Chapter 38: I will be right back

The day dawned crisp and clear. It was a bright and sunny day. The sun shone brilliantly in the clear, blue sky. It was 10am but Isabella was still sleeping. Her phone started ringing. She could clearly hear it ringing but she realised she couldn't lift herself up. The phone stopped after some seconds before it started ringing again. Isabella fumbled her way to the bedside table and grabbed her phone. Immediately she tried to open her eyes she felt a sharp pang in her head making her groan in pain as her tears slipped out of the corners of her eyes looking pitiful.

She used all her strength to sit up as she held her head and she felt really dizzy. She opened her eyes midway and realised that it was her mom who was calling.

She couldn't help but grumble “ oh mom why do you always call at the wrong time “ she remembered that yesterday evening before going to the club her mom called but she didn't pick because she was feeling sad.

She picked up the call ” Hey mom, am sorry i didn't pick up your call last night. Right now I am late for school. I will call you back later. Love you. bye mom “ she said and hung up giving her mom no chance to speak.

She heaved a sigh of relief. She didn't want her mom to know that she got drunk last night.

” ouch! why does my head hurt so badly “ Isabella held her head as she wrinkled her face from the pain. She tried to recall everything that happened last night but she couldn't, it only made her head ache even more.

She tried to get up from the bed, at that time Jason walked over to the bed with a glass in his hand.

” Oh, you are finally awake, “ he said.

” Why didn't you knock before coming in and what is this? “ she said as she held her head while staring at the glass in his hand.

Jason snorted ” i knew you were still sleeping so what's the use, it's probably someone who wakes you up. Anyways stop asking questions. Drink this “ he said as he handed her the glass.

” ew! It smells really bad. How do you expect me to take something like this? “ she said with a disgusted look.

Jason sneered ” when you were drinking last night you didn't know that you would have a hangover. “ He said as he forced the glass to her mouth.

” Jason don't! don't! ahhh! “ Isabella wrinkled her face when she had a taste of it.

She covered her mouth like she was about to throw up.

” don't even dare, you better swallow it now, “ he said with a bossy tone.

Isabella swallowed with great difficulty before shooting him a look.” it tastes so terrible, “ she said.

” Do you expect it to be sweet? Come on, drink up quickly “ he said.

” I don't want it, “ she said while crossing her arm over her chest.

” Okay then fine, don't tell me that your head is hurting again “ he said about leaving the room.

She didn't know why he got angry so quickly she held his hand ” i will drink it “ she said as she shut her eyes tightly gulping down the entire glass at once she swallowed with great difficulty again.

” Good girl, “ Jason said and brought out a lollipop.

Isabella quickly took it from him before he changed his mind. She smiled as she couldn't help but hug him.

” It's alright. You stink so much. Please go take a shower “ he said as he acted like he was feeling disgusted by her.

Isabella pouted her lip as she sniffed herself ” i reek of alcohol “ she couldn't help but say.

Jason sneered ” i will never let you have any more alcohol in the future before you try to rape me again “ he said crossing his arm on his chest.

Isabella froze in her steps and she turned around giving him a surprised look ” hey when did i do that? “ she said. To be honest she just realised that something like that did happen. But she was feeling embarrassed to admit it and she felt like Jason wouldn't spare her at all so she decided to play dumb.

” how will you remember when you were forcing yourself on…… “ Jason didn't finish his words before Isabella shut his mouth with her palm.

” Shut up! “ Isabella cheeks flushed red he couldn't even leave a shred of dignity for her as a woman. Didn't he know that she was feeling embarrassed. She also found herself quite outrageous last night. She couldn't help but remember what her mom said to her the day she moved in with him. She couldn't look at him anymore as she ran into the bathroom.

Jason shook his head as he left her room. Isabella freshened up and came downstairs. She could smell a nice aroma of food.

” Hum it smells so nice. Did you cook for me today? “ Isabella asked with a smile.

Jason scoffed loudly ” you really think highly of yourself “ he said.

Isabella walked over to the table and realised that he ordered some takeout. He really didn't cook for her; she missed the taste of his food.

She wanted to grab the plate of chicken wings when Jason suddenly slapped her hands away. He pushed a bowl of green leafy vegetables to her. ” You are not allowed to eat greasy food for now. Here! i ordered some vegetables for you “ he said as he glanced at her with a serious look.

She could only look at him with a pitiful look which he didn't even take notice of.

She sat down opposite him, placing her palm on her cheeks looking a little sad. She had quite a poor appetite. But it looked like Jason enjoyed his sumptuous breakfast even more.

” You aren't having classes till noon right? Jason asked her.

” yeah “ she nodded her head while chatting on her cellphone.

” Okay then,I gotta go now, see you soon, “ he said as he headed out without waiting for her reply.

” What's up with him? Wasn't I the one angry with him last night? “she said to herself.

” Well his concoction did work. I feel alright now “ she said as she couldn't help but smile happily.

Soon enough it was noon , she decided to stop at Emily to see if she was at home. She rang the bell and Emily opened the door and she smiled at Isabella. ” Come in baby B “ she said.

Isabella came in and threw herself on the couch ” don't you have classes today? “ She asked.

” till 1pm “ Emily said to her while packing her books from the coffee table.

” whoa same here, i guys we are going together “ Isabella said.

” What do you mean that we are going together? What about jason? she asked, staring at Isabella.

” Oh he had classes this morning so he left without me, “ she explained calmly, not sensing that Emily was suddenly interested in the topic.

” Great then. I will be right back “ Emily excused herself as she went into the kitchen.

She suddenly looked around vigilantly. She brought out her phone and quickly sent a message to her brother. Before returning with a glass of juice. She was about to hand the juice to Isabella when she suddenly spotted a hickey on Isabella's neck.

Emily felt like a thousand needles were piercing through her heart at that moment she couldn't maintain the smile on her face. She clenched her fist tightly, shattering the glass of juice completely. It cut her flesh open immediately and her palm started bleeding profusely.

” Oh my! Emily. What were you thinking about ? “ Isabella said as she held Emily's hand. ” Come let's clean it up “ Isabella pulled her to the room.

Emily didn't say a word her gaze remained on Isabella's neck all through. she abruptly pulled her hand from Isabella. ” Excuse me, “ she said and ran into the bathroom.

Isabella knitted her brows into a frown ” what's happening to everyone today “ she asked herself.

Back in the bathroom Emily bit her lip hard she almost burst into tears, she glanced at herself in the mirror. she took in a deep breath ” Emily calm down maybe it's not what you think. Jason and Isabella didn't do anything, “ she said, trying to calm herself down. She wasn't even bothered about her injured hand; she just wanted Jason all to herself.

After taking a while to comfort herself she came out with a smile and finally let Isabella clean her wounds. ” it's done, “ Isabella said as she wrapped the last part of the bandage on Emily's hand.

Suddenly the doorbell rang, Isabella glanced at Emily `` are you expecting something or someone? “

” er no no “ Emily shook her head.

” I will go get the door then, your hand is injured, you should stay here “ Isabella placed the first aid kit on the coffee table before leaving the room.

She opened the door and she met Caleb standing at the doorway. ” Oh you! “ she said.

Caleb smiled at her ” oh Bella what a surprise didn't plan to see you here “ he said as he stepped forward.

Isabella stepped aside to let him in ” yeah i live in this building. Just came to check up on Millie “ she said.

Emily came out from the room ” oh Brother what are you doing here? “ she acted looking confused.

” Yeah, I just stopped by to see how my little sister was doing, “ Caleb smiled.

” It's good that you are here brother, why don't you drop Baby B and I at school, “ Emily suggested with a smile.
