Chapter 37: Chapter 37

Ryan’s POV

I was in such a hurry that I entered the wrong room.

Yes. I accidentally invaded my enemy’s territory.

‘I’m gonna die if Mr. Negative sees me.’

However, all plans to escape were futile. It is because I saw the owner of this room lying on his bed while looking at me with his rounded eyes.

‘He caught me. Damn it!’

“I c-can explain!” I spoke. “I didn’t mean to come here! I…”

[“Terban? Are you there? Yohoo~”]

My eyes went to the phone on the study table. It seems like he was talking to someone through the phone in speaker mode.

But that’s not the deal.

It was the name that I heard which put me on halt.

‘Terban?’

[“Terban! Dude!”]

I heard it right. The other person from the other line called Mr. Negative as “Terban.”

He sat up without breaking his gaze at me. He grabbed his phone and ended the call.

Staring at him reminded me of all the reasons why I decided to enroll in this university and why I endured living with men under the same roof. It was to find my old friend named Terban Myers.

I lived here with this guy in front of me. However, I never had a chance to know his name. Not until now.

“Terban. Your name is… Terban?”

‘Is he really the boy I was looking for?’

If he is, that would be so hilarious. Who would have thought that I was searching for someone who lives with me under the same roof!?

“Damn it,” he scoffed. “I tried so hard to tell this to you at a good time. But it came to this. Hey, we’ve been staying in the same house for many days. How come you only heard my name just now?.”

He pouted his lips and added.

“I thought… you already forgot me.”

‘It’s confirmed. He is my childhood friend, Terban.’

“YOU IDIOT! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME BEFORE?!” I asked, feeling the sob crawling up to my throat.

I was looking damn forward to our next meeting! And yet, Terban hid from me for a long time? Hah!

“I didn’t know that you are ‘that Ryan’. Our beginning wasn’t great,” he said in a low tone. He tried to meet my eyes, but his gaze went here and there. “When I learned the truth, that you changed your surname, I tried to be kind to you. Didn’t you notice it?”

Now I understand why he suddenly changed these past few days.

"Anyway,” he mumbled, clearing his throat. "Long time no see, Ryan."

For the first time, Terban gave me a sweet smile. A kind of smile that reminded me of our days in the past.

‘It is really Terban, my first love.’

I didn’t have time to greet him back because he approached me quickly and hugged me tightly.

In his arms, I could hear the loud beating of his heart, as well as mine.

“Thank you for fulfilling your promise and coming here,” he murmured. “I m-m-m-m-miss you.”

‘He stuttered a lot. Geez~’

I raised my hands and hugged him back.

It was so embarrassing to recall the time we used to fight here in the boarding house. But now, I am willing to put all his evilness in the past.

‘I should.’

“But Ryan,” he whispered as he pulled his arms away and looked at me in a close gap. “Did you come from school?”

Terban gently pushed me away.

With a frown, he asked, “Did you take a bath? You smell like sweat. Take a bath. You shouldn’t bring germs into my room.”

If I didn’t know him, I might have smacked his head. But now, I only laughed.

“What a clean freak. Even after knowing me, you treat me like germs,” I complained.

“N-Not that. B-But... cleaning is necessary.”

It was awkward that we are trying to accept each other’s flaws just because we are childhood friends. But I am willing to try and understand this b*stard.

“Also,” he said. “I think we should…”

My phone rang.

‘What a timing!’

“I am sorry. Continue.”

“No,” he said. “Pick up the call first.”

“No. This is not important. Speak.”

“Don’t be stubborn. Hurry and pick up the call!” He turned his head away and added, “We have many times together. Don’t worry.”

His words made my heart skip a beat.

‘That’s right. We are living under the same roof. We can take our time.’

Tucking my hair behind my ear, I answered, “Okay.”

Then I grabbed my phone from my wallet. When I checked who was calling, my eyes widened.

“It’s Mom!”

I didn’t waste time and picked up the call.

“Hello, Mom. Why? I am not in the boarding house,” I lied. “T-There’s a nearby coffee shop here. JRL coffee shop. Let’s meet there instead. Y-Yes.”

After telling my parents to meet me in the shop, I put my phone back in my pocket and looked at Terban.

“Sorry, I need to go now. If I don’t, I am afraid that my parents will go back to the boarding house again,” I said.

“It’s okay. Go and meet them now. I don’t want to act as Sylvester’s boyfriend anymore. Whenever I recall that night, I feel like killing that bastard. So go.”

I saw him hugging himself as if he was so disgusted and then I laughed.

“I am really sorry,” I said.

“Don’t mind me. Just go. Okay?” He said and smiled sweetly.

I felt better seeing his smile.

I couldn’t believe that the man, who used to annoy me before, would make me feel such relief.

“Then, see you!”

I walked outside his room. When I closed the door, I was shocked to see Sylvester standing at the side with his head hanging low.

“S-Sylvester?”

I looked at his hand. He wasn’t holding a worm anymore.

“Are you still going to tease me about…”

I couldn’t finish what I was about to say because Sylvester walked away. He left me without turning his head and meeting my eyes.

‘Why does he look so angry?’
