Chapter 115: Chapter 115
Those words kept ringing in my ears as I swiftly turned around. An omega was abducted. A chill ran down my spine as I realised the graveness of the situation. If they were ready to break in and take our pack members, the war was not far away.
What now? The question kept echoing, my hand protectively wrapping Arnold in my tummy. How in the world was I going to protect our pup during this? No doubt the news of a new pup, especially an Alphas child, will bring joy to the people, but I still had to tell Aiden about it.
Shaking my head, I focused on my erratic breathing, sweat droplets dripping down the forehead. I found skidding to a halt in front of the wooden door, a gush of dirt flying into the air as I almost drifted. A few candles lit in the windows dressed the walls on both sides, illuminating stretched silhouettes dancing along the walls while casting an eerie glow around.
Ever since Beth gave me the news of abduction, I couldn’t sit still. Aiden needed to know that it was urgent and work on getting her back. If the war breaks out, we have to be prepared and ensure that the pack members are safe and protected.
I could hear indistinct chattering coming from the other side of the door, and I pressed my shaking, clammy hand to the wooden slab, my mind trying to keep balanced before I was to even think about pushing it open.
My breathing was still heavy, and my body was unbalanced from the running. The large stone table in the middle of the enormous room immediately caught my eye as I pushed the door open. All their eyes pierced me in the same instant the second I stepped inside.
“Miss Rose!” The guards bowed down to me, their voices echoing around.
“You’re not allowed in here,” A voice piped from the table, all the other six heads glaring at the Alpha accusingly.
It’s a meeting room. Aiden was at the head of the table, along with a few members from the council and our pack. All Alphas.
I bit the inside of my cheek to hold back any words against the council member; jaw clenched tight.
“That is my wife, your future Luna. Mind your tongue, Kyle.” Aiden said with a low growl, his eyes narrowed into slits at the man. The booming voice was enough for Kyle to slowly nod his head, cheeks turning bright red.
“I apologise, Miss Rose.”
I hummed, turning towards Aiden, my hair clinging to the forehead and face flushed. “Sorry to intrude, but I need to speak with the Pack Alpha.”
“What’s wrong?” Aiden asked, his tone laced with confusion and worry. I almost slumped in my position and released the clenched fists in a sudden state of relaxation as his voice washed over me.
“I-I…” My breathing quickened, vision blurring all of a sudden. The Alpha ushered me to sit down; his expression softened as he attempted to pull me down onto the chair.
“There’s been a kidnapping within our borders!” My voice was shaky and sounded out of breath as I yelled the news out loud. “Beth told me all about it.” I wasn’t sure how to announce it to them all, but the deed was now done with, the words spoken from my tongue with shaky breathing after every word.
They all stopped what they were doing and looked between each other, Aiden’s shoulders dropping in defeat. The air within the room felt like it was being vacuumed out, my breathing becoming unstable once again.
“I heard about it too. We are trying to locate the omega, so you should not let it worry you too much.”
“But….”
Aiden placed a hand on mine, his palm warm and almost encompassing mine. He raised his head, our eyes clashing together as the Alpha stared at me. “I know this is tough, but please trust me, Rose. We are doing everything we can to locate her, so be assured that I will find her.”
The honesty and rawness in his voice convinced me, not that I had any doubts about him to begin with. Slowly nodding my head, I stood up, knees feeling wobbly. He pressed a chaste kiss on my forehead, my eyes fluttering shut at that. The heaviness in my chest slowly dissipated, only a little.
Pulling back, he thumbed on my cheek, the tenderness of his action almost making me lax in his hold. Aiden swiped his tongue over the bottom lip, “Please go straight to our cabin. I don’t want you to wander anywhere outside. We will be asking the pack members to cooperate and do the same during these trying times. Alright?”
“Yes, Alpha.” I sighed. “Please take care.”

Liam steadied towards the door when I was on the way out when an idea struck me. The beta bowed down and took a step back, probably curious about my presence in meeting room.
“Good—”
“Liam”, I quickly cut him off, my back straightening. “Please, can you do me a favour?”
He looked hesitant for a second, looking around at the guards before slowly nodding. “What is it, Rose?”
“I am sure you must know where Aiden’s mother is right. So please tell me her location.”
He sharply inhaled, eyes widening before leaning forward. “R-Rose, that’s crazy! I don’t think you should be meeting her. At least not when there’s a chance she will do something to get to Aiden.”
“I only want to talk.”
“Does Aiden know about this?”
“No. He will never allow it besides my mate is busy with council members.”
Liam spluttered at that, his mouth parting with a gasp. “H-He told you about you two being mates?”
“You knew?!” I glared at him. “Wait, how long have you known?”
The beta dared to appear embarrassed, ducking his head and avoiding my eyes. “For a while now. I am sorry, but Aiden asked me to keep it a secret.”
Having no other option, I feigned a wounded sound, digging my nails into my palms to produce tears. It worked. My lips wobbled as I stared at Liam. “How could you do this to me? I thought we had a connection. You were like a brother I never had and….” I wheezed in between for a dramatic effect, looking away.
“R-Rose…I am so sorry, trust me, I would have told you sooner….”
“You truly hurt me.”
Liam winced. “Please forgive me. What should I do to make you feel better?”
Wiping the tears, I looked up at him, concealing a grin tugging on my lips. That worked. Huh! I accepted the tissue he handed and dabbed at my tears before slowly slipping my request.
“Aiden is going to kill me for this….” The beta murmured as he handed me the address card. “If you are not back in an hour, I will send all our guards to that place. Got it?”
“Yes!” I beamed while pocketing the card. “Now, it’s your duty to keep Aiden inside for an hour. I will directly go back to our cabin, okay?”
Liam huffed. “Fine!”

I was escorted inside by the two guards who refused to leave my side. My eyes couldn’t stop taking in the carpeted floors, antique furniture, chandeliers and exquisite paintings. They were already rich and seemed to have a lot of guards. Why did they want to attack us?
“The Luna will see you now.”
“Thank you.”
I pushed the door in and took a hesitant step inside, hands falling by my side. A sharp snicker almost made me jump in my spot, head-turning around. My body froze, taking in a tall, rugged Alpha with a long scar on his cheek approaching me.
“Why do you want to see our Luna?!”
Everything about this man screamed fear and intimidation. Still, I stood my ground, raising my chin in defiance. “It’s a personal business like I already mentioned.”
“Still not good enough reason for us to let her close to you.”
“Be nice, Reece.”
The hair on the back of my neck stood up at that voice, almost distinctly familiar, but I couldn’t place it. Loud footsteps rattled against the floor, and I caught a woman in a hat descending the stairs. Her entire face was hidden due to the large black hat.
Reece fell back into his chair defeated and shook his head in irritation, his chin resting on his palm as he huffed with impatience. I felt the heat practically radiate off from him, his eyes sending sharp, aggressive daggers in my direction. I sent the same glance back to the man.
“Sorry about Reece. He is not very friendly with strangers. You must be Rose. Hello!” The Luna said, finally raising her head, and I staggered back, almost hitting the wall behind me in the process.
A loud gasp flew out of me.
“It’s you!”
The Luna confusedly stared back. “Do you know me?”
“Y-Y-Yes! I do! You are the person who saved my life.”
