Chapter 55: Chapter 55

Her green eyes sparkled interestingly, and her mouth paused in quick reasoning."You've got guts and you're also bold, not everyone has the nerve to show such courage before me or any of the Gate for the matter." She admitted giving me an odd sheen. "I'm gonna make you a deal, stay off his path, and I give you whatever it is you want money, car just name your price."

I scoff and shake my head, clearly not believing what it was I was hearing. Surely she was full of herself. "You rich people think you can buy everything don't you?"

She shrugged, "Everyone's got their price, you just name yours."

"Yes you're right, I do have a price, and my price is Rory but sadly, even you can't afford that can you?"

I glare at the woman whose presence was beginning to resent coldly before walking out of the room.

Flashback ends~

My door opens and the three J's entered, and although there are not all competing today they all looked to be prepared. Jack look super ready and prepared in his sport shorts and shirt and his blue Beck sports shoes, he's also sweating and I figure it's probably because he has been running.

"Good morning sunshine." Jack beams at me, his hair sticking roughly on his sweaty head and he just shrugs it off.

"Good morning Jack." I smile warmly at him, "how are you?"

He smirks wickedly at my question. "After making out with the hottest member of the Gates family last night, I think I'm gonna be the most energetic runner on the field today."

Jack and Phoebe have made their relationship official and although mom didn't like the idea, she wanted to support Jack and his decision about his life and even I couldn't deny the joy that Jack has had since they met and began dating. I asked how the 'Gates' family reacted, but he just shrugged and said they had to get used to it. I felt happy for him and that he's found someone that can make him happy and also because he was ready to fight for them. I got to officially meet Phoebe yesterday and she seemed to share a lot with Rory than just looks but in personality and we seem to bond quickly. And she made me take back the thought I had in my heart towards the Gates.

They weren't all bad.

She also told me she knew about her brother's other woman who owned his heart and that he loved me and unlike her mother, she didn't rush to judge me. She gave me a thumb up for being the first girl in a long while that was able to tame the heart of her brother and although I'd given up, and her brother wedding was fast approaching, she hoped things worked between us.

Together, Jack and Phoebe seem like the perfect couple. None cared about the age difference and most times Phoebe is matured and reserved and Jack is the childish one, but just like their age difference, that doesn't appear to bother Phoebe either.

Jake scoff and rolls his eyes indignantly. "She didn't ask how you'll be, she asks how you are."

"Same thing," replies Jack causally making Jake facepalm.

"Well when is the competition beginning?" I eagerly ask looking at jack with the eyes of expectancy.

"Ten a.m. right now it's six forty. And I need to be in school before eight a.m. I need to take a bath now. Don't forget to put me in prayers."

"We will, Jack," Josh assures tapping his shoulder in reassurance.

I bid them goodbye and in the next 30 minute I got prepared for work, there is something I urgently need to do and when I come back out, I prepare and hurry out of the room with a letter in my hand.

I arrive at the ACH building and walk in straight into it. I count my steps in as I know there are my last. As I walk into the building, I feel some heated gaze on me, but I ignore every last one of them and walk with my head up into Paris's office.

I see her on her seat and immediately her eyes meet me, she smiles and I in return grimace. I slowly approach her table with the letter in my hand and her eyes narrow when she sees my hand.

"What's that?" She asks in an ordering tone and I hand it over to her.

She tears it open and reads through carefully before glancing up at me in confusion as well as surprise. "You're resigning? But why?" Her mouth is puzzled and her expression concerned. "Is it about your salary? I'll double it or triple it, just don't leave." she pleads, "I need you now more than ever." She says in a tone of command.

"I'm sorry Paris, I need to do this for myself." Is what I say before turning away and heading out. I do not want to work for her anymore, knowing that sooner or later the whole world is bound to know the truth.

I glance at my wristwatch on my way out and it is already 8:30 am leaving me with a maximum of one hour and thirty minutes. I spot Jason standing at the entrance of the building with his usual smudged look and staring hotly down my path. I choose to ignore him as I get closer, but I can't because he decides the talk to me.

"Where are you going?" He demands.

"None of your business," I say through gritted teeth.

"To your lover then?" He says with a taunting smirk. "Last time I checked, he's now Paris official fiancée."

"Like I say none of your fucking business and I'd rather be with someone like that than be with someone like you."

I decided to take the next hour to submit my forms to the five jobs opening site I'd seen earlier in the newspaper and although they don't pay much, I want to do something and to add up, I might take an extra job. The highest paying job is as a receptionist/cashier at the night club and after submitting in the fifth place, I decided to go home.

My phone buzz in my bag and I pick it up to see Keenan calling. Since Friday he's been calling and apologizing for being MIA when he was needed the most. I'd told him I was not mad, but he believed I was and haven't stop apologising.

"Hello."

"Hello, Taylor how are you?"

"I'm great and you?"

"Horrible if I'm honest." He does sound horrible if you ask me"I haven't heard from Rory until I just feel so bad. Can I come and see you at least?"

I haven't heard from Rory either. The last I saw him was Friday night when he was with Paris, all dressed and giving a formal apology to the guest for coming late for the party. I left the part early because I could not stand the heated, long gaze of Rory which filled with many emotions and keep meeting mine ever so often.

I can't say I don't miss him, 'cause that be a lie. I long to hear his voice, to feel him close and touch him again. I miss him and I also worry about him, but I try not to worry too much because it'll be useless as there's nothing I can do to reach him.

"No, you can't. Remember the games Jack is participating in? It's today and we are all going there." I tell him as I pull out of my thought to open the door and I enter the house which is quiet because everyone's out.

"Can I come?" He asks uncertainly.

"Didn't you promise Jack that you will?"

"Yes," he takes a brief pause, "but I'm asking you if I can come."

"Yes, you can come."

"You sure?"

"Yes, you can!" I answer in a snap.

"Okay." He replies and I end the call.

I toss my phone on the bed, glancing at the clock which is now 9:25 am and walk to my wardrobe, opening it and looking through for suitable clothes for the competition. I pull out a blue take top, and a grey jacket, and black jean trousers and I bring them to bed. I take a quick shower and return to the room in my underwear and towel.

I pick up my clothes and I'm about to unwrap the towel from my body and put on my clothes when I hear the door open and the familiar green eyes which have made their signatures with my soul enters.

"Going somewhere?" His deep, rich, dark voice ask, looking amused as a mischievous smirk appears in his face and that steals my consciousness away.
