Chapter 48: Chapter 48

-46-Home.

"A reality that is better than an illusion." [Christian]

....

"Mindy. I am home." Riley announced upon her arrival. Of course, it was the first time she was doing this, just to ease off her guilt.

She remembered how The whole ride Tina was inquiring about what had happened in real. While she was in her thoughts.

'Technically he kissed me. I didn't. '

'So what? It does not matter. What matters is You both kissed.'

'What will you assume if Mindy is kissed by someone else. And he did not initiate it.' Her fickle reason's voice was irritating her.

'He is cheating on me.'

'This was what I was saying.'

'But then what should I do now? Should I just tell him about it?'

'It would be better without him knowing. It might make him feel bad.'

'But if he gets to know about it from someone else, it can make him feel worse.'

"What's wrong?" Tina shook her hard asking.

"I. Tina, one of my friends had kissed a man other than her husband. Though she did not intend to, nor she initiated it. Now she is torn between what should she do? Should she I. Just confess to him about it?"

Tina contemplated her words and spoke after taking a few minutes.

"Oh. See Riley I think it would be better if she doesn't. Because technically confessing to her husband will impact their relationship and not confessing will make her a cheat."

"What about the guilt, I mean she said she is super guilty about it."

"See, My advice is that she should keep it from him. Because Men are possessive creatures and cheating always stings. And if their woman or sisters are involved, they might even flip the world. It will distort her situation more. Just Let it be."

Riley pondered on her words, what she said might have been true. But she knew Mindy wasn't like that. Yet she wasn't sure if he will forgive her for that matter?

"Yeah. I guess you are right. It would be better that way."

"Hmm." Tina hmmed as she gazed out the window watching as people flew past them.

Shooking her head, she saw him coming from the bathroom. 'Ah, that's why he took so much time to come out.'

Seeing her, Christian put on his face a sweet smile. A smile that was filled with affection. A smile that made her feel more guilty.

"Oh Honey. Welcome back. How was the party?"

"Thank you, Mindy. Party was nice and I had a great time. But the most important thing is that I have very good news."

Taking the clutch from her hands, he forwarded her towards the bedroom.

"Oh, I am excited to hear, what this good news is? But first, you should change out of this dress?"

Christian frowned noticing her puffy eyes "Hey honey, wait for a second why do I feel like you cried? What's wrong? What happened?"

Riley grinned

"Those were happy tears, Mindy. I will tell you about it after changing this dress."

His shoulders relaxed hearing her words, as he thought inwardly 'NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU CRY, HONEY. BUT IF IT'S BECAUSE OF A GOOD NEWS. IT'S FINE.'

[Twenty minutes later]

Christian placed the last dish that he had prepared as he saw Riley coming out of the room in pajamas. His heart melted at the scene.

She was sporting a pink Mickey nightsuit that looked too cute on her. While her hair was set up in a messy bun. her beautiful pink lips were brimming with a smile.

Upon seeing him she sat down on the chair nearest to his own.

"Honey. You look so cute today."

A beautiful shade of pink colored her cheeks as she replied with a warm yet shy smile.

"Thank you, Mindy."

"Glad Honey. Oh, and yeah I was thinking about your good news. Although I was thinking to ask you after dinner, now I am too excited to know about it. So how about we start dinner after your big announcement."

A feeling of Uncertainty crossed her eyes as Christian peeked at her. She seemed genuinely happy yet there was something that was holding her back. 'Is she nervous? But why would she? We have spent so many days together, it feels impossible that she will get nervous to tell him the good news. How about if it's a confession? Or worse what if she is going to propose a divorce again. Since her enemy has not met her after the accident. Ah, no-no! It's something else. Otherwise, she wouldn't have said it was good news.'

'How about if she considers it good news. Did you forget what she had told you last time? She considers it a contract marriage.'

He scoffed at his assumptions. He was turning into an insecure man.

Riley snapped as she knocked on the table to get his attention. "Mindy! What's wrong with you? I have been calling you for the last five minutes. Where are you lost?"

"Oh, I am sorry. I was thinking about my job."

Feeling extremely guilty, her mood changed in nanoseconds as she asked him.

"Ah! I forgot to ask you what kind of job it is that you are appointed to?"

Surprised Christian cleared his throat first. He thought probably she will never ask him about it. Or she wasn't interested to know about it.

"Oh. It's the job of the lead singer in a club."

Hearing his answer, Riley stood up and gave him a warm hug. Surprising him.

While he Hesitatingly looked up at her trying to see if she was genuinely happy or was doing this just to keep his heart.

"That's so awesome Mindy. I am so happy for you. How about we celebrate your first job tomorrow?"

Looking at her reaction, Christian realized how much happiness comes from small things.

Although he had a very important to attend tomorrow. To crack a deal tomorrow of millions, yet it was not important than her. For she was always his priority.

Giving her a genuine smile, he nodded at her and spoke with excitement. 'It will be the first time that we will probably celebrate something.'

"Yeah, that's a great idea. Let's do that tomorrow."
