Whatever he was up to suddenly creeps Kate out as his lips broke into a grin thus she pushed him back.

" What's wrong with you Alvin? Do losing one's property drive people nuts? Get out of my office"

" Well, I think not. Let's have a drink Kate. Just for the things, I do for you"

" And what would that be?

" For instance, riding him up since you've chosen to turn against him. You have a family remember? Your mother and brother. You don't know what you're getting into. Well, that's why I'm going to make it easier for you. I've been playing this game for ages. Don't worry, you don't have to repay me. I owe you one" she removed her hands from his chest and frowned in the realization that Colton must have told him.

" How did you know? Who told you?

" No one. I assume I'm right. I'm ready to do anything to make it up to you. Hmm," he muttered lifting her chin.

" Don't worry about how I knew. Just don't try anything stupid before I return. We'll get him. I assure you after this, you'll see the real David. Please do as I say"

" I don't trust you, Alvin. That's impossible as far as I'm concerned. I can take care of myself. Do your thing and let me do mine. May the best person win" she mimicked his baritone voice grinning.

" Now if you'll excuse me, lover boy. I'm busy"

" We haven't finished the whole bottle. It's ours remember? He stated shaking the bottle then led her to a table to refill her glass

' drink up. I know you can hold your liquor" she giggled gulping the whole thing then stretched it for him to refill.

If drinking was the motivation he wanted, well she will gladly give in to it.

There was no harm in trying.

" While you're terrible with wine. So why this particular wine? She asked sipping on it taking her time to savor the taste by letting it warm her mouth and taste bud.

" It's golden and expensive. Your favorite' she scoffed twirling the glass cup in her hands.

' You don't look fine Alvin. What's the matter? He sighed leaning on the wall then met her scrutinizing eyes.

" I made a terrible mistake four years ago. Something I thought was right at the moment but it turned out it is going to ruin everything. I'm scared, Kate. I really want to us to reconcile please" she hummed refilling her glass.

" What about those women you have been sleeping with all this time in our matrimonial bed? I can't forget their moans and curses. Nope, it's not a good idea to get back together. Divorce is the only way to fix things. It'll give us a chance to meet new people perhaps fall in love again. Our past is something we had learned from. I don't want anything to do with you, Alvin. I don't" he moved away from the wall to her stand and knelt down.

" I never slept with them. I'm sorry for hurting you, Kate. You've every right to hate me but give me time to come clean. I might have the solution to everything. I've always wanted a family with you, Kate. Always" astounded by his advances she crouched beside him helping him up.

" I'm sorry Alvin. I Can't. I plan to return to my Mom. There's no second chance for us. Not for me anyway" he grabbed her hands entwining it with his pleading eyes that exude pity, grief, regret, loneliness, and affection yet she ignored it.

" I won't be able to live with myself Alvin not after what I did. I ...." He cut in.

" Then we're even. I don't mind. I'll give you the respect and love that you deserve. I swear it" he declared as she stood up shaking her head in denial.

"I can't. I can't live like that. What does that make me? That's not me. It's better this way Alvin. Grant the divorce. We both need to let go. I'm tired of being married to no one. I want to live a carefree life. This wasn't how I imagined my life would turn out. It's obvious we're not meant for each other"

" But Kate, this wasn't what I wanted either. Nothing good comes easy. I think this is our last test. We have to overcome it. I need you. Don't do this to me. Everything is going to be fine" he sniffled on his feet while cupping her cheeks.

" I love you wholeheartedly. I love you, Kate. I really do' she bit her lips staring at his quivering lips having turmoil within herself.

She was so close to having her revenge on David. Letting Alvin in means he gets to express his opinion as well.

" Alvin, I......" She stuttered surprised to see his lips so close to hers and froze.

" I don't think I can do this. Please leave" she stated hanging on her decision to get back at David.

' fine. Let's finish the wine. Tomorrow is a new day" she stepped away from him refilling their glasses she didn't miss the look of disappointment in his eyes.

" so what are you up to? What are you planning? She asked successfully changing the topic.

" You'll see. The whole world will"

' why tell me? For what's worth I might tell on you after all I'm your enemy " he chuckled clinking glasses.

"You have that to thank unless it'd be another story. I don't joke with a challenge Kate believe me when I say I let you have your way because I deserved it. And it did make you feel better. I'm not innocent but I'm honest to a point that I know you haven't slept with David. I might shock you someday. Rome wasn't built in a day remember? She frowned unaffected by his confession.

" If that's what you choose to believe then so be it. Cheers"

" Let's stroll around your resort. A place you named after our son. Something we have in common" she blinked pointing out his mistake.

' you mean had in common right? He nods caressing her hair.

" You'll make a wonderful mother Kate' she chuckled then shrugged.

' yep. You're drunk. The least I can do is show you around for your company. I mean you got balls. I give you that but I'm not that naive girl anymore. So let's talk about Naomi" he veered around to look at her.

" What about her?

" You employed her? She had always had a crush on you" she tells him recalling when she used to quip about her infatuation which she thought was a joke.

" She's good at marketing and I keep her around for some other reason I can't say"

' sex? He furrowed his brows in disgust halting.

" Believe me when I say I haven't slept with anyone else since our honeymoon. Just you Kate" she looked away trying to ignore the heat threatening to creep her face.

" She's struggling. You know how she is" she hums leading him to the auditorium.

" Welcome to first class. I know it's nothing new" he scoffed enjoying the view.

" Still the same like I said. You're amazing' she giggled shifting her weight on her legs not sure how to react to his compliment.

" You don't say" he hummed taking a step forward enveloping her in a warm hug then pecking her.

' I'll see you later then" he was gone before she could say a word while she shrugged trailing to her office.
