Lord of The Mysterious Realms Chapter 1073

Julia cleared her throat at the perfect moment, and Dolores instinctively cut herself off. Jenkins was immensely grateful the maid had intervened; he had a feeling that if Dolores had finished her sentence, things would have become incredibly awkward for everyone.

The third princess was, of course, a little displeased, but when she met her tutor's stern gaze, she timidly lowered her head and pretended nothing had happened.

The young girl's passionate heart was filled with a yearning for romance. Though Dolores might not have fully understood what love was, it didn't stop her from doing something "bold."

Sixteen was an age of innocent romanticism. Even if Dolores was sometimes a bit too mature for her years, she was still just a girl. A little recklessness was understandable, in Jenkins's view.

The cat, however, deemed Jenkins grievously sinful.

Dolores had recently been busy with the formation of a new department. Coincidentally, Jenkins needed to write a proposal for the church's bank, so he had entrusted the entire matter to her.

She seemed quite happy about it, which put Jenkins at ease. He had originally worried that such a troublesome task would annoy her.

"Are you really sure you want to get involved with that cloak fragment? We both know it's not just a Cursed Item—it's very likely connected to a Sovereign."

Jenkins had barely materialized when he heard Alexia's words.

"Please, don't worry. I know my limits. Besides, it's inside the church. Miss Bevanna might even be right beside me. Even if I wanted to do something, I wouldn't be able to."

"That's good, then..."

With that, she hopped out of her chair and sat down next to Jenkins on the sofa. Alexia wasn't particularly tall; when they first met at the hospital, Jenkins had even mistaken her for an underage girl.

"I feel like you're thinking something..."

"Extremely impolite."

Jenkins finished the sentence for her, then reached out and took her hand. A blush crept onto her cheeks, and she willingly scooted closer.

"I can handle myself. While things in Nolan can be complicated and troublesome, nothing completely unexpected has happened so far. But what about you, Alexia? Did you find what you were looking for on the second floor of the tower?"

"No. I knew those materials wouldn't be so easy for me to obtain."

Alexia spoke in a low voice, tilting her head slightly to rest it on Jenkins's shoulder. The firelight merged their shadows into one, casting them onto the opposite wall. As the flames flickered, their silhouette swayed gently. The latest_epɪ_sodes are on_the N0velFire.ɴet

After a moment of silence, Alexia spoke again.

"Failing to find the information I wanted was expected, but the trip wasn't without its rewards. Jenkins, I don't think I'll have to wait ten years. I can ascend to demigod before the end of this year."

"What? A demigod? Weren't you already..."

Jenkins stopped mid-sentence, realizing that although he had considered Alexia a demigod for a long time, she had only glimpsed the path to that level before he left Nolan. When that azure cube had formed, she had only just taken her first step.

Jenkins was genuinely happy for his friend.

"Yes. You helped me find the right path, and now I've taken the first step on it."

She held out her hand, and the azure cube, dancing with mathematical symbols and ancient runes, materialized above her palm. It rotated slowly, looking far more solid and magnificent than the last time he had seen it.

Jenkins murmured the word. After a moment of hesitation, he brought up the insurance merchant he had failed to mention earlier. He wasn't asking for advice on whether he should cooperate, but rather sharing the two paths he had learned about.

He had long understood that Alexia had no desire to become an ordinary demigod; the petite woman's ambitions were no smaller than his own.

"Shoulder the world's sins? Sin Coins?"

Though Alexia knew of Sin Coins, she was clearly unaware of their true significance. Her look of surprise was rare, but still incredibly charming.

"Is this really the hope for mortals to ascend to godhood? It's just so..."

She couldn't find the right words, so she simply let the thought hang. Jenkins understood what she meant. The second path, while difficult, was at least clear. He just couldn't comprehend how those deranged, anti-human Cursed Items could also achieve divinity.

He knew Alexia wouldn't choose that second path. Her goal was clear, and she would never give up on her chosen direction, at least not until she had failed.

The two exchanged a few more sweet nothings, and seeing that it was getting late, Jenkins prepared to leave. But before he did, Alexia invited him to a party in Ruen on Saturday night, explaining that she needed a male companion.

"I can make it. Hmm? What kind of ball is it? I thought you disliked social gatherings as much as I do."

Jenkins didn't refuse. If Hathaway and Briny deserved his attention, then so did Alexia.

"Dolores is arranging it. She needs to introduce the members of her faction now that she's forming a new department for the kingdom. It's boring, but it's the right move."

"No problem," he promised with a smile. "I'll be there on time." Then, he dissolved into motes of light and vanished into the air.

(Chocolate is running...)

The next day was Wednesday. Having already agreed to observe the borrowed Shard of Death's Cloak at the church, Jenkins stopped by the antique shop to let Papa Oliver know before heading straight there.

Before he left, his mentor seemed quite worried that Jenkins might do something dangerous, repeatedly warning him not to be as curious as a cat.

But Jenkins didn't think he would do anything risky. After all, he would be inside the church; there couldn't possibly be any danger.

The Gravedigger squad escorting the Cursed Item was scheduled to arrive around ten o'clock. Jenkins had some time to wait, so he let his cat wander around the church while he went to the Secret Trace Library behind the Hall of All Things to look up information on angels.

It was amusing, really. In traditional human culture and stories, angels held a position of immense importance. They were the messengers of the gods, the embodiment of sanctity and piety.

Yet in the world of Enchanters, angels were almost never mentioned. To this day, Jenkins had never encountered a single ritual or ability related to them.
