~Third person's POV ~

“Meet Erica tomorrow. I arranged a package for you..." He smiles. “Trust me, you'll love it."'

Jayson clearly knows what Lexis means whenever he says the word 'package'. He nods his head before standing up to his feet. “Can I go now underboss?”

Lexis nods, "Of course, see you next time."

Jayson sighs and walks out of the room. Lexis finishes smoking his cigarette and he stands up to his feet before he slowly walks over to the transparent glass and stares through it. He looks at the swimming pool and the beautiful surroundings with a bored expression.

“Boring." He mutters before turning away and walking out of the room.

THE NEXT DAY...

8:00 AM

Kemi has been standing in the foyer waiting for Lexis to come downstairs but she hasn't seen him yet. She wonders what's going on?

Just then, she sees Robert climbing downstairs and she wait for him to reach where she is. He smiles at her dipping his hands into his pocket.

"You're ready in time today, how sweet." He says with a smile on his face.

"Is he not going?" She asks him.

“Who is not going?” Robert asks with a confused look.

"The boss. It's pass 8 already." She says.

“Oh, he should be in his room. Why don't you go over?"

Kemi's eyes widen at his words, "I should go up to his room?"

Robert nods, “Ron would usually goes over if he doesn't come down. Since you're the new PA,your should do same.”

Kemi swallows and nods her head. She slowly climbs up the stairs and goes over to Lexis's room.She knocks on the door and when he doesn't answer for the 4th time, she opens the door and enters into the room. She sees him lying on the bed and she walks closer but then, she sees he's sweating all over with his eyes closed as he moves his head from side to side. His body is quavering and he seems to be struggling hard.

She moves her hands close to him and before she knows it, he grabs her hand making her fall on his chest. Her eyes widen in surprise and she tries to move away from his hold but he grips her more tightly. She looks at his face and sees that his eyes are still closed which means that he's still sleeping.

“Underboss! Underboss!" She calls out to see if he would hear her but there is no response as he keeps moving his head side ways.

“Wake up, hmm?” She uses her other hand to shake his shoulder. "It's just a nightmare!" She says again in a loud voice as she tries to wake him up.

Suddenly he wakes up breathing hard. It still feels like he's still in the dream as he looks around unable to recognize anything. Kemi stares at him still firmly in his grip as he looks at her, his facial expression conflicted.

"It's only a nightmare, it's fine. None of it was real."She says to him almost in a whisper as she caresses his shoulder.

He stares at her with confusion in his eyes before he starts to relax. He stares at her for a moment before his eyes travel to his hands firmly holding her.

“What the f**k are you doing on my bed?” He glares at her as he tightens his hold on her.

She wince," I'm...I was only trying to wake you up, you're...you're hurting me."

He slowly lets go of her with a frown on his face.She rushes out of the bed and turns around to leave the room but he grabs her wrist pulling her back.

“I don't f**king want you in my room again."

Kemi frowns in annoyance. She was only trying to help and that's what he says to her? She tries to pull off her hands but he's holding her tight.

“Fine! I won't come!" She yells back at him before dragging her hand off but that's only because he loosens his grip on her hand. She stomps out of the room in annoyance while he stares at her leave. He shakes his head as he recalls her annoyed facial expression. Then he climbs out of his bed in his night robe and goes over to the bathroom to have his bath.

After about 30 minutes, he walks out of his room and climbs downstairs where he sees Kemi already waiting with files in one hand and a phone in the other which she's pressing. It's the first time he's seeing her with a phone, he never thought she had any. She's wearing a blue boat neck and bishop sleeve belted gown and her full hair is styled in natural updo. Lexis stares at her as he climbs down the stairs.

“Shall we go now sir?” She asks him.

Lexis looks at her once more before he walks pass her saying nothing.

5 PM

*The family mansion*

Richard sits on the chair with his right leg crossed over the other while Alhaji Bawa opposite him.

