Chapter 98: Chapter 98

A week later.

Rory POV

I jump a little startled at Taylor's unannounced intrusion into my office with a file in her hand. She is looking elegant and exquisite in her pencilled-mouth, black skirt and her red long sleeve, with three unbuttoned buttons. I do not want my mind to wander too far, but I can't help it.

For the next moment that passes, her head is buried in the file and I wonder why on earth she'd even walked into my office in the first place if she's just gonna avoid me and make me feel miserable, but.

She looks up from the document in her hand and a slow-motion or one currently playing in my head, her gaze sweeps over to where I am and my breath cuts at her captivating expression. Her eyes flicker adorable and she blinks slowly, she's truly a rare display of angelic embodiment and as always I'm a faithfully drunk admirer.

"Isn't it too early to be getting drunk, Mr Gate?" she asks in a rather fascinating manner, her eyes showing her amusement, but I can't quite wrap my finger on why she thinks I'm amusing.

"Something funny, Ms Snowfall or perhaps you would like to join me, and correction, I'm drinking, not drunk," I reply, rolling my seat to the other side of my desk where my bottle of alcohol is and pouring it into the glass cups before me, one for myself and the other for her.

She chuckles and walks over to my desk, "I don't drink anymore, Mr Gate," I'm about to say shame when she continues, "and neither would you be drinking from now on." with that established, she collects the bottle from my hand and picked up the glass of wine in front of me, then she walks past me and I'm guessing she's planning on emptying it into the bathroom sink.

It's fine if she doesn't join me but how dare she confiscate mine as well?

"Who are you to make decisions for me?!" I yell, following her from behind.

"I'm your business partner and that means someone that's out to save your ass and make sure you don't run yourself into the poverty you're intending for you and the others who have been devoted to this company, and the many other companies all other the world for all these years.

"How much does this drink cost?" she flips the back and reads it to me. "Salvatore's Legacy - $8,316. That's a whole lot of money that can be used for something better, like being given to the poor." here we go again with the lectures I've been getting from her all week.

"I help the poor every day, Taylor, you don't know that because you don't know everything about me."

She suddenly pauses from her walk and turns to me, making me pause in my movement also. Her eyes are cold and deadly as they stare into mine like they can see my soul. "I know everything about you, Rory, more than you even know about yourself and right now I know you're drunk and I also know you won't have $8,316 to your name when you're done with this madness." she takes a deep breath and begins to walk towards the bathroom.

"Why do you care?"

She halts, but doesn't turn back, "I don't."

She opens the door to the bathroom and enters and I watch from the door as she empties the bottle into the sink, trying not to get too distracted as I watch her bend a little to pick the cover that had fallen to the ground, but damn that's as hard as I am.

When she finishes she turns around and as she tries walking by me, I step into her way and she frowns, but I'll be damned if I don't get my revenge for what her bad mouth had putting me through these past few days.

"I don't believe you don't care about me, Taylor, you may know me more than I know myself, but you're not the only one. You know very well that I know you quite well too." I remind her with the tip of my pointing finger touching her nose. "You do care about me more than you want to let on and I bet that was why you turned down Keenan's proposal." I let my finger trail down from her lips to her neck to her gently beating heart and it skips at my touch and I can't help smirking mischievously at that. "You can't be with someone else when your heart belongs and beats for only me."

Hearing that she turned down Keenan's proposal last week did not only make me happier, but it also confirmed the suspicion I've heard for a while now, she still did have feelings for me and I haven't gotten over her and I see it as fate telling me I have another chance with her.

She laughs and shakes her head, "You were always a dreamer, Rory."

"And you loved me for my many dreams and I can remember that one of those dreams included making you mine." and with that, I close the little space that there is between us.

We kiss and I can tell that's the beginning of the better things to come.
