Chapter 107: Chapter 107

"Sir, where do you think you're going?" Brianna asked Lucien with a frown as he tried to climb up the rental jet the group could provide through the help of the old Michaelson.

"I am going with you, don't worry, I am not diving. I just want to see as much as possible and make sure you are safe," Lucien decisively answered. But he was blocked by the girl he was dead set on keeping safe.

"Negative, sir," Brianna replied firmly. "You have to stay here and be safe. They are after you, remember? Going with us is like giving yourself to them in a way."

"No, I am going with you," Lucien tried to pass through the girl, but he was startled when she held him with a tight grip on his arm.

"If you make things difficult for me, I will quit this job with you, right here, right now," Brianna made her voice casual. It was as if she was talking about something as simple as choosing a channel to watch on tv.

The men on diving gear behind Lucien panicked and the ones behind Brianna. The team was aware of that tone. The mercenary team knew Boss B would never argue about anything. She will make her decisions clear, and the other party will have to choose whether to comply or disobey. Whatever the other person prefers, Boss B will never hesitate to do as she said.

Brianna saw the alarmed faces of her men behind Lucien, but she did not change her countenance. This young Michaelson is going to make things difficult for her if he is with them in this mission. Even if it's just as he claimed that he would only stay in the jet and not dive with them, she is certain if she let him in for one step, she should be prepared if he tries to take another step in. That is not negotiable right now. Lucien will slow her down. She stayed firm in her words, and she added to count.

"I am giving you ten seconds to stand back, or you can go ahead, and I am out," Brianna declared, no longer holding him. She was giving him the freedom to choose. But Lucien saw the fear-stricken faces of the men behind Anna. It was as if they were begging Lucien to back down.

"Sir, with all due respect, we need her more in this mission than anyone else," Max Beckett spoke behind his Boss B. His tone was never rude. He was honestly pleading.

"Four, three, two..." Brianna counted aloud. But Lucien butt in before she could say the last number.

"Alright! Alright! But I insist, you bring Tatum with you," Lucien had known from his grandpa that his driver is not an ordinary man like he used to think. "He is a soldier. He will know what to do if you give your orders," Lucien pulled Tatum Elliot from behind him and pushed towards the jet door. He clearly gave his order to his man to protect and obey Anna's orders, protect her with his life if necessary. And Tatum gave Lucien a soldier salute, affirming his commands.

"Sir, yes, sir!"

Leandro Michaelson was watching and listening to the whole conversation via the live mic and video cameras on Lucien and Tatum's gear. Enzo was with them in the place as he personally came to talk to the jet rental owner to make sure no delays happened. He will be Lucien's escort on his way home, as Tatum might not be enough to guard the young Michaelson just in case they get ambushed along the way home.

Leandro was against Lucien's decision to tag along with the mission, but the old man could not stop his grandson. He had a slight confidence Lucien wouldn't make it to go with Anna's team, but as Lucien was too eager, Leandro just waited and saw. He just made sure another team would tail Anna's team if Lucien insisted and made it to the mission. The grandpa was helpless, but even if he could not stop his stubborn grandson, he would provide measures to ensure his safety, so he did not use an iron hand to stop Lucien.

"Now, I really like this girl!" Leandro roared in a loud hoot of laughter in his control room. "She can tame a stubborn beast like my grandson," he exclaimed as his contagious laughter filled the room. Everyone around him was lip-tight as they hid their own laughter. Then he looked at the screen monitor. He saw the jet leave the ground. Leandro's vision was from Lucien's camera, so he knew it was Lucien still staring at the aircraft until it totally disappeared in his sight.

"Young Master, I suggest you watch them from the control room. For a clearer vision, do you agree?" Enzo carefully asked.

Lucien seemed to wake up from a deep slumber and vaulted from his spot to the nearest car. Someone was already in the driver's seat, so Lucien sat next to the person and hurriedly ordered.

"I need to get to the control room as soon as possible."

The man behind the wheels did not dally.

"Yes, sir!" He quickly replied and left. Enzo and everyone else drove after the vehicle with Lucien, and they all arrived at a record-breaking speed. The man driving the car with Lucien used to drag race, so he enjoyed the drive while Lucien was happy with his talented yet safe-arrival driving skills.

"I might need you again in the future. Thanks, man!" Lucien jumped off the car as soon as it stopped in the driveway. But Enzo also jumped off from his ride to nag at the driver who recklessly drove the young Michaelson from the jet hangar to the mansion.

"Do not fire him, Enzo!" Lucien shouted with his back to the old Michaelson's assistant. "I might need him again. I need people who know about racing around me these days!"

The driver who sent Lucien home sheepishly smiled before Enzo, knowing his actions would have been called for a great reproach from his superiors, but as it was Lucien Michaelson who asked him to fly the car if it was possible, he did not disobey. Although he admits he did not just do it because he was ordered to, he also enjoyed the rush of it, so he was half-hearted about the consequences of his bold actions.

"Thank you, sir!" the driver responded loudly at Lucien's words to protect him from Enzo's anger, making the man keep his job.

"You're lucky he defended you, but I suggest never to indulge in the future. If anything happens to the young Michaelson, you won't know what hit you. You will wake up in hell!" Enzo warned him with a burning gaze. Enzo knows how the old Michaelson would feel if he knew what happened or if anything had happened to his beloved grandson. It would be unimaginable. Enzo wants the driver to have a glimpse of the wrath he will see and receive if he does not take heed of his warning.

"I am so sorry, I only followed orders from the young boss," the young man bowed his head before Enzo. He was aware of his mistake. He was not going to be proud and put himself in a more complicated predicament.

While Enzo was busying himself to reprimand the driver, Lucien almost hopped and jumped his way to the control room. He was too eager to see Anna, even from the wides screen only.

"Grandpa!" Lucien called out. "Grandpa, I'm here!"

He was still in the hallway when Lucien screamed to call for his grandpa. He barged into the control room.

"Grandpa! What do you see?" Lucien asked as soon as he came into the room.

"You look for yourself," Leandro said smugly. He silently teased his grandson that he could not go along with Anna on a mission as he insisted on his grandpa earlier.

"Don't tease me, old man," Lucien knew his grandpa so well not to notice. He was trying to rub off the smug face of his grandpa as he shook off his masculine aura and let his pitiful look show. He was disappointed with himself.

"I wish I were sent to army like Tatum," he murmured as he watched the team diving off the jet one by one. Lucien could tell it was Tatum to dove last as he had captured everyone diving down. The young and old Michaelson saw how the team pulled their chutes one by one as they reached a specific measure of height they were from the earth's surface.

Leandro chuckled.

"Do you think we will ever need Anna if you could protect yourself on your own?" Leandro mentioned wisely.

Lucien turned to look at his grandpa. He realized his old man had a point.

"I need to learn some basic, grandpa. Please help me," Lucien blurted out with a pleading tone. "As much as I like the feeling of being securely protected with Anna around, I also want to be able to protect her somehow." Lucien was helpless that he seemed too weak compared to the fierce personality of Anna.
