Lord of The Mysterious Realms Chapter 983
It was common knowledge that Her Majesty the Queen was in poor health, but there had never been any news that her death was imminent. So, when Silver Flute Miss abruptly shared this information, everyone in the living room was utterly astonished.
"I'm absolutely not joking. I heard it from a very reliable source." Read full story at Novᴇl_Fire(.)net
Silver Flute Miss guaranteed. Jenkins considered for a moment, thinking it was highly likely she had gotten the news from Miss Windsor. After all, it was Silver Flute Miss who had contacted Miss Windsor last month when they double-crossed the illegal arms dealers.
"Her Majesty the Queen has always been in poor health, and she is simply very old," Silver Flute Miss explained. "Even by the standards of the Fidektri Kingdom's famously long-lived royal family, she has lived a long life. It wouldn't be unusual for her to pass away now."
"But if the Queen passes, does the royal family have an heir?"
"The Middleton family has no direct descendants left. I've heard that the first in line for the throne is a viscount from the Cheslan Kingdom."
This was what everyone was thinking. While the Fidektri Kingdom was known for its open-minded culture, no one would be willing to welcome a foreigner as their new king.
"In that case, if the Queen passes away, the chances of civil unrest in the kingdom will become very high."
"Not just high. There will definitely be civil unrest."
Silver Flute Miss replied, a view that Jenkins also shared.
"The Fidektri Kingdom is on the brink of war with Cheslan, and yet the top candidate for our throne is a Cheslan nobleman... At a time , neither the parliament nor the people would accept someone from an enemy nation as their monarch... Was Duke Antak's death really a coincidence?"
Mr. Hood summarized in astonishment, then followed his train of thought to ask a question that stunned everyone into silence. It was an incredibly bold speculation, but upon closer examination, not entirely impossible. Even Jenkins, who had killed Duke Antak himself, began to have his doubts.
"Under the current circumstances, even if that foreigner were to claim the crown, he would never win the support of the parliament or the people. That would be incredibly dangerous—for him and for the country."
"It feels like a storm is brewing. All these conflicts are erupting at once. I just hope we don't see another war that engulfs the entire continent."
Mr. White Cat murmured, and the others voiced their agreement.
Although Silver Flute Miss's news was purely secular, it was more shocking than anything else discussed. Mr. Hood rose to prepare fresh tea for everyone. The group chatted a little longer about the kingdom's situation before finally turning to the last speaker, Hathaway, also known as Skylark Miss.
"What a coincidence. The information I have also relates to the kingdom's situation."
She set down her teacup and glanced again at Mr. Candle's cat. Hathaway had considered getting a kitten herself to grow closer to Jenkins, but she later realized his interest wasn't in cats in general, but specifically in Chocolate.
"A large contingent of the Nolan Navy is preparing to set sail. Their target is the pirate kings who've appeared on the outer seas—no, not Femishue, but the other six. They've all been spotted... This operation is a joint effort between the Church and the navy. I'd advise everyone to stay away from the Broken Isles sea region for the next six months."
"Just at this critical moment, the pirate kings draw away the Nolan Navy. Interesting,"
Jenkins muttered, but no one followed up on his comment.
There were seven major powers currently known as the pirate kings. Most of them operated in the vast seas beyond human civilization, acting as part-time explorers and robbers, and occasionally as tax-evading free merchants. They were an extremely complex collection of gangs.
Nearly every coastal city, including Nolan, had spies and outposts belonging to these pirates. For the pirate kings' fleets to appear so openly and so close to Nolan was truly baffling.
Jenkins suspected that nobles from the kingdom's upper echelon had paid them off to stir up trouble at this crucial time. Magic Miss, however, believed they were after Femishue, who was in Nolan. After all, the value of the Heart of the Ocean was something that anyone who made their living from the sea would covet.
Even among the vast number of Bestowals, most numbered items with "Heart of" in their name possessed power far exceeding others. Such items could fuse with the user's body, replacing the function of their heart, thereby drastically strengthening them and granting them direct control over natural forces.
For instance, a mere derivative of the Heart of the Machine was a terrifying Cursed Item, which spoke volumes about the power of "Heart of" type items.
Of course, not everyone present was a saint with no worldly desires. The craving for the Heart of the Ocean wasn't limited to just Magic Miss and Silver Flute Miss. Naturally, no one showed it, but each person was entertaining their own ideas.
As for Jenkins, he had no designs on the Heart of the Ocean for the time being. According to Papa Oliver, the item had mutated from absorbing too much power, and it was debatable whether it could even be considered a Bestowal anymore.
After the information exchange came the item trading session, and Jenkins once again put out a request to purchase a thousand-year-old wood heart. He had used up his entire stock during the Skull Sword incident, so he had to start over with the elven potion. Yet, in just one week, he had managed to acquire two more. Jenkins felt that his Fate's Stage ability might truly be at work.
His premonition after encountering the Young Flower Seller this morning—that it would be a lucky day—had been correct. Silver Flute Miss, who had sold him a wood heart before, surprisingly produced another one. They traded at the same price as last time, which meant Jenkins was now only one short.
No one was looking to sell any numbered items this time, and the prices for various materials had generally risen by twenty percent. This was related to the undead invasion from the previous week. Every Enchanter living in the city now understood its dangers. Aside from a few like Mr. Black Cat who had left, most were preparing to face new challenges.
During the conversation, Magic Miss gestured for Jenkins to wait for her. So after the gathering ended, Jenkins found an alley nearby and stood waiting. Once he saw Magic Miss's point of light separate from Silver Flute Miss's, he quickly followed.
The woman wasn't surprised that Jenkins could find her from two streets away. He had demonstrated this peculiar skill for locating people and objects many times during their past collaborations.