"So Alhaji, is there a problem?" he asks as he drinks from the glass of whiskey in his right hand.

Alhaji Bawa sighs before he smiles lightly. “Well, I came here because I know that you're the only one that can get through to Lexis. That boy is way too stubborn to listen to me."

Richard leans closer with interest. "Oh really?What happened?”

"It's no cause for alarm my dear friend. I was just humiliated at the auction and it still bothers me deeply." He says making an unhappy face.

"How do you mean Alhaji? Were you not satisfied wvith anything?" Richard asks looking at him as he holds up his glass.

"I bid for this particular girl but then, I was told I cannot have her. It turns out Lexis has already taken her in." He relaxes his back on the chair.

"Lexis already took her in? Who's this girl Alhaji?”

Alhaji Bawa shrugs, "Well, she was the only one that captured my interest and I felt so terrible when that happened. I had gone to try and negotiate with Lexis but you know..." He shrugs. “He firmly told me l cannot have her."

“I am really sorry about this Alhaji, I had no idea."

"It's fine, no big deal."

“Since Lexis already took her, were there none other that catches your interest Bawa?”

“No, not at all. I had to leave because it wasn't satisfying at all. If I can get this girl, I would really like it."

Richard sighs. Alhaji Bawa is one of his important persons because of how rich and affluent he is. He has invested a lot in the family casino and has been doing great business with them so he always made sure he's satisfied whenever there's an auction. He cannot let Lexis childishness affect his business in any way.

Richard tilts his head,"Oh? So you want her then?”

Alhaji Bawa grins lightly.

“Yes. I have never seen a girl like that in any auction. She looked innocent, brave and... I just feel l can use her for a lot of gains, you know what I mean.”

Richard nods, “You must have really felt bad..." He sighs.

“I will talk to Lexis about it and get back to you.”

Alhaji Bawa smiles,"I would really love that, thank you."

5: 30PM

On the way back to the mansion, in the car, Kemi keeps going through files in her hand while Lexis presses his phone. Then, he pauses and turns to Robert at the front seat.

“Give me that tab Robert.”

Robert nods and quickly brings out a Samsung tab before handling it to Lexis. Lexis collects it from him and stretches it out to Kemi. She raises up her head from the files and looks at him in confusion.

“You should input some of your useful things inside. It's better than ruffling through the files every time..."He shrugs. “Who knows, maybe you would know how to act as a proper PA then.”

Kemi looks at the tab in his hand before slowly taking it from him.

“Should I transfer..." She starts to say but he cuts her off.

“Don't ask me shit, just do the right things with it." He turns away from her and looks through the tinted glass of the car.

She looks at the tab and sighs before putting it beside her. Today has been very stressful for her and all day, she received insults from Lexis. No matter how hard she is trying, he would still tell her that she knows nothing. Despite that, she didn't care. She would take corrections when she needs to and did not hesitate to learn more.

She lifts her head up from the files and looks at Lexis who is looking through the glass with his usual blank expression.

“How could such a good looking person be so mean?” She wonders in thought as she stares at him. Ever since William told her he killed his own mother, she couldn't stop wondering why he would do that. Does he really not have feelings? Was it by a mistake? Did he ever feel sorry? Or maybe guilt? Is he even bothered by it? Those people that he has hurt, did he ever feel remorseful or regret? Or does he find joy in doing them? She still remembered vividly how he shot that man at the florida room and didn't even feel like he took a life.

He looked so much in pain when she tried to wake him up from his nightmare. What was it about? Was the nightmare about the bad thing she must have done? But then again, why is she curious? It's none of her business.

Just as she is about to turn away, Lexis catches her staring.

“What?" He asks in his usual husky voice.

She gulps and quickly turns away.

Lexis sighs, “I get that I'm good looking but it's creepy when you stare like that.”

Kemi's eyes widen and she turns to look at him in disbelief. Is he actually calling himself 'good looking' with so much confidence? Who does that?

