Chapter 1905: Chapter 1905

Time always flew by during their conversations. Once the two Windsors confirmed Jenkins had no more questions for the time being, they returned to Jessica's body, and the one Jenkins had created fell into a deep slumber.

Essentially, a vegetative state.

Jenkins took two legs from a wooden chair and stimulated them with his life force, causing them to grow. On the spot, he crafted two exquisite coffins and placed the bodies inside. For aesthetic purposes, he even "drew" crystal sliding lids for the coffins, so that even when sealed, one could still admire the faces of the two ladies within.

"This feels so strange, watching my own body lie down in..."

Jessica remarked, standing beside Jenkins. She had already contacted her most trusted servants, who would soon transport the two coffins to the Windsor estate for safekeeping.

"Strange? Not really," Jenkins replied. He wasn't her, so he couldn't truly empathize.

"There's one more thing," Jessica added. "Yesterday evening, at your house... you handled things very well."

She was referring to him taking her home and explaining the situation to the other young women in his life.

"I told you I'd handle it... Alright, to be honest, I've felt incredibly guilty the whole time."

Despite her words, her smiling face showed no trace of remorse. As she spoke, she placed a hand on Jenkins's shoulder. The cat, lounging on the back of the sofa, immediately opened its eyes, sensing the shift.

Jenkins turned his head slightly, his gaze falling on her hand.

"Am I a bad woman?" Jessica asked.

His eyes remained on her hand—a beautiful hand, adorned with a white lace glove, though her fair fingers were still visible beneath it.

As she said this, her other hand came to rest on his other shoulder. Then, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a kiss.

Chocolate was not pleased, but he knew he couldn't stop Jenkins. All he could do was lie on the sofa and fix the pair with a "ferocious" glare.

"You know my body very well, don't you?"

She loosened her embrace slightly but kept her arms around his neck. They were so close that Jenkins could see the blush on Jessica's cheeks and the faint quiver of her nostrils.

"Then would you like to get to know it even better?"

Jenkins blinked. He knew exactly what she meant.

He shook his head vigorously. Seeing the pout on her face, he lowered his voice.

"It's still daytime... and we both have things to do today... How about you come over to my place tonight? My bedroom is very well decorated."

Jessica didn't nod. Instead, she kissed him again—a very inexperienced kiss, as she had never been so intimate with a man before.

After confirming their plans for the weekend, Jenkins stood at the club's entrance and watched the three-carriage convoy, carrying the two coffins and Jessica, depart. He glanced up at the sky, then realized he didn't have the ability to tell time by the sun's position. He looked down at his pocket watch. It was only half past eight. Time to head to the church.

The fifth floor of the tower that had risen last night had provided a wealth of clues. Combined with the church's week-long investigation into the Reverse-Fated Ritual, a single night had been enough to produce a highly informative report.

Jenkins received the bound report in Bevanna's office. The first thing he saw was the black photograph placed on top.

The photo showed a heart shape laid out in the sand, formed from charred human skulls. It had been taken at night, so the exposure was a bit off.

The pattern had no connection to the metal tower or any of the recent B-class Extraordinary events, which was why Jenkins was surprised to see it on the first page of the report.

"This is a copy of a photo sent last night from the fire front in southern Cheslan. It's the trace of some kind of ritual. The church has been trying to extinguish the fires, but our efforts haven't been very effective. This was discovered in an area we managed to put out. The location was the sacred temple of a primitive tribe in the southern forest—basically just a simple sacrificial altar made of stones."

Bevanna's voice was tinged with anxiety as she explained.

"What was the purpose of the ritual?"

"To move a B-class Extraordinary item that was fixed in that location. It was the tribe's sacred object, contained on-site in the southern forest, and it was nearly impossible to move. Specifically, turn to the second page."

Jenkins flipped the page and saw a simple sketch of a crude, goat-headed helmet. Judging by the indicated scale, the helmet was likely designed for a Titan.

"B-04-3-9292 [Gladiator's Honor]. It's similar to B-06-5-7340 [Brave's Colosseum], which appeared in Nolan last autumn during the demon incident. However, [Gladiator's Honor] doesn't require a fight to the death. It's more about pleasing the Extraordinary item through combat. After the duel, both the winner and the loser receive a very faint amount of spirit."

"This item was brought to Nolan?" This update ıs available on novel-fire.ɴet

Jenkins asked as he continued to flip through the report. Bevanna placed her piston fountain pen in its stand and gave him a nod.

"The third page contains evidence that it was moved to Nolan. Although we lost track of it after it entered the diocese, our seers have divined that it's most likely connected to the fifth floor of the black tower. Therefore, we believe the fifth floor is a dueling arena, created through a number of rituals and a few A-class and B-class items."

As Bevanna spoke, Jenkins kept reading. The following pages detailed the "Reverse-Fated Ritual," whose purpose was to reverse a segment of destiny. For the ritual to commence, it required a symbol of that "reversal." For instance, to reverse time, one would need something like a "reversed clock." To reverse love, the symbolic object would be a "broken heart."

Following this logic, the church believed the fifth floor of the black tower was meant to reverse the fate of either [Twin Demons] or [Hero].

The former was a Red, Martial Arts-type ability, the only Savior's Emblem that could be transferred by killing its wielder. While the latter ability was unrelated to dueling, the concept of a [Hero] carried the impression of invincibility. If someone with the [Hero] fate could be defeated in a one-on-one duel, it would also symbolize the reversal of the [Hero].

By now, nearly everyone accepted the theory that the metal tower would have nine floors, each corresponding to a Savior's Emblem. Based on this, the church desperately wanted to warn the Believers of Lies, who possessed both [Twin Demons] and [Hero], to stay away from the fifth floor of the tower at all costs.

It wasn't that the church believed they would surely lose, but rather that the Difference Engine would undoubtedly find a way to ensure their defeat.

The problem was, the church had no way to contact the Believers of Lies. They had left no means of communication, having last appeared on the fourth floor to deal with the mechanical bone birds.

Therefore, the twelve churches were disseminating this warning to every single one of their members. That way, the news would quickly spread to every Enchanter in Nolan, and the Believers of Lies would naturally hear of it.
