Chapter 33: Chapter 33

Ryan finished cooking , yet no one among her five dorm-mates went down to join her for dinner.

“Aren’t they going to eat?”

Wondering why, Ryan was forced to visit each of them.

Chaylen was inside his room. He was sitting in front of his study desk while in deep thoughts.

“What’s happening to me?” he asked himself while recalling the time his heart beat so fast because of Ryan. “That is definitely not me,” he added, rubbing his lips.

An image appeared in his imagination which pulled the corner of his lips for a smirk.

“I just noticed that her lips look so soft,” he chuckled huskily.

It took him seconds before he snapped out and pulled the smile away  from his lips.

“My lust made me feel giddy and gave me feelings of butterflies which don't make sense. Why?” he asked himself and then shook his head.

At the same time, he heard knocks from the door.

When he turned around, he heard Ryan shouting, “Hey Chaylen!”

He thought he was only hallucinating. But on the second call, he was convinced that it is the real Ryan, who’s shouting at him outside his room.

“I will open the door!” Ryan warned before she opened the door with a haste. But in Chaylen’s eyes, everything seemed in slow-mo, as if he was watching a movie.

“Aren’t you hungry? I already cooked,” Ryan said.

Chaylen stared at her without saying anything.

This is so bizarre because he was known to be annoying and talkative.

‘Why is he looking at me as if he saw a ghost?’ Ryan thought while watching Chaylen’s pale expression.

Feeling slightly awkward because of Chaylen’s gawk, Ryan broke the silence.

“If y-you w-want to eat, just go down to the kitchen.”

When Ryan closed the door, Chaylen sighed in relief and finally moved.

“Really… impossible,” he uttered in disbelief.

In the other room, Terban was sitting on his bed and looking at nothing. He only thought of one thing.

Can he harbor feelings for his childhood sweetheart and fulfill his promise to Ryan?

“She was my first love before. But now, we’re enemies,” he  said to himself.

Ryan also visited Terban’s room and shouted, “We are going to eat!”

Annoyed, Terban looked at the closed door.

“Why are you shouting when you can just knock on the door?!” he complained while walking closer to the door.

Terban planned on nagging at Ryan. But when he saw her face, he changed his mind and felt shy.

“I don’t care if you want to eat or not. But since I don’t want to be unfair, I told you that dinner is ready.”

His cheeks reddened in an instant. He misunderstood her, thinking, ‘So, she’s REALLY worried about me?’

Ryan was about to say more, but Terban closed the door.

Her jaw dropped.

“What the hell. He’s really a b*stard,” she murmured.

The third person she visited is Kyle.

Kyle was also inside his room. His head was leaning on the desk.

“No. Kyle. You can’t. You can’t feel that,” he kept on reminding himself.

All he wanted to do is to stop his feelings for Ryan as soon as possible.

Who will be happy to fall in love one-sidedly?

“Kyle! This is Ryan! Let’s go and eat!” Ryan informed in front of his room.

When Kyle heard her voice, he quickly stood up and dashed towards the door. It was not to open it for Ryan, but to warn her, “Don’t come in!”

“Huh?” Ryan uttered. She was dumbfounded.

“I will go and e-eat l-later. Yes. Later,” he said while blushing.

Although confused, Ryan replied, “Alright. Just come quick or else the food will turn cold.”

“Y-Yeah. Thanks though.”

Kyle heard her footsteps fading. His knees weakened and he sat down on the ground.

“This is so hard,” he complained.

How about the fourth person, Vincent?

Vincent was on his bed, staring at the ceiling while grinning. The reason why he’s smiling, he wanted to keep it a secret.

“Vincent, are you still up? Do you want to eat?”

Vincent heard Ryan’s voice from the door.

He sat up and said, “Come in.”

Ryan opened the door but she only peeked inside.

“Aren’t you going to eat?”

Vincent stared at her while still on his bed. He didn’t say  a thing.

