Chapter 32: Chapter 32

MY SISTER IS GONE!

Jason dozed off for a minute. He remembered when he and Jemmy went to the mansion.

"Holy heavens! Is this really you?" Selena yelled. "Ah, she's with you. Isn't she?"

"Where are the workers? There's no one by the gate." Jason hurried past his sister and Jemimah followed him.

"Are you really asking me that? Who wants to work for a man who bursts into a lethal flame?" Selena asked. "Am I even safe being here right now?"

"Yeah, as long as you stop asking so many questions." Jason replied while he and Jemimah were running up the stairs. But Selena ran after them. "Hey! What did you do to my brother?"

Jemimah didn't want to get involved in an argument with Selena. So, she tapped Jason on the back. "She deserves a quick explanation."

"So, she tells you what to do now?"

"Can you just shut up for a second!" Jason was obviously angered by her incessant questions. When he looked at his sister, his eyes were literally on fire. Selena was so scared that she fell down the stairs.

Immediately, Jason rushed to where she lay in fear. She was terribly afraid. One of her ankles hurt. "Bloody hell! Jay, are you going to hurt me too?"

"Of course I won't! You are the most annoying human being in the whole of history. But I love you so much." He held his sister.

She gathered some courage, turned and looked at him. "Ouch! I think I have fractured my leg."

"I'm sorry about that. But Selena, we are on the run."

"Yeah, I saw you on TV. And just now, your eyes turned into flames."

"The thing is, there are two deadly cults after us. They think we are important for the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy."

"You?" Selena was shocked. "Ancient prophecy? They are totally wrong."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Well, you are just so terrible at everything except football."

This made Jemimah laugh a little bit. "Sorry." She apologized.

"Come close," Selena whispered to her brother. "Is your pretty sweetheart a witch? Did she initiate you?"

"No, yes! But she didn't initiate…" Jason stuttered.

"This is really awkward. But I am right here," Jemimah said out loud. "I can hear you."

"Is she hearing me because of her spiritual powers?" Selena looked puzzled.

"Stop being a drama queen! She is just right here and you've got a loud voice," Jason replied. "Sis, do you trust me?"

"Of course I don't! You are just the person I distrust the least in the entire world, that's all."

'Awwwn! They are so cute,' Jemmy said in her thoughts.

"Wow! Well, that's really nice." Jason smiled. "The thing is, we haven't got much time but I promise to explain everything to you later."

"When is later?" Selena asked.

"As soon as possible."

"What do…"

"Oh my goodness! Can you just listen to me? Our lives are at risk!"

"Okay."

"Thank you. We are here to pick a few things and hit the road. We need to change our look too. Can you help us with that, please?"

"Sure."

"Can I come with you guys."

"No, it's dangerous. You haven't got any supernatural power. And these cults are vicious!" Jason looked at Selena. "I know you are scared. But you waited for me when everyone fled. That means a lot to me."

"You are still my baby brother, remember? I left you for a few weeks and you ended up with an witch instead of a normal human girlfriend." She turned to Jemmy. "Sorry, I didn't mean that in a bad way."

"No offence taken," Jemimah replied. "Sorry we had to meet this way.

I'm not really a big fan of cults and witches."

"It's okay. I'm pretty sure we'll meet some other time and laugh over all this."

"Me too."

Selena trimmed Jemmy and her brother's hair. She made the man blond and the woman auburn.

"You should leave too. They might come searching for me and find you. Go back to the city we moved from. Rent an apartment and keep a low profile." Jason and Jemimah kissed his sister goodbye.

When he opened his eyes, he realized that he could hear Selena screaming from afar. He didn't know exactly where she was. "Jemmy!" He said out loud.

"Is anything the matter?" she replied from the balcony. Her heart was racing. She had been very restless.

"Faya's coven has gotten to my sister." Tears rolled down his cheek.
