Chapter 48: Chapter 48
"Ha. Ha. Very funny... Only fools would laugh at that stupid sentence." He spat his eyes brushing over everyone's faces.
"What did you just say?" Adrian asked in a cold tone every hint of smiling having disappeared from his fine face as he himself had also laughed at what he just said.
"What, are you deaf now?" Jake replied.
If he was shaking in his shoes, no one wasn't seeing it. They saw Jake in another light. He was finally standing up to his bully.
Some saw it as a temporary courage since he was already leaving their school.
Jake knew Adrian couldn't beat him in the hallway as there was two to three CCTV cameras installed at auspicious points in the hallway.
"You prick. I see you've grown wings eh?" Adrian asked his anger clouding his eyes.
He would disregard the fact that there were security cameras, his consequences and punishments and deal with this boy's black ass!
"Dummy. You're so pathetic, I feel sorry for you." Jake said boldly to Adrian's face feeling courage for once in his entire lifetime that he had known Adrian.
"What did you just call me?" Adrian asked his patience running thin.
"It's a code red! Adrian has gone deaf! But I guess it is to be expected... He's dumb as well." He replied with a smirk.
He loved this new him. It was a great feeling to see Adrian seething with so much anger and he couldn't do anything or so Jake thought.
SLAP!
A sound resonated in the whole hallway as everyone anticipated the next move. Everyone held their breaths that the whole hallway that was normally filled with chatter was so quiet a pin dropping would be heard.
Heaving heavily with a red face was Adrian as he glared at the black boy who was holding to his burning cheeks in front of him.
Jake raised his head and dropped his bag that was formerly in his hand to the floor. The thud made everyone shudder as they suddenly felt the whole hallway cold.
A girl adjusted her bag to find it so cold to touch. The tension in this hallway right now was so thick and it was indeed a miracle that no teacher had passed maybe from exiting their last taught class.
SLAP!
A sound resonated in the hallway that was still quiet with people standing there with their tails tucked in between their legs.
SLAP!
Another reverberating one followed and they froze further if that was even possible.
SLAP!
Everyone's eyes widened as they watched Jake give Adrian a slap on his right cheek. He had not given him the chance to recover from the shock of that first ear defeaning slap when he slapped his right cheek yet again.
Adrian hadn't registered the second one or the stinging on his cheek when Jake's hand made contact with his cheek yet again for the third time in the last five seconds.
Adrian, the school jock and bully had just received three slaps in the span of five seconds from the person they least expected. Jake Sanders!
Jake Sanders, the forever bullied had actually stood up to his bully! For once in his entire life!
Adrian had used one slap to collect three resounding and echoing ones! No one expected the turn of events.
They watched in agony for Adrian's reaction as Jake stood up to him bringing his face closer.
"Stay. The. Fuck. Away. From. Me. Do. You. Understand. Me?" He seethed and his eyes searched for answers from Adrian.
Adrian reluctantly nodded his head once he saw the teacher approaching. Like before, they would take his side, punish the black ass bitch and then he would give him his own special punishment after school.
"You had better do." Jake replied as his eyes swept over the crowd whose mouth were hanging open. Some forgot to cover it and it just hung open while some had the dignity and good memory of using their hand to cover their dropping mouth. Even though it was few that did.
Jake took a deep breath releasing it before he bent down to pick up his bags.
"What's going on here?!" He heard and he smirked.
He turned around to see the teacher looking at him accusingly. Of course, he was to blame. He was always to blame.
He turned around with a smile and faced Adrian who had a satisfied look on his face.
Jake passed by him stopping at the last second. He leaned in a little bit closer so only him and him alone would hear what he had to say.
"Go on then. Go cry to your daddy. Don't forget to wag your tail at him by the way. And then when he's about to do something, ask him if he knows Manilla Company CEO."
Jake leaned away to see Adrian's ashen face. Ah, just the picture he had in mind. It looked even better then his imagination.
He really wished he had captured his face.
"Just a small advice, really." He added with a wink at Adrian who had turned pale.
"Bye now. I'll be leaving. Get well soon." He said and patted his butt before he walked away.
Soon, the crowd that had formed paved way for him to walk while they whispered amongst themselves wondering what Jake could have told Adrian to make him look so sick and pale like a ghost.
Jake smirked. They would never know. They weren't ready to die at least.
He opened his eyes and found himself still at the locker smiling at himself. Even though he had done that on his last day, he found any hand coming near him traumatizing. Then, he realized, he was traumatized by the severe beatings.
His parents employed for him a therapist who helped him for two months of therapy and working out sessions before he could finally he amongst humans without being scared Adrian would pop out of nowhere and yet again, he was in for another beating.
When he got better, his parents had him employed into the school through backdoor ways as Silva High didn't accept students anymore since it was almost in between the term.
He shook his head as the bell rang indicating the first period was over.
He would just attend the second one and officially his school had started.
He looked outside to see if he would catch sight of Quinnel and Navaeh but once he saw they weren't there, he shrugged and walked away.
Outside the school on the field.
Quinnel was sitting on the bleachers with his hand on his lap folded together staring into nothingness while Navaeh was sitting to his right also staring into nothingness.
They had decided to not talk about it since there was practically nothing to talk about. Even though there was.
The matter was pressing at the back of their mind but they shut it out for now.
But both had a made a crazy revelation about each other.
Navaeh found out she didn't want Quinnel to be angry with her as she also didn't want him to misunderstand the relationship between her and Jake. Because she liked him. She had fallen for Quinnel! The boy she wanted nothing to do with two months ago.
The same boy that was rumoured to change girlfriend like he changed clothes.
Quinnel found out it was pure jealousy that made him angry. Which only confirmed one thing.
No, he didn't like Jake but he was slowly falling for the girl beside him.
He turned his head to look at her right when she did the same. Both held gazes as they felt it was the right thing to do.
Their heart thumped against their ribcage as they moved closer. It was like their bodies had a mind of its own or their bodies were magnets and suddenly their lips brushed each other before Quinnel pulled her closer and like that, their lips danced together.
No one knew who initiated the kiss but were too indulged in the kiss to even notice anything or even think.
Quinnel tilted her head to gain access before he tugged at her lower lips and Navaeh was quick to open her mouth giving him access to delve his tongue into her mouth to explore it.
