Chapter 133: Chapter 133

Jack was beyond ecstatic to know that Brianna's memory was back. What she said just a while ago was a hint. It was a clear message when she said, "I will call you when I need you." They have been using this line many times over these years. He was not sure at first, but when Brianna looked him in the eyes, he understood. She was telling him to get out of this place as soon as possible. She needs him not beside her but afar, being her eyes and ears just the way they used to be. Jack was like a child laughing and smiling from ear to ear as he drove back to his place.

When he held Brianna by the hand, he actually gave her something that was a tiny earpiece and microphone which Brianna could speak to him. Jack realized why did Brianna had reacted the way she did; she must have been scared to see him together with her in her enemies' place. Brianna needs to know a lot of things, but Jack is well aware that he cannot just burst them all out without giving Brianna time to process everything she is going through. Jack was confident that with Brianna's intelligence, she would easily catch anything strange in her surroundings. And she will also realize that she was not surrounded by enemies but allies. If he spoke without giving her time to think things over, Brianna would doubt that Jack had been fooled or told to say things according to their commands. That might give Brianna the idea not to open any thought or conversation with Jack. That was why he did not go against Brianna's silent instruction to leave the place. She must be thinking she could move more efficiently if Jack were not among the things she had to consider in case something out of her control happens. She was injured. Herself alone would have already been challenging for her, and she won't get to focus and move as fast as she has in her mind if she has any baggage to mind along the way.

Jack knew her too well to feel confident doing as she firmly ordered.

(Back to the Villa...)

Brianna was in a befuddled state. She needed to organize her thoughts, including her now turning to be extremely complicated memory.

"I would like to have a rest," Brianna politely requested. "I would like to be alone," she added when she noticed Lucien was reluctant to leave. "You should have a rest, too, sir," Brianna bowed her head as she spoke. She was worried Lucien Michaelson would notice her clenched teeth and jaw.

"Okay, okay," Lucien did not want to cause Anna stress, so he complied. He wanted to insist he would stay, but when she bowed her head, Lucien thought Anna was feeling pain in her chest wound, so he folded his bulldog spirit.

"You too," Brianna glanced at the man who introduced himself as a doctor, Clark.

Everyone left Brianna alone in the room, but only after Clark and Lucien made sure she was well settled. Brianna fell into deep thoughts. She discreetly looked around. This was the same room she woke up to after saving her enemy's beloved grandson. But she erased that thought. She tried to recall why she got injured. Brianna closed her eyes. She let her memory playback inside her head. She recalled everything. From the moment she thought Lucien hired her as his personal bodyguard, forgetting she was there to be his personal secretary in order to get close to Leandro Michaelson without attracting the attention of his security team. Brianna also recalled how she defended Lucien from a group of assassins who wanted to take him alive. She could recall clearly how she shot Charles Anderson an inch close to his chest.

"No matter how Jack feels about him, right now, I cannot end the life of that devil," Brianna murmured.

She knows how it feels to be an orphan of both parents. Brianna did not want Jack to feel the same. If Charles dies, he dies, but not in Brianna's hands. It must have been her subconscious mind that made her shoot Charles only close to fatality. B made sure she did not hit the evil man's wicked heart. She wasn't sure how she could anticipate that they would have someone to come over as soon as they called for emergency medical assistance, but it saved Charles Anderson, no matter what.

Then her thoughts returned to the man she thought she had saved. Unaware that that knife was actually aimed to hit her. She also recalled Tatum confirmed her assumptions that they brought the guy with them.

"What did he mean when he asked if I know Charles Anderson's real name?" Brianna murmured again. "I need to know. I feel like that is a key to something I really have to understand."

She did not make her words audible to anyone, and unless one could read her mind, they would only get gibberish sounds of her murmurings. She knew she was being watched. And she already had postulated the presence of a microphone somewhere in the room to have an ear present to anyone who wants to listen to her. Medical purposes or not, Brianna deemed it wise never to say anything that would expose her.

Calculating the time that passed, Brianna assumed Jack had already arrived. She checked the tiny thing Jack pressed in her palm earlier. Brianna carefully placed the earpiece in her ear. She made her movements look as natural as if she was just trying to stretch her left arm, knowing her wound was to the chest on this side. When she made sure she got it secured in her left ear, she covered her face with both her palms and groaned.

"Do you hear me?"

Brianna stayed in her position until she got a response from Jack.

"Tell me everything you know," she ordered before pulling her hands out of her face.

Jack was worried. He could not decide whether to tell her or not. He was not sure how Brianna was going to react now that they were not face to face. But he was also worried about keeping her in the dark, which would definitely result in nothing good. No matter how Jack tries to justify his actions. It was like jumping over the bridge or not and getting caught by the enemy- in short. There was no better option. The most difficult part is knowing he still has to choose one from them. It was a do or do!
