Whether Naomi was lying or not didn't bother David until his spy has confirmed the situation which was responsible for his worries.
His mind wandered off imagining Kate learning about Quinn and reconciling with Alvin.
He might have coveted his money but not his happiness. He needed his possession including his wife and son if possible.
Now, what does he needs to do to make her turn to him again?
With a hand on his jaw, he paced around searching for the right idea.
If only he found Quinn.
As if on cue Kate stepped into his office with a frown on her face.
He smiled to welcome her leading her to sit properly.
" This is a surprise"
" I suppose it is. Do you have news for me? She asked plainly
" Regarding your late son, I presume. Well, nothing yet but let's assume I find him, will you really leave? She looked taken aback by his questions thus hummed.
" What's the meaning of that? I'm not obligated to you. Don't overstep your boundaries, Dave. Do you remember why I helped you with the mafias?
' to bring Alvin to his knees and he's at it begging you to love him back" she gritted her teeth glaring at him.
" Is this what I think it is? Fear? Are you scared I might yield to him again? She asked disappointed in him if there's one thing she knew it'd the fact that she wasn't going back to Alvin Reagan.
" I'm not scared of anything" she cackled mockingly.
Liar! He was lying and she knew it.
" You are scared David and I assume it's for another reason but trust me, I helped you with the mafias because of it. So, Mr. Wilson, keep your end of the bargain or I might take it back, and trust me I'm not bluffing" his face darkened from her threat as the vein in his forehead popped out like it was about to explode.
" Are you threatening me? He stood up furiously.
" You know what's to come if you don't find him. I've nothing to lose at the moment. Nothing"
" I thought we're in this together?
" I thought so too until you tried to rape me" she retorted deadpanned.
" I said I'm sorry"
" It's not good enough Mr. Wilson," she tells him on her feet too. Thanks to her heels he was just a head taller than her.
" What happened to taking revenge against Alvin Reagan?
" We're on it. His ports are on auction and I don't suppose he's much of a threat to you. If I have a score to settle with him it's personal"
" Are you bailing on me?
" Nope. It's just quick notice. One I wouldn't want you to forget" after staring at her for more than five minutes. He could tell she was serious.
" fine. I'll deliver. What do I do to make it up to you beautiful Kate? He asked softly closing the space between them.
" Just find him and do you know something about my brother that I don't?
' I see Alvin didn't tell you? He smirked pulling a stool closer then sat on it staring at his worried face.
This will be interesting! He thought reminiscing about it.
" Tell me what? Out with it David', she urged impatiently.
" That's no way to ask a favor' he sassed smirking.
" Of course it is. He's my only brother. Talk to me" he shrugged.
" Well, like I said he's sick again and Alvin has been helping him with it even before you left. What a man he is right? Her knees wobbled as she managed to steady herself, David did offer to help but she stopped him nevertheless.
" Why are you just telling me? She yelled which had David furrowing his brows.
He has never seen her so upset
" I just found out Kate. Calm down" she was nowhere calm as her breathing increased.
It wasn't her first asthma attack in front of him but he was scared as hell as he hurriedly held her urging her to sit while she tugged on his clothes for support wheezing.
Instinctively, he pumped her inhaler into her mouth repeatedly. He literally emptied the whole thing and searched for another.
" Can you hear me? Kate? She hummed leaning her head on the chair rest while he heaved a sigh of relief
" I want to sleep. Can I do that? He picked her up on bridal style carrying her to his suite. She didn't have the strength to bicker words with him thus allowed him to do his thing.
Carefully, he placed her on the bed covering her with a quilt then sat across her watching her slumber.
He ran a hand through his hair to indicate his frustration as she hasn't had an attack for years which had him thinking it was gone.
His eyes darted to her closed eyelids and smiled.
Within the next minutes, she was up and ready to go even though her breathing wasn't stable. She was eager to see Alvin regarding her brother.
Louis had been through a lot since he was a child and she was ready to rid him of it by doing anything to save him.
" Are you okay now?
" I'm good thanks. I'll call you when I get home" but he wasn't satisfied with her response but he couldn't persuade her either.
' just be careful. There is one more inhaler in your bag' he informed helplessly.
" I know. Sorry for troubling you. See you later David" once said she was gone to her next destination which was Alvin's office: A place she was more than familiar with that is if he's around.
The building was the same, just a little different and the workers were lesser in number. She saw some new faces too and wondered if she left that long.
Those who recognized her exchanged glances. She ignored their prying eyes and entered the elevator to his office then she caught a glimpse of Naomi speaking with some officials but shook it off.
She wouldn't right? Perhaps, he employed her because of her. Stupid right? well, it wasn't her problem at the moment.
The ding sound of the elevator indicated she has arrived thus brought her out of her trance as she pumped an inhaler in her mouth to prevent having an attack in his presence.
That will be awful now, wouldn't it?
He might just leave her to her death without lifting a finger.
The slow wheezing sound dissipated as she stepped out of the elevator to his cozy floor and took a long walk then came to a huge door with his name boldly written on it and pushed it open.
