Lord of The Mysterious Realms Chapter 1179

[Bombardment] was a Yellow Spell ability that allowed the user to summon a lightning strike by snapping their fingers. Along with its counterparts—[Firecall], [Watercall], and [Windcall]—which also required a finger snap, it was jokingly referred to as a "Snapping Ability" by Enchanters. Aside from learning the snap and a short incantation, this type of ability was one of the rare few that required additional spell components.

For instance, [Bombardment] required a small piece of wood, [Firecall] any flammable material, [Watercall] a container to hold water, and [Windcall] any object that could produce a sound when blown into.

The spell components were not consumed, but they had to be carried. This meant that if you could find a dry, wooden container that could both hold water and be blown into to make a sound, you could essentially use all four abilities.

Jenkins pictured himself snapping his fingers to summon a lightning bolt, thinking it looked incredibly stylish and impressive. He wouldn't have minded trying it back when he was at a lower level, but now, both [Mechanical Light] and [Blasphemous Creation] could kill in a single hit. For large-scale destruction, he had [Twin Demons]. He simply had no need for [Bombardment].

[Relic Appraisal] was also a Yellow Spell, an identification ability Jenkins had coveted since he first arrived in this world. The ability originated from sailors who, when recovering the bodies of comrades lost at sea, needed to select appropriate personal effects to return to their families. Somehow, over time, it had evolved into an ability for determining the value of such relics.

"Hmm... there's definitely something strange about that."

Jenkins had heard Papa Oliver mention this ability before. When activated, the user's eyes could see auras of varying intensity surrounding different objects. Generally, the brightness of the aura determined its monetary value, but it couldn't differentiate between supernatural items and mundane ones.

It sounded like an essential skill for the kind of transmigrators from the stories he remembered—those who had to navigate a modern, magic-less metropolis. But for Jenkins, living in a high-magic (?) world, it was utterly useless.

The final ability, [Storm's Wrath], was the only divine art of the three, a high-level one from the Church of the Storm Lord. Jenkins had witnessed this ability on more than one occasion; it involved hurling a trident while consumed by rage.

"While they're all interesting, none of them seem to have any value for me."

He thought, disappointed. His cat, lying nearby, let out a soft "meow" as if in consolation.

Then he recalled what he had recently learned—that Righteous Gods could "create" Pseudo-Gods using aspects of themselves. He decided to sift through the other scattered, unsystematic fragments of knowledge he possessed, searching for clues, and was surprised to actually find something.

"The ocean blesses the sailor, the sailor connects the world, miracles are born from the first adventure, and islands are no longer lonely..."

On the surface, it seemed like a cryptic message, but the latter half of it was part of the proclamation of the Pseudo-God known as the [Guardian of the Isles].

Followers of this Pseudo-God were extremely rare on the continent, appearing mostly in coastal regions, though they were numerous overseas in places like the Shattered Archipelago. Besides protecting island dwellers, the [Guardian of the Isles] also held highly specific divine domains such as [Island Trade] and [Nautical Charting]. These were undeniably linked to the [Ocean] domain of the Storm Lord.

"So, it's highly likely this Pseudo-God is also an aspect of a Righteous God... Just how many of them have such close ties? Could it be that most Pseudo-Gods are aspects of the Righteous Gods? Unlikely... And since each Pseudo-God represents a day, what's the point of creating them? To add an extra day to the mortals' year?"

Jenkins still couldn't puzzle it out by the time the train pulled into the station. He set the thoughts aside, straightened his clothes, and prepared to see who had come to greet him.

Just as he expected, only one fleet of carriages waited outside the station. It belonged, of course, to the Church of Knowledge and Books. There was no sign of anyone sent by Dolores. Fınd the newest release on Novᴇl_Fire(.)net

This was exactly what Jenkins had anticipated. In fact, if the princess's convoy had also been there, he would have suspected something was amiss. There was no reason for them to expose their relationship.

As the capital of one of the three great kingdoms, Ruen was naturally a major diocese. Unlike the church in Spa Town, which relied on traditional methods of communication, the Ruen church possessed a device for long-distance, real-time conversation. It was a stone basin carved from obsidian, its rim etched with twelve azure runes that Jenkins could not identify.

It was a Series B Extraordinary item, designated B-10-5-9336 and named [The Delusion Basin]. Its original function was not communication; instead, it allowed anyone who submerged their head in the basin's water to see any scene they could conjure in their mind. It was a rather pointless recreational artifact.

However, thirty years ago during the containment of a Mysterious Object, a batch of low-risk, poorly secured Series B items, including [The Delusion Basin], was affected by the object's power. While assessing the damage afterward, the church discovered the basin had lost its ability to display imagined scenes but had gained a new one: it could now show the person someone was thinking of.

The records were vague as to whether "person" included the deceased, but this was of no concern to Jenkins. The people he wanted to see were all very much alive.

"So, what do I look like to you all right now?"

Jenkins asked Papa Oliver. Although his entire head was underwater, he could speak without impediment. He did, however, feel a strange sense of pressure.

"To us, it looks like your head has swollen to three times its normal size and is floating in mid-air," Papa Oliver replied. "It's surrounded by shimmering, translucent ripples of water. Damn it, I should have brought a camera. A sight is a rare spectacle."

Papa Oliver said, joking. He was also relieved that they had managed to contact Jenkins so easily.

The convenience of B-10-5-9336, [The Delusion Basin], was undeniable, but the item placed an enormous mental strain on its user. In fact, if Jenkins didn't simultaneously hold the titles of Saint Son and Level 4 Enchanter, the Church would never have permitted him to even attempt using it.

Although Jenkins felt no adverse effects while using the item, it was impossible for him to move [The Delusion Basin] back to the Nolan diocese. This wasn't because the Ruen diocese objected, but because the artifact was completely fused with the stalactites inside the cave.

To be more precise, when Ruen's largest containment site for supernatural items was established, B-10-5-9336, [The Delusion Basin], was already present. The basin and the cave were one and the same. No one knew what would happen if they removed it from the top of the broken stalagmite pillar it rested on, but tests and divinations all suggested it would completely lose its supernatural properties.
