Lord of The Mysterious Realms Chapter 625

I still remember the first time I became a god. The divinity burned away at a blinding speed. But after experiencing this state again and again, the rate at which my divinity burns—when I'm not using any abilities—has slowed to an imperceptible crawl.

God faced god, their gazes meeting.

"I became a god in this epoch," Jenkins began. "There should be no grudges between us."

Jenkins did not open his mouth. Ordinary words were formed by vibrating air, but he had already mastered a way to produce sound by vibrating energy itself. A feat, of course, limited to this divine state.

"No, new god. You and my followers do have some grievances," the other god replied. "While I shouldn't meddle in the affairs of mortals, I must admit, that fraud of yours was truly exceptional. It piqued my interest. I hope we can resolve this matter through a wager. Though you did not profit from the scheme, you did, after all, deceive the followers of a god who holds the [Lie Godhood]."

Jenkins felt this was utterly absurd. A god would never become hostile to another for such a trivial reason. Unless, of course, He truly was captivated by the "Fabry Fraud."

Unfortunately, Jenkins was in no position to refuse. The other god was stronger.

"It's simple," the God of Lies proposed with a smile. "The terms are this: can you successfully deceive me before the end of the day? If you succeed, I will grant you one of my divine domains. If you fail, I will ask you to help me with a small mortal problem. The epoch is drawing to a close. Aside from new gods like you, born within this era, it is difficult for us to interfere with the material world on a large scale."

"Before the day is out?"

He asked softly, seated upon a sacred unicorn.

"Yes. And I believe you have need of a divine domain."

Jenkins looked at Him again. There was definitely a scheme afoot. Trying to deceive the God of Lies with a lie was a joke in itself, but he had no choice but to agree.

The god before him was right. He truly did need a divine domain.

The moment the words were spoken, the stars in the material world underwent a dramatic change. To Enchanters, the star representing the Prince of Lies suddenly dimmed, while the star of destiny representing the new god began to shine with brilliant intensity.

Across the entire western part of the world, a magnificent meteor shower could be seen. Prismatic light streaked across the silent night sky, shattering a stable order that had remained unchanged for a thousand years.

Miss Audrey was not in Nolan at that moment. She stood in the center of a great stone circle upon a barren plain, her head tilted up toward the glittering constellations in the night sky.

"A shift in divine domain?"

Only the most sensitive astrologers or diviners could perceive such a thing. Googlᴇ search novel·fiɾe·net

The lie began with their very first exchange:

"Are you Mr. Jenkins Williams?"

"Yes, I am. Hello. Have we met before?"

He was not Jenkins. At least, a part of him was not.

An indescribable sense of fullness flooded his heart. Jenkins felt as if the world, which had always seemed shrouded in a thin mist, had suddenly become crystal clear. His soul delved deeper into the secrets of this world, and a vast amount of knowledge surfaced in his mind.

Deceiving a god who held the [Lie Godhood] was never so simple. The god seated on the sacred unicorn looked up and, as expected, saw a satisfied smile spread across the face of the god opposite him:

"Congratulations, new God of Lies. From this day forward, I shall be the [God of Shadow and Stealth], patron to all who lurk and move in the darkness. All who walk in shadow may find shelter in me."

"What is He planning?"

Jenkins asked himself.

The answer surfaced naturally: "He wants to switch sides. To discard [Lies] and become a pseudo-god accepted by the Righteous Gods."

It was hard to describe his current feelings. As he had suspected, Jenkins had fallen into a trap. But both gods had achieved their goals, and so it was a mutually satisfactory outcome.

The shimmering unicorn carried the new [God of Lies] soaring into the sky, while the [God of Shadow and Stealth] vanished into the darkness.

One after the other, they arrived in the sky above a forest on the city's outskirts. Deafening hymns echoed through the air, and a gentle yet immense light pulsed through the night. Others were already waiting:

The [God of Corpses and Sacrifices] descended, using a coroner's body as a vessel. His eyes were deep and reserved, and wailing souls materialized in the air around him.

The [God of Music] descended through the body of Hathaway's "cousin." She stood upon a sheet of music suspended in the void, offering Jenkins a noble smile and a nod.

The [God of Mystery and Rituals] inhabited the form of a noblewoman Jenkins had never seen before, a complex, shimmering divine array glowing beneath her feet.

The [God of Flowers and Festivals] descended through the young girl Jenkins had met outside the cemetery. This divine being was only waist-high to Jenkins, yet the power she radiated was the strongest among the five gods present.

"Why are you here? You are not welcome."

The [God of Flowers and Festivals] directed her question to the [God of Shadow and Stealth].

"We are all connected to this affair by the threads of fate."

The god of shadow answered.

"You betrayed your alliance?"

"Yes. I am no longer the God of Lies, and thus cannot stand with the evil gods. The former followers of lies have all vanished, and I have lost my core domain of lies. From now on, I shall appear as the new god, the [God of Shadow and Stealth]."

Jenkins didn't know how the evil gods judged such matters, but the other four deities seemed to accept this explanation. He understood one thing, at least: the fact that the followers of lies in Aediran had been captured so easily, with all their information exposed, had everything to do with their god.

The former [God of Lies] had found a way to completely abandon [Lies] by using the power of lies to deceive his own followers—and another god.

The six gods stood suspended between the night sky and the earth, greeting one another like ordinary people. Jenkins felt a little awkward meeting the gaze of the God of Music—also known as the [Wondrous Musical Score]—as he had once "stolen" a drop of her divinity.

But she didn't seem to mind. In any case, Jenkins refused to believe she was unaware that the drop of divinity had ever existed.

"Could it be... that she left that drop of divinity for me on purpose?"

The thought suddenly occurred to Jenkins. He looked up, and the goddess was smiling right at him.

Once the six gods fell silent, a commotion erupted in the distance. The piercing cry of a baby came from the main road outside the forest, followed by the appearance of countless lights from torches and paraffin lamps.

The deafening sound of staggering explosions and bestial roars followed, and the mist grew thicker as the sounds drew nearer.

And yet, somehow, no one seemed to notice the six extraordinary pillars of celestial light or the deep, sacred hymns that filled the air.
