Chapter 93: Chapter 93
We didn’t exactly hold hands on the way back to the pack house, but walked close, our knuckles brushing with almost every step. I felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders; knowing where Aiden stood made it a little easier. The Alpha trusted me enough to ask me anything else about Zain.
I had been itching to know about Ria, though and why the beta accompanied him to this side of the woods. There was a mere hunch in my mind that she might be the one to drag him here. My stomach churned at that, palm feeling wet and clammy as I gripped onto the dress.
Ria found her mate, a Pack Alpha no less, but instead of following that, she was busy chasing Aiden. I firmly believed that the beta would let go of her obsession and stop meddling between us, but apparently, that’s too much to ask.
As if reading the thoughts going in my head, Aiden suddenly stopped. He took my hand in his, not caring that we attracted some attention. Taking a deep breath, he started explaining the reason behind his sudden appearance.
“I am sorry for letting her drag me along.” He shamefully admitted, voice lowering and eyes cast on the floor. “I thought Ria changed and would stop her childish acts but not.”
I let out a sigh, reassuring him that I was fine and to stop talking about it. Giving him a smile, I turned around and strode towards the packhouse. In the back of my mind, I was still irritated by Ria and wanted to deal with her on my own.
“This is where I leave you.” Aiden’s rough voice echoed in my ears as we stood in front of the main door. My eyes roamed around, not believing that we had covered such a wide distance so soon.
“Do you have to go?!” I blurted out loudly, completely flustered and dizzy, hearing my heartbeat far too loudly in my ears, feeling it reverberating against my chest. My cheeks heated up at his brow, quirking up in amusement.
The urge to spend more time with the Alpha, walk more miles never fazed me before, but that’s all I could think of now.
The Alpha turned his body towards me, his lips twisting. “Believe me, I have no desire to leave, but my duties are calling to me. We will see each other during lunch anyway.”
“I guess so,” I hummed, swallowing around a lump and shuffling my feet and kicking at the tiny pebbles. Why this feels like the end of a first date, I didn’t know. My heart was racing, my mouth going dry.
Tentative fingertips caressed along the curve of my jaw. The Alpha hesitated only for a moment as if giving me an out before leaning in and pressing his lips to my cheek. It’s chaste but lingering nonetheless, my eyes going wide.
Aiden remained close, his breath hot when he slowly pulled away. “I will see you soon, baby.”

The sun filtered through the windows, illuminating the dense atmosphere and particles dancing through it. A maid rushed in my direction, bowing down before handing me a letter. Confused lines marred my face, and when I asked her about it, she said an Alpha guest gave it. My hands tightened around the envelope, figuring out the person behind.
Finding an empty room proved to be a task with unmated omegas and pups running free. I perched on the chair in the study room not before pushing the door shut. Not locking it, but enough to allow me some much-needed privacy.
Hi Rose,
By the time you find this letter, I will have already left your pack. To say I am embarrassed by my actions would be an understatement. Seeing you with Aiden today made me realise how stupid I have acted all this time. Trust me when I say this. I sincerely thought that you had been waiting for me all this time.
When we first had lunch in the packhouse, I judged your relationship with Aiden because he did not know your allergies. How can a man you like not care about such things? My anger was only fuelled when I met Ria. She told me that Aiden hated omegas and did not care a least bit about you. That made me determined to take you away, even more, hoping that we can be happy together.
I am a fool for trusting her words and cornering you today. Ria made me believe I still had chance. You should be careful of that woman, Rose, because a grown Alpha like me fell into her trap. She did not give up even after seeing you both together and tried to rope me in another of her twisted plans. Like you said, it is better for me to get out of here and make things easier for both of us.
I still remember the first time we met and will keep on thanking the goddess for that. Only if I had not been a fool things would have turned better for us. Sorry again for hurting you.
You know I am not good with words, but I hope this letter will be a start for us to put the differences behind. I am happy that you found true love, Rose.
Till we meet again,
Z

Folding the letter, I let out a loud breath, blinking back the tears. It felt like a closure I needed, my chest easing and shoulders dropping. The parts about Ria did make my teeth grit in frustration. Why was she doing these things?
I tucked the envelope in my pockets before standing up, determined to confront her. Once Aiden gets hold of this, maybe the Alpha will reprimand her enough to make her stay away.
Walking out of the room, I instantly spotted Ellen making her way towards me, her face brightening for a quick second. I looked around and saw the omegas bowing down to them while eyeing her with acute interest. The back of my neck prickled at that, watching Ellen.
She did appear worn out, her bangs sticking in directions and a purplish hue under her eyes. Did she travel all night? I thought to myself, eyes flickering towards the clock on the wall.
“Hello, Luna.” The omega trainer bowed down.
“Alpha Caden was looking for you.” A teenager from the group spoke up, her eyes narrowing accusingly. From what I know, the Alpha trainer had yet to find his mate, so these unmated ones fawned over him. I could see why.
“What could he possibly want to do with you?”
“Right!” Another one chirped.
Ellen gritted her teeth. “Guess you should have asked him that.”
They snickered and started murmuring among themselves. My mouth twisted at that, sudden rage taking over my body as they were indirectly making fun of Ellen.
“Don’t your girls have something better to do? If not, I can always ask Beth to give extra duties.”
“No, Luna! We are fine.” They all turned their backs to us and huddled together. I might be on their hate list, but I did not care.
“Ellen!” I breathed, concern etched in my voice, hands reaching out to grip her. “Are you alright? It would be best if you sat down. I will ask Beth to make something for you.”
The omega trained huffed, shaking her head and looking around. “We should talk. Alone.”
“Let’s go inside then.”
I dragged her to the study room and shut the door behind us, my back resting against the oak. My stomach was in knots, toes curling around while watching the omega catch up her breath. Why was she all alone? Where was the healer wolf? I had so many questions for her but bit on my tongue.
“So I met the healer wolf and told her your situation, but she does not believe me,” The trainer let out a huge sigh. “She thinks it’s some trap to lure her to this pack. Trust me, I tried to persuade her, but she will not leave with me.”
I made a disgruntled sound in the back of my throat, rubbing a hand over my face before meeting her eyes. “What are we supposed to do now, Ellen?”
The trainer swallowed audibly, straightening her back. “I think you should come with me to see her.”
