Chapter 42: Chapter 42

Meanwhile, Helena feels she should pay more attention to Natty. She stayed near Natty. Although it makes Natty feel unable to freely meet her lover. Helena always sticks to her more than usual, and that makes Natty give up. She had no chance to spend time with Gale at school.

“Why are you acting weird today?” asked Natty.

“I just want to spend more time with you. I felt like these days we rarely spend time together.” Helena answered, saying only the reason.

“Is there anything bad going on at prom?” asks Natty, right, attacking Helena.

“No, don’t talk about the Proms anymore. Let’s just go to the cafeteria.” Said Helena in a slightly irritated tone.

They went to the cafeteria. After ordering the food, they both stared all over the cafeteria trying to get a table that fit them. But the canteen is so crowded, and it’s almost impossible to find an empty table for them to stay in.

But then Natty sees Drake eating himself. Natty pulls Helena’s hand and takes her to sit down with Drake. Actually, Natty can see that drake is sad right now, so she wants to cheer him up. Natty immediately patted Drake on the shoulder and embraced his shoulder. That makes Helena quite shocked because she doesn’t know that Drake and Natty’s natural enemy-like relationship is now a close friend.

“h are you doing eating alone here? Are you in trouble?” asked Natty.

“Yes, something quite personal.” Drake replied while glancing at Helena as if telling her be couldn’t tell a story because there was Helena.

“Then why are you here? You don’t...” Drake and Natty nodded their heads as if they understood each other.

“Yes, I know why...” Drake while glancing at

Actually, Helena secretly knows what the two boy and girl in front of her can’t tell in front of her. She knew and started to realize that Natty was more open to others than she was. She was disappointed and started to question why it was now her distance and Natty was moving away. Helena can’t tell any of that and just keep it to herself.

“It’s weird, why does it feel you’re talking about me.” Replied Helena.

“Of course not.” Natty replied, lying with her sweet smile.

“Yes, you’re an exaggeration. Maybe it’s your narcissistic syndrome.” Said Drake in his rant.

Actually, Drake is not someone who likes to say bad things about someone. He never liked to hurt other people’s hearts. It’s just that the pain he’s feeling makes him more sensitive, and saying harsh words is like a temporary dope that can relieve a bit of his pain.

Natty immediately pinched Drake and tells him to shut up. Drake stares at Natty with an upset stare. But Natty instead looks at him sharply, as if she doesn’t accept Drake insulting Helena. Drake doesn’t think about Natty still having that kind of attention to Helena.

“But since when did you become this close?” Helena said with a thin, forced smile.

“Maybe since I saw what you couldn’t see. Helena, you never really saw Natty.” Drake says a cynical smile to Helena.

Drake and Helena stare at each other. It’s as if Drake is attacking and Helena is holding out. Natty’s attention, meanwhile, is distracted. The passing Gale caught her eyes. In that short time, Natty captured Gale’s message she wanted to meet.

Natty didn’t want to miss a chance, so she patted Drake on the shoulder and Drake also seemed to know what she wanted. Drake nodded his head, and it made Helena feel suspicious of the two of them. She seemed like there was something Natty was going to do, and she felt it was a bad thing.

“I’m sorry, I have to go now. There’s a problem with my stomach, it’s an emergency.” Natty said putting on a face of pain clarified that it was just pretend.

Helena is eager to catch Natty who leaves, but Drake holds her back and doesn’t allow her to leave. She tries to find a gap but Drake’s eagle eyes never stop staring at her as if he’s going to catch Helena right away if she moves one bit.

It forces Helena to sit down with Drake who monitors her. It felt so awkward that the air hit Helena’s heart. She felt claustrophobic even though she was in a large, open room instead of a narrow enclosed room. It’s all because Drake looks at Helena like she's a prisoner who has to be watched.

Drake smiles at Helena, who is restless and continues to stare in the other direction and bite her lower lip. Drake found it hilarious to see Helena becoming agitated just because Natty was unattainable. It’s funny because he's never seen Helena this much with Natty before.

“It’s pretty weird. Since when did you pay attention to about Natty?” asked Drake with his smirk that baffled Helena.

“What do you mean? She's my friend, of course I care about her. I’ve never once been so bad at her.” Helena and Drake shook their heads.

“No, you only care about yourself. You never cared about her. So, why are you trying so hard to show that you care about her?” said Drake, provoking Helena’s emotions.

From the beginning, Helena has been trying to contain her emotions. She struggled to interpret Drake’s attitude by attacking her with harsh words. She's trying to make it public because she's been hearing rumors about Drake’s relationship. Thinking that it was just an escape from the pain of heartbreak, Helena tried to accept all that.

But Helena can’t hold it when Drake acts like he knows everything and says she never cared about Natty. Helena can’t accept that because for her, she always cared about Natty. Natty has always been the number one most valuable person she cares about the most. Helena couldn’t stand hitting the table with her palm and stared at Drake with her eyes wide open and very ferocious.
