Dawn came back as usual. The orange rays of the sun shone, the sound of birds chirping and the morning dew that still covered the leaves and flower petals in the hospital garden. Ruby was sitting on a park bench with her head leaning back and closing her eyes, enjoying the sunshine that greeted her body.

“vitamin D ...” Ruby muttered with a big smile.

“What are you doing here?” Her dad asked Ruby with his white robe.

“I'm photosynthesizing so my body gets lots of vitamin D. Can you shift a little? You're blocking the sun. “ Ruby said with a annoyed face because her father had prevented her from getting sunlight by standing right in front of her.

Her dad could only take a deep breath and shake her head. He could not stop thinking with Ruby's behavior, which was so relaxed as if her body condition was not in a terrible condition. He was surprised by how Ruby could be so oversimplifying her sickness.

The leukemia that she suffered from since childhood is not a minor sickness that she can underestimate like a fever. She had already passed out at school and was rushed to the hospital for medication. But as soon as she wake up, she acted as if nothing had happened to her. Instead of lying in her room and resting, she sat in the garden and acted like she was on vacation.

“You know you don't have chance to play around like this, right? Come on, it's time for your medication. “ Said her father forcefully.

Ruby snorted, and she was very forced to stand up and follow her father to undergo her treatment. Actually, Ruby is also distressed about her body condition, which is getting worse. She knows better how the changes that occur in her body than anyone else. But she couldn't show her weak face, she didn't want to reveal her weak side.The walls of her ward felt very narrow and scary to Ruby. The smell of medicine that filled the entire hospital building which she had to breathe for several years made her feel sick. She wanted to run away, and she went through like she could be crazy, but she endured it. Ruby is brilliant to cover up all her fears and act like she is enjoying her life with no worries at all.

This is her way to take care of her dad who is distressed about her body condition, whereas Ruby knows that every time her dad must struggle to pay attention to for his patients. She knew very well that her dad had many problems filling his mind, and Ruby just didn’t want to add to the burden on her father’s mind.

Alex started his day with renewed vigor. He liked school more so much that he has been smiling since getting out of the car that drove him. He stepped confidently, as if he had been reborn. And for the first time Alex understood the pleasure Drake felt when they walked down the school hallways. Usually, he felt uncomfortable with the gaze girls gave him, but today Alex enjoyed it.

He went to the art teacher’s room to inform her, he would join the painting club. Yes, the reason Alex is so happy is that he can do what he loves, painting. He got so excited he couldn’t wait any longer and ran straight to meet Mrs. Gale at the teacher’s office as quickly as he entered the school.

“Alex, what are you doing here? Is there something you need to say to me? “ Asked Mrs. Gale as quickly as she saw Alex who approached her and stood with a big smile at her desk.

“Yes, I want to learn to paint please accept me in the painting club,” replied Alex while smiling broadly with enthusiasm

Alex spoke so that everyone in the room eavesdropping on students outside the teacher’s office could hear what he had just told. The teachers didn’t move as if they were frozen at Alex’s words. Even the scholars who were eavesdropping outside were hysterical.

They never thought Alex would join in a school activity that had no effect on his grades. Everyone also knows how much Alex was obsessed with his grades. Even if many people came to him and persuaded him, Alex would never join in any club activity that would not serve his grades. That’s why they were so shocked when Alex said he wanted to join the painting club. It felt as if they were seeing one of a kind.

“Are you sure you want to join the painting club?” asked Mrs. Gale, looking at Alex as if to make sure she hadn't overheard

“Yes, I will join immediately after school. Can i? “ Said Alex with sparkling eyes.

“Yes, sure.” Said Mrs. Gale.

Alex also smiled broadly then went to his class very excited. Soon the news of Alex joining the painting club spread throughout the school. All the girls get hysterical and want to enter the painting club because they want to be close to Alex. Likewise with Helena, who has liked Alex for a long time. She smiled broadly and with her sparkling eyes she held Natty's hand so that Natty could only stare at her with a confused look as she tried to shift her gaze in another direction.

“Hey, what's wrong with you? You scared me, don't look at me with that weird look. “ Said Natty while moving her eyes left and right avoiding Helena's gaze.

“Alex joined the painting club! My friend, you will help me join right ?! ” Said Helena, her eyes sparkling with a big smile full of enthusiasm.

“Don't you remember yesterday that you forbade me to join that club again? And now you're telling me to come back and bring you in just because Alex joined in. Well, I can only surrender to my fate, right? “ Said Natty while glancing at Helena.

Helena could only smile and chuckle because she really knew what her best friend was saying. Helena was embarrassed, but she brushed it off and took Natty's hand. With her eyes shining brightly she looked at Natty with a pleading look until finally Natty gave up on her and nodded her head.

Yes, Natty can never refuse Helena's request. Her heart was always so weak that she could only fulfill all her best friend's wishes. Natty feels sad because Helena looks so happy that she will be able to meet Alex at the club activity later. Natty knew that it was her decision to help Helena realize her love. She shouldn't feel this way, but still, she is sad and her heart hurts whenever she sees Helena's face who is so happy talking about the person she likes.

Natty could only sigh and then went to the toilet to wash her face. That's the way to disguise her red eyes and wipe her tears without a trace. She always did that whenever she wanted to cover up her sadness.

“Well, how does it feel to hide your feelings? Do you felt better covering it up like that?” asked Mrs. Gale, who was standing in front of the toilet door, staring at Natty, who was washing her face.
