“Why hasn't Alex come back yet? I need him so that my head doesn't break. “ Drake muttered.

Knock! Knock!

The sound of knocking on the door was heard and attracted the attention of the class. Drake saw Alex and Ruby standing in front of the entrance. It relieved Drake that he would be diminished of the headache that was tormenting him right now.

Ruby saw a slight nervous when all eyes were on her. Maybe it was because she was a little afraid that she would get into trouble and be punished by the teacher for skipping class. But Alex looked very relaxed. He even tried to convince Ruby that she didn't have to worry too much because everything would be fine.

“Please return to your seat.” Suggested the teacher.

Ruby was a little shocked because everything happened as Alex did. There was no problem. Even the teachers said nothing and just let Alex sit back at his table. Ruby also became curious why no one was amazed when Alex was not punished, indeed though he had skipped school. Everyone seemed to already know that Alex would not accept indeed the slightest scolding from the teacher. Ruby who was curious could not help but ask. Ruby asked Alex in a suspicion so that no one would look at her.

“Alex, why didn't Mr. Caesar scold us at all?” Ruby asked in a whisper.

“ehm because I have special treatment rights for certain people?” Replied Alex while lowering his eyes as he told that.

“What is that? Do we have that in our school? Why don't I know at all? “Asked Ruby with an innocent face that made Alex chuckle.

Everyone knows that Alex is always more privileged than other students. That's because Alex is the smartest student in school and also the eldest son of the Maxwell family. We can say the Maxwell family to be like a family that is respected by people as much as they respect the royal family in England. But Ruby doesn't seem to know that, and it makes Alex feel even more that Ruby is the funniest girl.

Time flies, and you don't seem the bell that marks the end of the school echoing to every corner of the school. The school corridor was immediately filled with students leaving the classroom and walking towards the school gate. Meanwhile, outside the gate Mrs. Gretta Maxwell was standing beside her car, which she parked in front of Alex's school gate while living for Alex to come out.

She yet continued to pay attention to the people who came out of the door and squinted her eyes, trying to find Alex among the hordes of students walking out of the school gate. Gina and Diana who were yet living in the car felt tired because they had been living for a lengthy time.

“Mother, is it yet long?” asked Gina who was already feeling very bored

“In a moment, wait a little longer.” Mrs. Maxwell said persuading Gina as she stroked her daughter's face.

Gina sighed, and then she glanced at Diana, who sat beside her while reading  a textbook. Gina, who was very bored, wanted to approach her twin sister, but Diana had already known about her naughty intentions. Diana also closed the book she was reading, then glanced at Gina with a sharp gaze until Gina felt reluctant and gave up her intention.

thereafter Alex walked towards the school gate with Drake and Ruby. They seemed to have a lot of fun when they joked, laughed and talked about their plans for celebrating Alex's birthday with great fanfare.

It excited Alex when he found out that his friends were planning to throw a birthday celebration for him. He never did a party for his birthday because his parents were always busy with their work. The only thing he got was a gift that came late or decorated the house a little and gave a Christmas present as a birthday present even though his birthday had passed quite a while.

Alex smiled broadly in front line of his friends. However, his smile faded when he saw his mother was standing in front line of the gate with his two younger siblings. Gina, who had been sitting in the car, opened the car door and then ran quick while screaming for Alex as her brother.

Alex also spread his arms and hugged Gina, who was running hard towards him. Gina kept saying how bored she was waiting for him. Gina is being so spoiled that Alex has to try her best to calm her down.

“ Let us go home.” Said Mrs. Maxwell, inviting Alex home.

Alex also turned to his friends as if he was asking permission to lead home with his mother. they had planned to have a birthday party because of that Alex felt uncomfortable because he had to cancel it all and go home with his mother. But Ruby and Drake understood. They smiled and nodded their heads and said Alex could go home with his mother.

Ruby and Drake could only stare at Alex into the car and go home with his mother. Then they sighed and then glanced at each other. They had previously booked a place at the restaurant for Alex's birthday, but now it seems they won't be able to have the party because Alex has already been picked up by his mother.

“ What now?” Ruby asked as she looked at Drake.

“We've already paid off the down payment so it's a shame if we cancel everything. How about we eat there? “ Said, Drake

Ruby, who also felt pity because she had paid off the down cash, nodded her head. Instead of having to lose the down payment they had paid off in vain, Ruby and Drake kept eating there even though Alex who was the main character of their plan was not there.

After driving for 30 minutes, Mrs. Maxwell arrived at a fancy coffee shop that she had rented for her eldest son's birthday. Gina is excited to see how luxurious the restaurant decor is, while Diana remains as cool as ever. Meanwhile, Alex feels pleased because for the first time he got a surprise like this on his birthday. Alex still felt that something was missing because his father did not come with them, but Alex yet tried to cover up the minor disappointment he felt.

They also stepped into the table in the middle, which had been prepared for them. after they sat down, several restaurant waiters came over to them while singing a happy birthday song with a 3-tier birthday cake with Alex's photo on the cake.

Alex smiled broadly, he felt delighted and did not expect that his mom indeed prepared all this. It had been a long time since Alex had a gift or a surprise like this, which was why he was so glad. For the first time, he felt that his mom considered him cared for him, and loved him. After a while, he felt very lonely, indeed when he was at home.

After they finished the happy birthday song, Alex put his hands together, closed his eyes, and made a wish. He had always thought making wishes was a stupid thing to do, but this time he wanted to make a wish. Hoping times like this will keep on coming. Hope that the cold days that have been filling his day will turn into warm days full of affection.

Everybody must have seen Alex's life was perfect. Born in a rich and respectable family, has a handsome face and intelligence since childhood. People think it makes Alex's development easier and even smoother because he has everything. But unlike other people think, the way of life that Alex is living is a life filled with emptiness.
