Chapter 24: Chapter 24
PEARL'S POV
“I won’t be surprised if you got served a sack letter as soon as you Voldemort set his eyes on you,” Rose stated immediately after I walked into the office building. It was obvious that she had been waiting for me to arrive.
“Honestly, he said the same thing,” She raised an eyebrow. I know she was ether contemplating what she could advise me to do to escape this but I think there’s nothing else that can be done.
“You should’ve called earlier on,” She said painfully.
“I tried calling Charlotte several times but she didn’t pick up my calls and I also sent her a text, when I didn’t get a response from her, I had to send a text to Voldemort,” I explained.
She clicked her tongue. “Charlotte is the real devil’s little sister, probably their father’s last born. Spoilt, evil, and selfish. She probably saw your calls but decided to ignore them,”
“I don’t blame her. Is he around?” I asked.
“Who? Voldemort?” I nodded.
“He hadn’t come down from the office all day and everyone has been walking on shells around the office, everywhere is on fire,”
“What happened?”
“Nobody knows, he’s just angry” She pulled me into the locker room as another person took over her seat at the reception. She was already unbuttoning her uniform
“You’re leaving work so early, why?”
“I just have an assignment to deliver for the office, I’ll be back before closing hour. I know I didn’t tell you this before but would you like to go out with me tonight? I’m celebrating my birthday,”
I shrieked happily.
“You should’ve told me earlier. I would have gotten you a gift,”
“That’s okay, you can bring it later tonight,” I nodded.
“Happy birthday, Rosebud,” I hugged her.
“Don’t call me that, I hate it,” She scrunched her face in disgust.
“That’s exactly why I’m calling you that, Rosebud. Text me the address later, okay?” She nodded.
I waved at her before walking out of the locker room. I took the elevator upstairs. I was nervous and scared because I didn’t exactly know what I would meet there at Luke’s office. I know I sounded so courageous earlier but God know that I was dying inside.
As soon as I stepped out of the elevator, Charlotte welcomed me with an embarrassing and sarcastic clap.
“Welcome, Miss Augustus,” She laughed. “Why have you decided to grace us with your great presence, Milady?”
Instead of bickering or giving her a damn answer, I gave her the middle finger. “Suck my d*ck, bitch,” as I walked away from her.
“Mr. Anderson wants to see you in his office. Immediately” Her message stopped me from unlocking my office room’s door. I turned and walked towards Luke’s office.
“Good morning, Mr. Anderson,” I greeted as soon as I walked into his office. He had told me to come in after I knocked and I dare not do otherwise. He lifted his head from the document with him. He sighed loudly.
“Where are you coming from?” He asked.
“I told you on the phone that it was a private matter,” He hit a file on the table in a dramatic manner. Lucas stood up from his chair and walked towards me, hands folded.
“I want to know about this private matter, I’m suddenly interested,” He demanded.
“There’s a thing called boundary, Lucas,” he unfolded his hand from his chest.
“Fine, you’ll have your office desk and chair placed right there,” he pointed to a spot beside his own table and office seat. “Till you’re ready to speak,”
“Why are you so hell-bent on knowing about this?” I asked him, my voice louder than usual.
“Because you belong to me,” he pointed at me. “Everything that concerns you concerns me and you need to always remember that,”
“I’m not a toy, Lucas,” I protested.
“Wait till I hold you, Pearl. You’ll know you’re more important than that to me,” I wanted to curse at the psycho but I couldn’t say a thing. I was dumbfounded.
The both of us were silent after that. We both weren’t saying anything, I couldn’t afford to be in the same space as this mentally derailed man for hours when I know he is right there, observing my every move, breathing the same air I was breathing. I don’t think I can survive that.
“Lucas,” I called, trying to get him to reason but I stopped when I realized I shouldn’t have called him that. “Mr. Anderson,” I called out.
“Say it again,” He had moved closer to me. “Mr. Anderson,” I asked, feigning ignorance.
“Say my name, Pearl,” He demanded. “Say my name,” He repeated, his mouth placed on the spot beside my lips, he was taunting me.
“Lucas,” I whispered.
“Fuck, you make me imagine things, Pearl. Things that I’ve always wanted to do to you,” His hand slid up my arm and my breath hitched instantly.
A knock resounded on the door, making me back away from him. He stopped me by holding my arm before I could hit my leg against a wooden stool. When I looked at his eyes, for a moment, I thought he cared.
“Come in,”
The man came in with some documents in his hands. “Bring them in,” Lucas commanded before the man could say a word. The door leading to his office was opened wide ad I watched as an office table was brought in and rearranged with a chair, my boxes, and files.
I turned to look at Lucas in disbelief. Why did I even think he was giving me an option earlier? He already asked for my things to be brought into his office before he gave me the condition. After the men were done arranging everything, they left.
“What the heck?” I moved away from him in anger. He shrugged then smirked at me.
“I know you far too well to agree to such a thing so I made the request even before I gave the condition,” I almost teared up at the fact that I was stuck with this hell of a man.
“I took Aurora to the hospital for a checkup,” If that was the only thing that would save me from him, I would gladly do that. He moved closer to me, his face a few inches away from mine again.
“Play with me next time, Sil and I’ll make sure I place you on that desk of yours and play you like a piano. I mean my words and no, you’re not getting sacked any moment from now. You’re mine, anyone who tried to take you from me, even your family, even you will face my wrath,” He threatened.
It became clear that I’d always underestimated Lucas. He was a monster who would always have what he wanted and the best option for me is to run.