"I wasn't staring." She says in a low voice.

He arches an eyebrow,“Oh yeah? You can stare if you want though. I'm used to it." He shrugs.

Kemi moves her eyes away from him and sighs shaking her head.

“So you wore the clothes at the end."

Kemi turns to him again at his words as she looks down to the gown she's wearing. “I had no choice." She says.

He grins, “You got pride huh, scaredy cat?"

“I should.”

He shakes his head,“Your pride is not attractive..." He shrugs before adding on. “I mean, who have pride when they're broke?”

Kemi bit her lower lip without saying anything. She simply looks away.

“But you got terrible tastes in shoes though."

Kemi looks at him again before her eyes travel down to the worn out black loafers she's wearing. Rose is the one who had given her the shoe.

Lexis tsk at her shaking his head, "You should change it. I can't have you working as my PA wearing that trash.”

Kemi looks at the loafers again. It did looks very old. "I don't find anything wrong with it." She lies looking away.

Lexis scoffs,"Of course you won't since you have bad tastes."

Kemi didn't say anything.

"I will have someone bring you new pairs."

Kemi shakes her head, “That won't be necessary.”

"It will, since you're my PA.”

Kemi sighs and fidgets with her fingers. Soon they arrive at the mansion. Erica is standing with George at the bar area and they both bow at the sight of Lexis as he walks into the foyer. She stares at Erica.

Now she's realizing that she hasn't seen her for weeks. She wonders what happened to her. They walk over to him.

"I can't get a hold of Jayson, underboss." Erica says.

Kemi raise her head up at the hearing of Jayson's name. It's the same name of her high school boyfriend who almost gave her a trauma. She shakes her head brushing off the thought of him.

“What do you mean Erica?”

“I asked him to meet me but he has disappeared."

Lexis sighs and shakes his head, “Does that bastard think you want to punish him or what? I was just f**king with him.”

Erica didn't say anything but simply look at Kemi in puzzle. She wonders why Kemi is well dressed and holding files beside the underboss. She has never liked Kemi, she feels like she's one of those girls trying to get attention. There's no way she would allow her get close to Lexis.

"Leave it to me, I will handle it Erica."

Erica nods before bowing her head.

"George, what are your findings?" Lexis turns to George.

“There is a mole in the family underboss."

Lexis nods, “I thought as much. Make sure you bring the mole to me."

George nods, “Yes underboss."

He nods before walking away. Erica looks at Kemi once more before she follows Lexis. Kemi turns around to walk away but George holds her back.

“You won't say hi?” He feigns a pout.

She blinks at him in surprise. She didn't expect to see him here and the last time she tried to talk to him, he wasn't in the right mood so it's surprising that he's talking to her.

“I...I thought you won't..."

He cuts her off with a smile, “You thought I won't what, I won't talk to you?”

She smiles at him before saying "Hi, it's been long."

He smiles back, “Yes it is. I see you have been promoted, how nice."

She shrug her shoulders “You could put it like that.”

He nods, "So how have you been?”

“Never been better."

He grins at her, "How about we go for a ride? You could need a cool off.”

She blinks as she hears him, A ride? Can they do that?

"A ride?"

He nods, “Yes, I came with my sport car. It will be fun l promise."

She bit her bottom lips. She would sincerely love that, going for a ride won't be a bad idea but then she doesn't know if she can just leave. "I don't know...I have things to do."

“Give your self a break, Kemi. I'm sure the underboss won't mind.”

Kemi moves her eyes from side to side thinking about it and then she looks at him. “Do you know any tips on how l can cope with my job? Only then will I come with you."

He twitches his lips, “Oh? That's fine by me, I know a thing or two."

Kemi smiles, "Okay then, I will go put down these files. Would you be able to wait so l can freshen up?”

George nods and smiles, “You're worth the wait, Madmoiselle.”

Kemi smiles at him before walking away. George goes over to sit on the chair at the bar side pouring a drink for himself. Some minutes later, Kemi climbs down the stairs wearing a red gown which stops a little above her knee.

