Chapter 41: Chapter 41
It was shining brightly for a moment. But the sky darkened and the scent of the air changed. The rain will pour down soon. Thus, Ryan didn’t forget to bring her umbrella before going out of the house.
Just like her, Kyle went out with an umbrella too.
Light shower blessed the land.
Pit-a-pat.
Pit-a-pat.
Kyle looked at Ryan from afar and remembered the first time they met each other. It was also raining that day.
He took a sharp breath before Kyle called the lady.
“Ryan!”
However, the absent-minded lady didn’t look back.
Thinking that his voice wasn’t enough for Ryan to hear, Kyle shouted again.
“Ryan!”
Oddly, Ryan’s head only looked at her North.
“But the rain is not that heavy,” Kyle murmured. He decided to run towards her while holding his umbrella.
When he reached her side, he called her, “Hey.”
Finally, he caught her attention.
“Oh, hi, Kyle,” Ryan responded.
“What’s wrong? You are red.”
Ryan only blinked her eyes.
It’s not that she didn’t hear Kyle again. She was still in dilemma after hearing Sylvester’s confession this morning.
Ryan held her burning cheeks and sighed.
“I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know,” she mumbled. Ryan sighed for the second time and walked forward while holding her yellow umbrella.
Confused, Kyle only looked at her back and went right on her tail.
“Are you sick?”
“I am not. “Don’t worry,” she said.
“Do I really sound like I worry about you?” Kyle asked shyly while blushing.
“Yes. You always worry about other people. Maybe you didn’t notice it but among the six of us, you are the sincerest person.”
Kyle glanced at her and whispered, “But I worried and cared for you the most.”
Ryan didn’t hear him because the sound of the falling rain was louder than Kyle’s voice.
Catching up to her, Kyle stood next to Ryan and spoke.
“I thought your class today would start at 11 am. I was planning to go to school with you. So, when I saw you went out, I chased after you.”
“Ahhh, really?” Ryan asked and chuckled a little.
Kyle pouted as he complained, “Are you not happy to go to school with me?”
“Not like that, Kyle. I was happy to walk with you. It’s just that I am not in my right mind today. I am sorry.”
“Is that so? What are you thinking so hard about?”
Instead of answering, Ryan said, “Kyle, can I ask you something?”
Kyle could tell that something was weighing on Ryan’s heart. Therefore, he said, “Sure. What is it?”
“What will you feel if someone confesses to you all of a sudden?”
Kyle stopped walking.
Ryan continued pacing North, not knowing that Kyle wasn’t following her anymore.
“No one confessed to me before so when…” Ryan added but paused when she realized that she was talking to no one. She looked back and saw Kyle standing from a great distance.
“You wanted to know how it feels when someone confesses to you. Is that your question, Ryan?”
‘I probably look weird asking this question,’ Ryan thought so she told Kyle that it was nothing.
“Forget it. I was watching too many romantic dramas nowadays that’s why I thought that.”
She looked up and watched how the rain falls. Ryan hoped that the rain would let her forget Sylvester’s confession.
‘Rain?’
“Ahh! Kyle! Didn’t we meet each other when it was raining?” she asked.
Kyle didn’t answer and only smiled.
“Did you know that when I gave you my umbrella and went back home, my mom nagged me a lot. She got the umbrella from winning the lottery. So, when you gave it back to me, Mom was so happy. It’s not that I am blaming you, okay? I am just happy that we…”
“Ryan, there’s something I need to tell you.”
“Huh?”
Kyle walked closer to her. As he stood in front of her, Ryan lifted her head. The height difference looks vivid now that they stood next to each other.
“What is it?” Ryan asked.
With a determined expression, Kyle was ready to tell everything.
“Ryan. I l…”
Boom! Boom!
Kyle said something but because of the thunder, Ryan didn’t hear it.
“Oh my god! That was wild thunder! What if the lightning strikes our umbrella?” Ryan said with concern.
“You didn’t hear what I said?” asked Kyle.
“Ohh, sorry. The thunder was so loud. What is it again?”
Kyle sight. Then he repeated, “I li….”
A car passed by, and the wheels went into a fuddle of water on the concrete road. The dirty water splashed onto Kyle’s clothes.
“What the!” Ryan gasped after seeing Kyle drenched in dirty water.
Blinking swiftly, Kyle could see God’s message. The heaven was telling him to stop what he was about to do. But he doesn’t want to give up.
“What a piece of sh*t!” Ryan complained while looking at the car. “It’s such a waste that I didn’t see the car’s plate number. Argh! Kyle, you should go back. Go back and change your clothes.”
“…”
“Hurry!”
“…”
Ryan looked at her wristwatch and added, “You still have a lot of time. Change your clothes and…”
“I LIKE YOU!”
“…”
Ryan couldn’t close her mouth after hearing Kyle’s shout.
The words were clear. But the truth was blurry to Ryan.
“What did you say?” Ryan asked.
Kyle looked at her with his solemn sharp eyes. Even if the sky was dim, Ryan could see his sharp eyes, pointed nose, and heart-shaped lips. She was used to seeing Kyle’s handsome face. But today, he looks more handsome even though he was drenched with dirty water.
“If you can’t hear me, then I had to say it one more time,” Kyle said.
He walked closer to Ryan, pulled her closer and put his lips near to her ear.
“I like you,” Kyle whispered.
Ryan tilted her head and met Kyle’s deep gaze that melted her soul. They looked at each other for quite a long time, before Kyle moved backward and turned his back against her.
He didn’t say a thing until he ran back to the boarding house to change his clothes.
Left alone, Ryan blinked.
“Is this… a prank?”
She looked around to find a candid camera. But she found nothing.
This is the reality.
Two men confessed to her on the same day.
Will it end with just two confessions?
“Ryan! Hey!”
Ryan looked to her left and saw Terban through the window of his car.
“I’ll take you to the school. Hop in!” Terban said while pointing to the passenger seat.
