using their phones to send a message or, for whatever reasons unknown, most people were looking and using their phones.
"Anna, what would you like to have?" Asked Lucien. Tatum was sitting at a table behind Lucien, separate from Anna and his boss. He was told about the drill. He was to pretend he was not with the two, so it was up to him if he was going to get anything to eat or drink or not.
Anna had to smile; she had to make the impression that she was having a date, so she could stay on her spot and look around while waiting for her date to get the food they were going to eat for lunch.
"I'll have whatever you're having," she casually replied with a Duchenne smile.
Lucien could not help smiling gleefully back at the striking beauty her face would show off whenever she would smile this way. No one would ever believe that smile is from someone with every inch of a - kick-ass, bad-ass, scary as hell- woman!
Looks can indeed be deceiving! But he wasn't complaining. He loves to see that smile all the time, if that would even be possible. Well, Lucien is ready to admit that there is nothing about this girl or woman or person in general. He would not embrace risks, dangers, death, name it. But of course, he also yearns for enough time to spend with her with deeper connections and understanding. With a relationship where even if he dotes or gets to do everything for her, as long as she does not reject his presence, he would be happy. He knew Anna is not an expressive person, but she has her own way of assuring Lucien she does not despise him, or at least that is how the whipped young Michaelson feels about her.
"Okay then, I'll be right back," Lucien dashingly smiled before he got up from his seat and walked to the counter where they were supposed to give their orders and pay to get the receipt and claim their orders at the booth where the number would be declared as every stall had their menu list with specific numbers.
Anna followed Lucien's back with her gaze. A smile was still plastered in her, only half visible, face due to the baseball cap she was wearing. Then as the man left, the girl casually checked on her phone to read the text she got from earlier. She saw the message. She discretely spoke to the mic on her wrist.
"Send someone; a woman, to sit at the table closest to the wall to the left on the third row," Brianna was holding her phone close to her ear as if she was talking to someone over the phone. It made her wrist lift close to her face, and so her commands were clearly received.
Jack asked Blake to pay a woman with a hundred bills to do what B had ordered. It was clear to understand that they needed a woman, and with B also aware that there were only men in her team, she made her command very specific, so they had to improvise.
As her team was doing the task she wanted to be done, which she was aware of through the earpiece she was wearing, she casually looked around. She was checking anyone who would react when a woman sat at the spot she was told in the text to sit on. Brianna was in her owl personality mode, man, woman, young, and old; she was paying keen attention to everyone and every detail. She was very observant to notice and remember even the littlest of things.
There was no way she would miss anything possible to appear around here.
First of all, it was in broad daylight. They were in the open. She can shoot her target at three thousand yards distance with accuracy, even with the target on the move. How could she miss a distinguishing person for her to discover in such a distance she has now?
And Bingo!
She saw what she was looking for.
