Chapter 68: Chapter 68

"Why are you here?"

Delilah looked away from him and replied,

"Don't worry. I didn't come here to beg you again to let me stay with you."

She tried to pass him but he grabbed her arm.

"Where are you going?"

She pushed his hand. "You should not worry about it."

He narrowed his eyes. "Where are you coming from?"

"I think you are feeling infuriated to see me alive, right?" She said and turned to him.

"What about killing me now?"

He raised a brow and came close to her.

"Who gave you this sudden courage?" He asked.

Delilah could see amusement in his eyes.

She was stunned. She thought he would have tried to kill her but he looked okay now.

What happened to him?

"Someone who really knows many things about you."

His eyes turned orange. Delilah gulped.

'Would he kill me?'

"That wizard! He is really getting on my nerves. At first, he sent you here and then he tried to do the same again?"

Delilah was shocked. 'Didn't he accuse me of being Maverick's woman? Then why is he now saying it?'

"You have already abandoned me, now I have to leave."

"I told you to get out of my forest too."

"I am going to do it right now."

"No, not from here. Go back to your pack."

Delilah frowned at him. "To my pack?"

She tried to do that but somehow she came back here again.

"For what? To sell my body to other men? Or do you think I will go back to your brother if I go to the village since you have already checked the scent on the necklace?"

He grabbed her jaw. "Stop talking like that."

She scoffed at him. "I am not afraid of you anymore, Everett. If you want to kill me then kill me. I will not beg you to let me go. You think of me as a traitor anyway."

He let go of her jaw. His eyes turned back to black. He looked away from her and said,

"You can't go to the village."

"Why?"

"It's not safe for you."

"Don't make me laugh. Why are you even thinking about my safety? You said you don't like me, right? Then you should not be with me."

She walked past him and started to head forward. But suddenly she felt a hit on her neck and she saw darkness all around her.

Everett stared at Delilah, who had just fainted. He lifted her in his arms and walked to his house.

He went back to his house and went to his bedroom.

He laid her on the bed and stared at her for a while.

He got to know about Lily last night. Conor told him that Lily was the real traitor. He even caught two other men from the village who were working for Maverick.

Everett shifted last night and roamed around the forest angrily.

He saw Delilah resting under a tree but did not get close to her.

He was mad at himself for hurting her. Other people were right, he was a beast. He did not deserve to be with anyone.

He hurt her and broke her heart. He did not deserve her.

So he let her go free and came back to his house.

However, when he saw Delilah tonight, he could not stop himself from thinking of living with her.

He wanted to stay with her, only with her.

He sat on the edge of the bed. He pushed a hair strand from her face. His knuckles stroked her cheeks.

He brushed his thumb over her lips.

"I am sorry for not trusting you." He whispered and pressed his lips over her lips.

The next morning,

Delilah woke up and looked around. She sat up instantly.

"What am I doing here?" She asked herself as she thought about last night.

Her eyes fell on herself. Her body was wrapped around a quilt.

She pushed the quilt and gasped.

She was in Everett's shirt. She was not wearing anything inside the shirt!

"What is happening?"

She said and put her palms over her mouth. She slowly got down from the bed and tried to feel if she felt anything down there.

But she felt relieved. She did not feel anything strange, which meant nothing happened between her and Everett without her knowing.

She blushed when she thought that Everett had changed her clothes and saw her naked.

She bit her lips. She took out a dress and ran to the bathroom.

She came out after a shower. She went downstairs and saw the house was empty.

"It's good. I can leave now."

She said but glanced at the table. She could see fruits on the table.

'Did he cut fruits for me?'

She could not waste time eating. She had to leave before Everett came back to the house.

She went out of the house and walked towards the way to the village.

She walked fast and reached the village. She went to the hospital. Everyone thought she came back to work. But she went there for a reason.

"Excuse me, where is Doctor Lily?" She asked a nurse.

"Where were you yesterday? Didn't you join the hospital meeting?"

"Meeting?"

"I guess you were absent. Doctor Lily is no more."

"WHAT?"

"Yeah. Doctor Conor said she went to the town but something happened and she was killed by the rogues."

Delilah could not believe it. 'Killed by the rogues?'

She shook her head.

"Doctor Conor said that?"

"Yes. That's what he said. I was also there at the meeting."

"Okay."

Delilah sighed. She looked around and thought about whom to ask now.

She came to ask Lily why she did that? Why did she lie to Conor and destroy her life? What did she do to her that she had to lie?

Abruptly a question came up in Delilah's mind.

"Was she one of Maverick's people?" She whispered to herself.

She did not go to meet Conor. Because how could she meet him? He also did not believe her.

She could not expect from others when the man she loved distrusted her.

She walked out of the hospital and started to walk to the other side. She could not understand why people were looking at her today.

She avoided others' gazes but then she realized.

She touched her neck and mumbled, "My necklace! Where is my necklace?"

She felt off guard.

Before she met Everett, she always lived without the necklace but after wearing it she started to feel confident about herself. Because no one paid any attention to her after that.

But now everyone was looking at her. Male wolves were looking at her like hungry wolves.

She felt trembling inside her.

'Did he put off my necklace last night? Why? Did he want to take it back?'

She wanted to go and ask Everett. She walked for a while and was about to enter the forest side when she heard someone's scream.

"THERE SHE IS."

A pair of hands grabbed her arms.

She was about to scream but before that, they pushed a cloth into her mouth and turned her around.

In a few seconds, a royal carriage came towards them.

Delilah's eyes widened. She shook her head but they pushed her inside the carriage.

Delilah felt pain in her waist when they pushed her.

She shook her head continuously and tried to scream loudly. Only whining could be heard.

"Why are you even trying to scream? Where you are going is somewhere every woman wants to be."

Delilah narrowed her eyes. What was the man saying? Every woman wanted to be there. Where?

Those men chuckled at her reaction.

The carriage was big so she could move aside when the carriage started to move.

She glanced at the men and glimpsed at their uniforms. They looked like guards of the palace.

Their uniforms had gold badges.

Delilah looked outside to see whether she could ask for help from people.

Those men were clever enough.

"Don't try to do something that will take your life instantly." One of them said.

Delilah lowered her head and thought about how to run away from there.

The carriage stopped moving when it was dark in the sky.

Those men got down from the carriage and pulled her down forcibly.

They united her mouth and pulled her with them and took her inside the palace.

Delilah did not want to go so they pushed her. She fell to the ground and felt a cramp on her knees.

She hissed in pain. She could guess who did all those things. It was Maverick for sure.

She wanted to shout and asked for help from Everett's Grandma.

But before she could let out a scream she saw the queen was coming downstairs.

Delilah stood up slowly and looked at her.

"M-My Queen, they took me here forcibly. Please tell them to send me back." Delilah could not complain about the crown prince to his mother. She might not believe her.

The queen glanced at her and then looked behind her.

Those men bowed to her and said,

"My Queen, we have taken her here as you ordered us."
