Whatever Alvin said had her tearing up at the entrance. Something she hasn't done since she was diagnosed with depression.

Trying her possible best to calm her down but it was painful to know Alvin punished her for something she didn't do.

A common video.

She tried breathing in and out but that didn't work as well as she held her chest with one hand while digging the other into her bag to fetch the inhaler then heard the door clink.

The look on Alvin's face when he saw her wheezing was the same look he had the day he found out she was asthmatic but he recovered quicker than he did years ago as he sauntered her way to snatch the bag away detriment to her disapproval: rummaging through it to find the inhaler as the inhaler became suddenly unreachable to Kate.

" Why do you think you're doing? He coerced helping her to get the inhaler then pumped it into her mouth on impulse while she tried wiggling away from his hold but he held her.

" Do you hate me that much? I'm trying to save your life for Christ's sake" he urged yet she didn't stop wriggling when he swept her off her feet carrying her to his office.

Though Kate was against it, she had no choice but to comply as she was busy trying to breathe and he exceeded her expectations.

" I've some medications in my bag" she whispered as he lay her on the comfy bed then grabbed her bag to search for it and saw some injectables.

" What's this? What about the medications I recommended for you? Don't tell me you stopped taking them? He sneered abandoning the bag to lay beside her which had her scooting away from him.

" I lost them. A doctor recommended this. It's effective as well. You're just mad I'm doing well without you" he twitched his mouth wondering if she was right.

Perhaps he was used to taking care of her.

" You need to rest. I'm glad I decided to step out of the office" she hummed softly with heavy eyelids then closed and opened them which amused him.

" Sleep Kate, I'm not going to strangle you in your sleep" only then did she closed her eyes allowing him the opportunity to hold her to sleep.

He stroked her hair slowly while staring at her beautiful face which was creased even in her sleep.

He was determined to make things right between them but she wasn't cooperating.

A rapid but steady heartbeat woke Kate up as she scoot from the person to lie on her side and felt his breath on her face hence opened her eyes to meet a pair of dark eyes staring at her with heated gaze with his hands wrapped around her.

She blinked in astonishment while Alvin scoffed cupping her cheeks.

" How are you feeling at the moment? She zoned out on him wondering how she got there in the first place.

" I'm glad you're okay," he tells her with his thumb on her lips. he swallowed the lump in his throat then scoot closer to her and closer giving her time to push him away which she didn't then press his lips on hers taking his time to taste her lips then nibble on her bottom Lip to be granted entrance which she granted nevertheless as he held her head in place taking his time to kiss her nice and slow.

The slow kiss turned out to be a heated make-out session as Alvin hovered over her running his hands on her body.

Their tongue roamed Each other's mouth then she furrowed her brows breaking the kiss with widened eyes slipping out of his hold.

" What do think you're doing Alvin? What the hell? She sassed wiping her lips while he shrugged leaning against the bed rest.

" I didn't force myself on you. How are you feeling? She glared at him trying to control herself from going berserk on him while wiping her lips still tasting his mint in her mouth.

" You took advantage of me asshole' he chuckled tilting his head to access her.

" I don't think so. You kissed me back"

" Asshole" she stated grabbing her bag then went for the door then stopped.

" You've no right to touch me, Alvin. What happened to me being a whore? Have you forgotten about my adultery? Don't tell me you're going to forgive all that because you suddenly had proof against David? She asked as he nods.

" Let's assume I did all that. I instigated everything. Had I been a good husband, you wouldn't have gone to Dante. For one who hates me. I know you never loved him perhaps... Let bygones be bygones. Our past will guide us and direct us on the right path. I can promise you a thing like this will never happen again. I'm the same man who chased you for months till you agreed to marry me. I haven't changed neither has my love for you. I have forgiven you. I hold no grudges against you. We can't forget about our mistakes but I promise you a lifetime of blissful marriage. We'll grow old together. Kate, it's a promise" she stared at him for what seems like years then looked away.

" It's too late Alvin. Simon is dead. So is Dante. There's no third chance. I've exhausted my patience. We're having that divorce. Good day, Alvin' she finished then left after waiting for his response that didn't come.

Alvin looked at the empty space beside him and the bulge in his pants and huffed in frustration opting for a cold bath.
