Chapter 68: Chapter 68

"Instead of Lying, Prefer honesty over everything." [Riley]

.......

Christian was not in the mood to argue with her, His patience had already reached its limit for the day. Even though he knew Cynthia will never curse him, not at least when he was responsible for her pitiful family but listening to her words did press his deteriorating mood further. He blankly gazed at the mirror, even in the small white bulb his eyes seemed bloodshot while his already thin lips were pressed together.

The voice of his secretary irritated him, so he enunciated each other with lethality in his tone.

"I don't care Cynthia about your explanations. You are going to be punished for your mistake, your 1000$ from salary will be cut down."

"Sir. I am sorry sir. Please don't cut money out of my salary. You know how much my mother and I need it. She is still in ICU sir. Please." Cynthia pinched her hand cursing him inwardly, How can he be so cruel to cut her salary. The job for which she sacrifices her blood and every day.

"Fine. I can minimize the punishment amount. Your 250$ will be cut. And if you tried to argue over this issue, it would be 1000$ again." His tone seemed to soften as he understood her life's difficulties. Her mother had been sick for one year and all amount of money she earned whether it was the salary or the rewards he had given her for approaching Riley we're spent in her mother's treatment. He sighed bitter in his heart, at least she still has a mother that she could do something for. He never got the opportunity to do anything for his parents.

Another sigh escaped his lips and he rubbed his temples to ease the headache that was forming inside his head.

Though she wanted to smash his face from a vase, she still chose the silence to accept it. After all, he was the boss and she did have cursed him.

"Accept Stuart's Company Proposal and also make some efforts to know the secrets of Stephen Brown's business ventures." He demanded his voice cold and arrogant. Cynthia could picture him trying to smother his cufflinks. He always did that when he was in his beast mode. But as the words, inked in her mind she found herself unable to react.

Perhaps she had seen Stuart's proposal accepting a decision coming from her tricking boss because of love rivalry but How did Stephen Brown come into the picture.

'Mistress Father! What is wrong with my boss! Is he tricking me too?' She found herself questioning her hearing ability.

"Do you understand Cynthia?" Impatiently he tapped his foot against the neat but old tiles.

"Sir...Mr. Brown is your Father-in-law!"

"I know. You don't have to remind me who he is! Just do as I say." His voice turned an octave higher as if he wanted to make her understand by his tone. That he was making her aware that this matter couldn't be talked over by her.

"Okay, Sir. I will make sure to execute both things you have instructed for."

"Hmm. Okay, Good Night."

After ending the call He came out of the bathroom and found his little liar at the door. Though at that moment he was captivated by her innocent face he didn't show it not in a bit.

He didn't bother to talk to her anymore, turned to the bedroom, and left. Riley gradually returned to her senses and followed him to the bedroom. But he seemed to be purposely ignoring her as when she entered the room she found him sleeping on a bed engulfed in a black blanket.

After making a choice she walked towards him and sat down on the bed hugging his arm carefully. She knew it was her fault to lie so she should make things clear with him. In any way, she had confessed her feelings to Stuart but he didn't seem too fazed about it. It only meant he never saw her that way. It was just her stupid selfish one-sided love for him.

She knew she needed to tell him what she had started feeling for him too. She knew she had to assure him of something. Something that would make him believe in her.

Clearing her throat, she adjusts her creamy silk pajamas and then speaks.

"We Need to Talk Mindy."

Christian ignores her trying to make her believe that he had slept. In any way, he knew nothing comes well after the famous sentence we need to talk, was said so he will avoid it as much as he can. Her gaze turned to him in confusion, there was no way in hell that he would be able to sleep in five minutes.

Removing the blanket away from him, she smiled. His larger-than-life body was wrapped in a blue night suit and was pretending to sleep in a fetal position. Her heart was heavy, as she noticed his posture. He looked like he was lonely, and hurt.

"Don't pretend Mindy. I know you are awake."

Already busted he stopped pretending and sat down with an anxious look in his brown orbs. They seemed to look like a secret garden of mud.

Looking at her beautiful figure he zoned out. She looked like she wanted to lure him to do something naughty to her. The silk cloth accentuated her curves while the cream color seemed like a replica of her skin. If not for the buttons on the shirt he would have thought she was wearing nothing.

"I am Sorry For Lying to you Mindy. I was wrong." He wasn't expecting her to say sorry. His eyes immediately locked on hers in confusion. While she stood rooted to her spot matching his stare. Slowly very slowly she lifted her hand to the bangs pinned behind her ear revealing her shiny black eyes but with a little wind from the window, the bangs returned to their designated place. The messy bun on her head and bare feet made her look cute. Looking at the woman of his dreams in such cute attire He held his urge to go and take her in his arms and sleep or do some exercise. But he had to endure. Endure the fatal temptation. So he pinched himself on the wrist to make himself aware of the circumstances they were in. Taking the pillow he kept it on his legs while keeping his elbows above it. His posture turning attentive as he gave her a signal to continue with his eyes.