She walks over to where George sits. "I'm done now.”

George smiles at the sight of her and takes her hand in his. "Let's go then." He starts pulling her after him but she didn't move.

He turns to her in confusion. "Is there a problem?”

"Um..." She scratches the back of her head. "Can...Can I bring someone along?”

George narrows his brows, “You have a friend?”

She nods,“Yes. I thought I should bring her along...but if ...if you don't like it, I can..."

George shakes his head with a smile, “It's fine. She can come along.”

Kemi climbs back upstairs and comes back down with Rose following beside her.

"Hello, I'm Rose. Thanks for letting me tag along." She smiles at George.

George grins at her, “Oh hi, I'm George and you're welcome."

He turns to Kemi. “So shall we?”

Kemi nods, "Thanks.”

"Give me your hand.” He says to Kemi who smiles at him before putting her hands in his. He leads her out of the foyer over to where he had parked his car.

The drive was so fast that Kemi didn't even realize when he came to a stop at a wide open space close to a river. She steps out of the car breathing hard as this is the first time she is experiencing something like this. She lowers her head standing beside the car and George stands on her right side while Rose on the right.

“Was I too fast?" He asked her worried.

She shakes her head, "I...I enjoyed the ride. It's just my first time going so fast, that's why." She smiles at him.

He smiles back and nods, “Okay."

"This place is amazing." Rose says looking at the peaceful waters and the quiet place.

George nods, “Yes, I come here sometimes. To get my head straight."

Kemi sighs as she looks at the environment. It feels so peaceful and just what she needs at the moment.She smiles at George.

“Thank you." She says to him in a low voice.

He smiles and nods.

“I felt you needed a break." He says to her.

“Can I go over to the waters?" Rose asks with her eyes glued to the water.

George grins, “Sure, just be careful."

“Of course." Rose says before running off like a child.

"She's a pretty girl." George says.

Kemi nods, “Of course, and she's very sweet too."

He nods, "So, tell me. How have you been? You must have felt really scared when you were brought to the auction." He says looking at her as they both leaves against the car.

She nods, “Yes. I thought I was going to leave with someone l know nothing of. And he looked so old and scary.

George smiles. He was actually worried when he saw her at the auction. He might not have spent much time with Kemi but he finds her to be innocent and adorable. He wouldn't want anything to hurt her.

"You will be fine, don't you worry Kemi.You are a strong girl." He smiles at her.

She smiles back, “Thank you George, really thank you. You're really nice."

He smiles broadly, “Oh really?”

She nods, “Of course, for real.”

"So tell me..." He starts to say folding his arms across his chest. "How did you move from being his maid to his PA? The underboss dosen't just employ anyone." He has been wondering how she made her to become the underboss' PA when other maids that worked in the house did not last a week.

She shrugs, "I don't know. I only asked him and was shocked he considered it.”

He nods,“I see. I guess you are too irresistible then."

She smiles. "Oh, thank you. So..." She starts to say. "Is there any tip you can help me with, concerning the PA?" She asks.

He sighs, “Well, it's not something you can just learn orally..." He pauses before adding on. “Well l have someone who can lecture you. You have a phone right?"

She nods,“Yes I do.”

"I will give her your number so she can take you on some basics. She was once a PA herself, she's um... a friend of mine."

Kemi smiles, “That would be very helpful. Thank you."'

He nods, "Anytime."

"If I may ask, what do you do for the underboss?” She asks him.

He looks at her and grins lightly. “Well, lots of things."

“You do not seem close to him, I guess it's cause he's not friendly."

George laughs lightly. “He's our boss, we don't have to be close to him.”

Kemi sighs, "He's...He's really cruel."'

George sighs and looks at the direction where Rose is busy walking in the waters. “He wasn't always like that." He says in a low voice.

Kemi turns to him with an intrigued expression “How was he like?”
