Chapter 40: just move aside

Jason couldn't help but turn around to look at her. She was busy laughing happily; she didn't even look in his direction.

He couldn't stand the way Liam was staring at her; he felt like walking over to their table and throwing Liam out of the window.

Alexander only shook his head in realisation he had been thinking about this possibility but he finally confirmed his doubts. They were definitely in love with each other, “ are they so blind not to see the truth or they chose not to. He thought inwardly. He knew both Isabella and Jason well; these two only care about protecting their pride; he wondered who would be the first to confess their feelings between these two.

Chantal who was sitting next to Jason was totally confused ” who is that girl? Is she his sister or his girlfriend? The thought of Jason having a girlfriend shattered her hope completely.

While at the other side, Olivia couldn't help but gossip “ hey Isabella who's that girl sitting next to jason. Am sure you must know her ” said Olivia.

Isabella raised her head and glanced at Jason's table. She gave a bitter smile before replying “ I have never seen her before ” she said as she bowed her head to eat her food.

Olivia and Liam were surprised. Olivia was a little angry “ maybe she's a new student. Am sure she doesn't know that jason have a fiancee if not she won't be sitting next to him while putting on his jacket. You should have gone over there.” Olivia said while glaring at Chantal from afar with an icy look.

“ Guys it's alright. Jason is free to do whatever he likes am not stopping him ” Isabella said.

Soon they were done eating, they stood up and walked past Jason again, Jason couldn't stand her attitude he grabbed her arm pulling her back.

Olivia and Liam walked away; they didn't want to interfere in their affairs.

Isabella turned around “ what do you want? ” she asked.

Alexander and Chantal raised their heads as they stared at Isabella and Jason.

“ Come with me, ” Jason said and pulled her away. He felt like there were too many people staring at them.

They went through the corridors where he suddenly let go of her hand “ what's wrong with you? Jason asked.

“ wrong with me? There's nothing wrong with me ” Isabella said with confusion written all over her face.

“ I mean what are you doing with Liam Isabella can't you just stay away from trouble for once am tired of worrying about you ” Jason said.

Isabella glared at him angrily “ Oh you could have just gone straight to the point that you are tired of me. I don't need you to worry about me and not a little child ”she said.

“ I'm sorry that's not what I am …….. ”

“ Just move aside ” she pushed him and hissed before walking away.

Back at the Cafeteria

Chantal gaze remained at the door Jason had gone for awhile now and who is that girl? “ she kept wondering to herself.

Alexander could see through her thoughts from her facial expressions.He smirked ” Jason will be back, sister in law is just angry with him “ said Alexander.

Chantal froze on her seat ” sister in law? “ she said with her eyes widened.

Alexander suddenly laughed ” oh he didn't tell you that he was married “ said Alexander.

Chantal felt someone was ripping her heart, she shook her head ” i didn't know “she said.

Suddenly Jason appeared behind Alexander and he gave him a slap at the back of his head ” don't listen to him she's my fiancee “ Jason said.

Chantal thought inwardly what difference does it make doesn't it still mean that he's going to get married to that girl.

Chantal smiled ” am sorry for dragging you into my mess. If I didn't get into trouble this morning your fiancee wouldn't be angry with you “ she said.

” Come on, if it was any other girl I would have still done the same. And it wasn't your fault that it happened “ jason said

FLASH BACK

Earlier in the morning, Jason was on his way to school when he suddenly came across a group of guys harassing a young lady in an alley. He couldn't just watch and ignore . He came out of his car as he approached one of the guys who was about to touch Chantal's ass. He pulled him violently from her, the guy lost his balance and landed on the ground. The rest of them were alarmed as they all charged forward trying to attack him. But they were no match for Jason; he lunged them all on the ground. He glared at them icily , sending chills down their spines. One of them recognized him " his the son of the Harrison's' ' he yelled out. immediately his voice vanished; they all scrambled away quickly.

Chantal covered her mouth with her hands she couldn't belief the fact that was almost raped in the streets. She pulled Jason into a tight hug as she burst into tears.

Jason was caught off guard. He didn't know what to do, he didn't have the heart to push her away. He let her hug him for awhile, he knew she was just scared after all if he didn't come to her rescue she would have been raped.

He pulled her away from him, he placed his hands on her shoulder ” Are you alright? “ he asked gently.

Chantal raised her face stained with tears as it kept flowing down her cheeks to look at him, She found herself lost in his looks.

” hey hope they didn't touch you “ jason shook her a little she was only staring at him without speaking.

Chantal immediately snapped back to reality; she bowed her head shyly before nodding. She didn't recognize Jason as the heir to the Harrison's because she doesn't reside in New York. She came to New York because she was awarded a scholarship to study at the top university there. She came from an average family but she had exquisite features that one wouldn't get tired of looking at.

Jason glanced at her and realised that her top was loose at the edge. He removed his jacket and gave it to her. ” Here put this on, “ he said, handing his jacket to her.

Chantal understood immediately, she took the jacket from him she didn't know anything about fashion, all the clothes she had were average looking but mere looking at Jason's jacket she knew it must cost a fortune.

” So where were you going before all this happened? “ he asked.

“I…i w..was going to school “ Chantal found herself stuttering.

” Where is your school? I will drop you off, “ Jason said. He felt like Chantal was too timid so he decided to help her.

Chantal blushed a little, ” I study at Cornell University,“ she said softly.

” oh that's great then, that's where I am heading to. Come on, let's go, "Jason said to her.

She looked in the direction where he parked his car. At that moment she was certain that he came from a wealthy family. She had only seen all these types of cars on TV and she never dared to imagine herself sitting in it.

Chantal followed behind him quietly, she gently put on his jacket. Immediately she put it on, the scent of his body engulfed her. She suddenly felt a strong sense of security that she had never felt before.

"Throughout the ride she kept stealing glances of Jason ” why is my heart beating so fast ? “ she asked herself.

” Or is he the one for me? “ she thought inwardly.

Jason noticed her gaze and he felt a little uncomfortable with it he couldn't help but ask ” do you perhaps know me“ he asked her.

Chantal bit her lip a little, she understood what Jason meant. It was quite obvious that she was stealing glances from him. She felt like smacking herself on the head. She shook her head vigorously ” no how can i know a handsome guy like you “ she blurted out her thoughts loudly.

Chantal felt like strangling herself ” I mean no. By the way am Chantal Bentley “ she quickly added.

Immediately she said she felt quite embarrassed again when facing someone like Jason she suddenly felt embarrassed of her surname. She wondered why her family had that kind of surname; her dad didn't even own a wheel of a Bentley. Her forefathers were even poor and they dared naming him Bentley.

When she was in middle school back in her town, anytime people heard her last name they always made fun of her cause she came from a poor background. But to her surprise Jason didn't laugh at her. He only nodded.

She glanced at him again with a sweet smile. Chantal felt her heart racing. ” oh my gosh what's wrong with me today? “ she said inwardly.