Not surprised anymore at his bizarre attitude, Ryan thought that he had no plan to answer so she decided to close the door and go. But…

“I told you to come. Not to peek. Why can’t you step in?” Vincent asked as he sat up.

“I don’t want to come inside a man’s room,” Ryan said while peeking.

“But you already went inside my room before. You even saw Kyle, NAKED.”

Turning red, Ryan said, “I didn’t mean to see that! And I apologized already. ARE YOU GOING TO EAT OR NOT?!”

“If you don’t come in, I won’t eat,” he threatened.

“If you don’t eat, I am not the one who will suffer but you. Why do I need to think hard about this?”

Vincent looked at her and agreed, “That makes sense. Alright, I’ll follow you later.”

Ryan only snorted and then left.

“Is she scared that I would do something to her if she comes inside?” Vincent pondered. It took him seconds before he realized, “Ahhh. Right. It might be dangerous.” Then he grinned and lied down again.

There’s only one guy remaining. And so, Ryan stood in front of Sylvester's room. She raised her hand and was about to knock. But the door suddenly opened and Slyvester appeared.

He’s wearing black sleeveless shirt and red jogging pants.

“It is time to eat!” Slyvester shouted.

He was surprised to see Ryan standing in front of his room.

“Oh? Why are you standing in front of my room?”

Ryan took a deep breath before caressing her chest.

“I lost ten years of my life because of you. Geez.” She lifted her  head to the tall guy and said, “I was about to ask you to come and eat dinner with me. But you suddenly sprung out like a mushroom.”

“Definitely, I am more handsome than a mushroom. Hehe. Let’s eat~”

Ryan’s POV

I sat on my bed while taking a deep breath.

“I ate a lot.”

And I had to  blame Slyvester. It was so fun to eat dinner with him because he has many stories to share. So, I didn’t realize that I ate a lot.

“The other four guys didn’t come. Are they on their period?”

Men don't have ovaries, so of course that is impossible.

Well, it doesn’t matter. I have no time to worry about their bad mood day.

“Let’s just review for our next exam,” I sang while grabbing my bag. While getting my book, I realized that my card holder was missing.

“Oh? Where is my card holder?!”

I looked at every crook in my room but failed to see it. Now I know the reason why I ate a lot. It requires energy to find something that is missing.

When I couldn’t find my card holder, I took time to sit down and think about the possible reason why it went away.

Then, I recalled the time when I bumped into someone when I was walking in the wedding reception’s hall.

‘Did I drop it that time?’

“Ahhh. How can I find it there now?”

Probably, someone picked it up already.

I used the money that I got from Vincent. I don’t have any remaining cash allowance because my credit and debit card are inside my card holder.

If I ask mom’s help, they will ask me how I lost it. They might come here again, and that’s a big no.

I bit my nails while thinking of a way. Suddenly, my phone rang.

I saw an unknown number on the screen.

Sensing something from the call, I quickly picked up my phone and answered the call.

“Hello? Who is this?”

[“Hello. Is this Miss Ryan Mcguffin?”]

“Yes, speaking.”

[“I picked up the card holder you dropped. You bumped onto me in the wedding hall reception hall. I tried to call you but you were running.”]

“Ahhh! I remember. Thank goodness, I was looking for that.”

“I saw your number in your cards, so I called you. If you have time, let’s meet tomorrow. Send me the location where you wanted to meet.”

I am scared of dealing with strangers because thriller and horror movies show how dangerous it is to meet someone who might use your personal info to kill  you and stalk you. But, when the man said that I can choose wherever I wanted to meet, I felt a sense of relief.

”Alright. I will text you where and what time we can meet. Really, thank you a lot.”

[No problem. See you tomorrow.] Then he ended the call.

It’s fortunate that there are still kind people left in the world.

Wait. Didn’t I need to worry about something.

“I don’t have money for taxi fare.”

‘Shall I go and borrow money from one of my dormmates?’
