Lord of The Mysterious Realms Chapter 576

"St. George Avenue? Is that where your friend lives?"

Miss Silver Flute inquired, "This means that whatever happened on St. George Avenue is indeed very serious, so much so that an ordinary Enchanter can't even detect anything amiss. I believe it's best we stay far away from such a place. It was a wise decision for your friend to move out."

Her advice was met with everyone's approval. Jenkins had a feeling Hathaway would definitely come looking for him tomorrow.

The third person to share news was Mr. White Cat, and his topic was also related to Jenkins.

"This is the latest news," Mr. White Cat began. "Although it has nothing to do with the supernatural, it's something every Enchanter living in this city should know.

Yesterday evening, City Hall held a ceremony for the lighting of the new city streetlights. The representative from the Sage's Church wasn't the old Bishop Parrold, but a young man named Jenkins Williams. He was wearing the ring that symbolizes a bishop's authority on his finger. You all know what that implies."

"Jenkins Williams? The writer?"

This question came from Jenkins himself; he realized he had spoken the least so far.

"Yes, he's the winner of this year's Ritter Prize. If you know anything about high society, you'll know he's the most sought-after figure in the city's social circles right now. Unfortunately, he rarely makes public appearances, and there's very little information available on him. Mr. Hood, did you have a question?"

"More than just a candidate. We all know the Sage's Church has always had a peculiar way of appointing bishops. Even if this Williams isn't on the list of local clergy, it's not impossible for him to be suddenly appointed by the Holy See. The current Bishop Parrold is getting on in years; anything could happen."

"If that's really the case, then this is truly a major development."

Miss Silver Flute exclaimed.

To prevent every topic at the gathering from revolving around him, Jenkins proactively brought up the fourth piece of news—something that had, in fact, been puzzling him for some time:

"About a week ago, maybe two, New God Cultists appeared at a lumber mill outside the city. It belongs to the Madison family. According to my information, there's a dilapidated, unrecorded church on that property. The Madisons were preparing for a human sacrifice ritual, but the New God Cultists destroyed half the church. As of now, no one knows which deity that church was dedicated to."

He glanced at the others. It wasn't exactly breaking news, so no one had heard about it. The ensuing discussion focused entirely on speculating about the New God Cultists' motives, rather than the origins of the church itself.

He had originally thought Magic Miss, with her expertise in rituals, might have some insight, but she seemed completely uninterested in the matter.

Next, it was Hathaway's turn. She was the first person tonight to bring up a topic that had absolutely nothing to do with Jenkins.

"A massive collapse occurred in a mine in the Nolan mountains. While clearing the accident site, workers discovered a large, hidden ruin underground."

Jenkins knew about this. Papa Oliver had gone there to acquire a batch of antiques and had forbidden Jenkins from tagging along.

"According to rumors, someone encountered a pure-blood dragon while investigating the ruins after the mine disaster. That particular rumor is circulating widely."

This was Jenkins's addition to the conversation, and it was the full extent of his knowledge on the subject.

"Yes, that's correct. But you've got one thing wrong, Mr. Candle. The dragon's appearance isn't just a rumor."

Hathaway narrowed her eyes. The breathing of the people standing nearby grew heavy.

"This is no laughing matter."

Mr. Hood said dryly, "We all know a dragon's colossal size would be impossible to hide. Besides, a creature like that has an enormous appetite. If one really appeared in the mountains near the city, how could it possibly go unnoticed?"

"But someone found Wyrmgrass near the ruins," Hathaway countered. "That's a plant that only grows in areas inhabited by pure-blood dragons or their near-pure-blood offspring. Not many people know the accurate details yet, but this isn't something that can be kept secret for long. If any of you are looking to make a fortune, you might want to try your luck over there."

The impact of this news was far greater than anything shared before. While dragons, like unicorns, are considered intelligent magical creatures, the influence of the ancient dragon kingdoms on human history and culture was vastly greater than that of unicorns, which have always lived in proximity to the elves.

Jenkins glanced in the direction Hathaway had indicated, feeling once again the dire circumstances Nolan City was facing. Follow current novels on NovelHub(.)net

Magic Miss was the last to share information. She had originally intended to talk about the blood moon, but since Mr. Hood had already covered it, she had to switch topics.

"I've recently been researching the mine tunnels beneath Nolan. It's a fascinating subject."

"I heard the Gear Artisans' Association, the ones spreading the Gear Germs, are based deep within those underground tunnels."

Mr. White Cat interjected. But aside from Jenkins, who had heard rumors about a related investigation, no one could confirm this.

"By chance, I came across a special sealing ritual, and I discovered that the layout of some of the tunnels corresponds to that ritual's pattern. Since I can't get a complete map of the tunnels, I can't confirm my hypothesis. But if what Mr. White Cat says is true, then the Gear Artisans' Association must be searching for something that was sealed underground."

"So, what is the ritual you've been studying typically used to seal?"

"It can seal anything. But the ritual is complex, time-consuming, and has extremely strict requirements. The only beings powerful enough to warrant such a seal would be, at the very least, one of those aberrations from the void."

Everyone drew a sharp, cold breath. Mr. Hood's gasp was so deep that the frigid air irritated his lungs, sending him into a fit of coughing.

Before the information sharing session concluded, Mr. Hood added one last piece of news, this one concerning their gathering:

"Magic Miss, Miss Skylark... oh, and Mr. Candle. I believe you all remember the night Mr. Candle first joined us, and the hasty retreat of Mr. Dagger."

The three of them replied in unison.

"I ran into him at the black market last week, but he didn't see me. I think we need to be careful. I noticed his name on a wanted poster from the Orthodox Church. The charge was for planning illegal activities in Bel Diran and organizing unregistered Enchanters to oppose the Church."
