This heart wasn't the Cursed Item [Mechanical Heart]. It was a replica, a creation of the Difference Engine, much like the recent [Human Jigsaw Puzzle]. Still, it possessed some of the abilities of a Cursed Item, so the passive effect of [Hero] remained effective.
Wisps of black smoke spiraled up from where the object met his palm. The smoke carried a thick stench of engine oil, a foul odor that even the sweet fragrance of the burning candles couldn't mask.
The conference hall fell silent for a moment at Jenkins's arrival, but the buzz of discussion soon resumed, as though his entrance was nothing more than a trivial interruption.
Still, most people observed him cautiously. This was the first time Jenkins had ever revealed himself as an Enchanter in such a public setting. What's more, the effects of the potion hadn't fully worn off, and the power of the Saint Son still lingered. Even as he contained his strength, he emanated an extraordinary pressure that most people in the room could feel, a palpable sense of suppression.
Miss Strass approached with her team, producing a container to secure the replica [Mechanical Heart]. Members of the Church of Creation and Machinery, likely mistaking it for the long-lost Bestowal, began to gather around as well.
As for the mechanical body created by the Difference Engine, it was swiftly dismantled, consequences be damned, and sent out of Nolan for study.
